1. Adding pages before 1st page move placed images

   Versions 20.1 and 20.2 if you try to insert pages before 1st page, it moves already placed images to another page.

2. Table controls are missing from Properties pane, and selection control lacks ToolTip

   I had mysterious, unselectable text in my document with multiple columns. It turned out to be a table, but this was not indicated anywhere in the UI. Not in the layer list or the Properties pane when the text frame was selected. Table properties are missing from the Properties pane even when you have the text-insertion point sitting in a table cell.

   A major contributor to the problem is that the tiny table-selection icon that appears on the left side of a table has no ToolTip, and does nothing when clicked or dragged. Only by guessing that you have to double-click it will you discover that this invokes row/column selection mode. And only then do table-related controls appear in the Properties pane.

   I would expect a ToolTip on the on-screen control, and I would expect table properties to appear in the Properties pane when you have the insertion point in the table.

   InDesign 20.2 on Windows 11.

3. PNG export affected by "Display Performance" Settings

   Affected InDesign versions:

   I could reproduce it with InDesign 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and Prerelease 2025. From what I've found here so far, however, the problem has existed since at least 2020.

   ---

   Reproduce:

   • "Display Performance" set to "Typical"
   • place a PNG or PSD with semi-transparent areas in InDesign (image for testing: semitransparent.png)
   • export to PNG

   This also happens if the PNG export is triggered before the document has been fully rendered and the "Display Performance" settings are set to ‘High Quality’. This therefore also affects automated processes, e.g. on InDesign Server.

   ---

   Expected result:

   • high quality output with correctly rendered transparencies (see png-export-expected.png)

   ---

   Actual result:

   • Stripes in the semi-transparent areas (see png-export.png)

   ---

   Even worse:

   • set the "Display Performance" to "Fast"
   • only a gray box is in the exported PNG instead of the actual image (see png-export-fast.png)

4. Converting a text URL to a hyperlink removes the instances of the text variables!!!

   1. All InDesign versions
   2. Create a URL that includes Text Variable instance
   3. URL looks and prints correctly,
   4. but hyperlink is wrong: there are no text variables values in it.

   It is obvious that URLs are convenient to generate from text variables. Especially if there are thousands of them!
   This would be a phenomenal solution not only to our problem, but...

   Instead of substituting the values ​​of text variable instances, nothing is replaced (empty strings instead of text variable instances), and the hyperlink (which looks and prints correctly in the text) is generated as invalid!
   We need to create and maintain a script to fix incorrectly generated hyperlinks, but this drawback could be solved at the highest level - just add text variable processing to the hyperlink converter!

5. Preview on GPU disappears; restarting only resolution

   Problem: Workspace turns into a blank outline in Preview on GPU.

   Occurrence: When switching between windows or after returning to an open InDesign file after having a pause.

   Solutions: Restarting InDesign.

   Toggling between CPU and GPU does not work. Selecting and de-selecting GPU in preferences does not work.

6. Portuguese from Portugal

   The Portuguese language originated in Portugal.
   That being said, the Portuguese Dictionary from Portugal implemented in InDesign should align with the native language. In fact, there are numerous supposed errors detected by Dynamic Spelling.
   InDesign insists on not accepting words like "Económico" or "prémios," as it considers them to be mistakes, given that in Brazilian Portuguese, which is a variant of the Portuguese language, they are not written this way. It's about time they fix this issue.

7. Vector graphics distorted and broken - Cause unkown

   I don't know what prior action or command let to this bug but almost all my Vector graphics were suddenly distorted and broken. Some Small circles changed size and I couldn't scale in down anymore. See pictures. Exportet pdf files show the same distorted graphics.

   Adobe Indesign 2025 on a MacBook Pro 2021, Apple M1 Pro, 16 GB macOS Sonoma 14.1.2.

8. Paragraph shading randomly disappears in some places when working in Indesign

   Expected result: the shading is always displayed as it is applied in the settings.

   Actual result: after making an adjustment, the shading disappears in some places and the shading edges that are displayed are not the actual edges, which makes it impossible to make accurate changes in the shading. When a pdf is made, the shading looks how it should look, so no issues there. It is merely when working in Indesign that the display of the shading is faulty. At first, when opening the Indesign file, the shading is displayed correctly, but when a change is made in the (shading of) the area, the shading breaks up, so you can't see what you are actually doing.

   Reproduce: make an adjustment in the shaded area. Text in columns, anchored objects in text, placed images, shading merged. The more anchored objects are inserted, the more the paragraph shading breaks up. (The line and paragraph numbering in the text in the attached example are anchored objects.)

10. Inset spacing no longer working after re-installing InDesign 2025

    I re-installed InDesign 2025 because some windows were blank ('Text Wrap', 'Paragraph' & 'Colour'). It solved that issue but developed a new issue - it wouldn't save. So I re-installed again without keeping any settings/preferences, this time it developed a new issue - Inset spacing no longer works.
    What is going on?

11. Text wrap - select subject - cancelling progress causes crash

    Clicking an image/object, choosing wrap around object shape and then type: Select subject will bring up the progress bar whilst it thinks about it. If you choose to cancel the progress then indesign crashes without an error code or crash dialogue.

    Have tried on 2024/2025 windows 10 and 11 and bug persists.

14. Missing character in CentSchbook CE font in InDesign2025

    Yesterday, while working in Indesign 2025, white spaces appeared in the imported text where the letter "r" should be - one character suddenly disappeared! Even in the font set there is a white space instead (see picture). I tried this set in Word and it continues to appear there. It also appears when I try it in the old version of Indesign CS4. Not here in ID2025. However, about two days ago I was already creating documents in ID2025 with this font set and there was no problem. This is a current problem that I need to resolve immediately.     Strokes should be more variable, like in Illustrator. I miss brush strokes. I'd like to create some stroke styles myself. For some Corporate Designs it is crucial to have.

17. quote mark position in RTL paragraph when Arabic and English text mixed and line break

    InDesign 20.2 (ME)

    In a paragraph where there is text contained within opening and closing quote marks and that text has a mixture of Arabic and English words, if that text happens to be at the end of a line and automatically flows to the next line then the positions of the quote marks reverses and are incorrect. If I force a line beak then it fixes itself, but it leaves me with text in one line that is shorter than it should be.

    This problem also appeared a few versions back, can't recall exactly when, a year or more I think, but then seemed to be resolved in a later update.

18. Serious Error when Importing Paragraph Styles

    InDesign 20.2 crashes with a "serious error" every single time I try to import paragraph styles from another document. I'm using macOS 14.6.1. No problems when using the previous version of InDesign. Boy, you guys really messed this one up.

20. Alt-text and field descriptions/tooltips do not export correctly

    When updating Alt-text on images or the form field descriptions in InDesign 2025 20.0.1 on Mac and exporting to PDF, the Alt-text/descriptions do not reflect the updated text. This requires manual updating of every single image or form field in the PDF or saving as IDML, opening in 2024 and exporting.
