  1. [ID-4255870] Document Fonts available even if not active

Working on an indesign document that has its own “Document Fonts” folder that contains fonts specific to that document (not activated anywhere else), then switching to a new document that does not have any “Document Fonts” folder, the fonts of the previous document are still available, but if I close indesign completely and then reopen the new document the fonts are no longer available.

This is not correct, fonts that are not activated or not present in the “Document Fonts” folder specific to that document, should not be available for other documents that do not reside in the same folder.

  2. Command-S shortcut activates DON'T SAVE

    Command-S shortcut activates DON'T SAVE

    InDesign 20.0
    MacOS 15.1
    Swedish language

I noticed that Command-S activates the Don't Save button in the dialog shown in the image.

    1. Command-W to close the document
    2. The dialog shows Cancel, Don't Save and Save
    3. Command-S will activate the Don't Save button!

I tried it on two Macs with the same setup.

This is a serious bug and it's much worse than a crash.

After a crash the changes will be kept by the crash restore feature. If someone use the Command-S shortcut in the scenario described here they will erase all changes with no…

  3. Project goes blank

I've been using the new Indesign 20.0 and it will often go blank to a completely grey screen in the working area. I can see the toolbar, and even the image gizmo but none of the actual content. I tried switching preview modes and to presentation mode and nothing works besides just quitting out and opening it back up. It seems to happen when it's been in the background for a while and I switch back to it. It's extremely frustrating. I'm on a Macbook Pro M3 maxed out specs on Mac OS Sequia 15.0.1 (24A348).

    This may be related…

  5. Indesign opens on wrong screen with multiple monitors (Mac OS)

This issue has been going on for years now. I recently updated to inDesign 2025, but it's still not solved for me:

Expected result: I've assigned InDesign to open on my external monitor, just like all my other Adobe apps.
Actual result: It completely ignores this, and just opens on my Macbook screen. The window resize buttons will be hidden behind my menu bar, so I have to alt+drag the window to make the buttons appear again. Then I can drag inDesign to my external monitor.
I've seen posts going back to 2019 about this issue

    I'm on Mac OS…

  6. App window resizes after presentation mode

    InDesign 2025 (v 20.0) on Mac OS 14.6.1

When opening presentation mode (Shift + W or View > Screen Mode > Presentation …) and going back to default/preview mode the application window resizes.
When having the app window to its full size after presentation mode it changes back to its smaller size that you can toggle by using the green plus icon on the top left (Mac Version).

When setting both window states manually to full size and toggling between the two (without effective size change) once it works afterwards the window stays in the same size when escaping presentation…

  7. V 20.0 Bugs

Text box content disappearing. Only will reappear after box is moved or typed in. Some content may appear and some will not be visible until box is moved again. This happens often when typing or deleting text.
Also, now I only have 2 undos. History only shows two items.
Just updated to 20.0 and these issues occurred right after. Please fix!

We will need more info on this, is this happening with all documents or with some specfic documents.

Does this happen after creating or opening documents or both?

What are the steps you have performed which are not there in History?

  8. Document made in InDesign 2024 no longer loads in InDesign 2025

    InDesign 2025 (v20.0)

is unable to open a document (a 400 page book in one single file) that I finished a few days before updating InDesign. It was made using version 19.5. I've tried several versions of the book: both the last work file and a finished packaged version on a separate drive. I have also tried opening an older version before the latest changes with no luck.

There are no error messages. It just starts loading it and then after a while, doesn't anymore. The book doesn't appear in the Open Recent list either even after several attempts and…

  10. Footnotes do not honor "keep" settings

Title says it all. If a footnote paragraph style contains "keep" settings and split footnotes are enabled, footnotes ignore the keep settings. It should be possible to (a) allow split footnotes, and (b) stipulate that at least two lines must be carried over to the second page, but this is not possible. Keeps are ignored.

  11. GREP styles do not work in text variables

The title should say it all. When setting a text variable in a paragraph style that includes GREP styles, the GREP styles are not applied to the text variable. This is a severe limitation of the variable functionality, and is similar to many other reported bugs concerning variables, the upshot of which is that variables need to behave more like ordinary text. This is one more instance in which this is true.

  12. Screen tearing while scrolling

I'm having issues with screen tearing in InDesign 2023 and 2024. I've tried resizing UI, testing an earlier version of InDesign (hence 2023), making sure my computer was set to best performance over battery saver, etc. Inevitably when I scroll around, lines of text will jump around or break. I'm operating a brand new windows 11 computer with 16gb of RAM, and this is a two page InDesign document with one image, so...

  13. ePub 2.0.1 export creates invalid ePub files

InDesign creates incorrect ePub in latest version (19.5) when exporting reflowable ePub 2.0.1.

This is the result of any ePub generated with InDesign from the Draft2Digital Epub validator:

    1. ERROR(RSC-005): /OEBPS/content.opf(2,105): Error while parsing file: attribute "xml:lang" not allowed here; expected attribute "id"

The "xml-lang=" attribute should not be removed from the "package" tag, as it is not in the ePub 2.0.1 standard.

ERROR(RSC-005): /OEBPS/cover.xhtml(8,38): Error while parsing file: element "figure" not allowed anywhere; expected element "address", "blockquote", "del", "div", "dl", "h1", "h2", "h3", "h4", "h5", "h6", "hr", "ins", "noscript", "ns:svg", "ol", "p", "pre", "script", "table" or "ul" (with xmlns:ns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"

  14. Pinch gesture in macbook changes size of selected image instead of zoom

While working on a macbook air m3, you can use the pinch gesture to zoom in and out of the page, put when you select and image in a box (orange outline) and then use the pinch gesture while your cursor is hovering over any part of the image, even parts that are out of the frame/box, it changes/transforms the size/dimensions of the image instead of zooming. While the image is still selected and you move you cursor away from the image the zoom then works.

The attached video shows how using the the pinch gesture zooms in and out…

  16. Footnate Adds Extra Space Above Span Columns

Adding a footnote to the first line of a story adds extra space beneath the second line of a story if line 3 is set to split columns.

  17. Bug: blank lines between footnotes when aligned to baseline grid

Found a serious bug in which aligning footnotes to the baseline grid adds blank lines between footnotes, even if the paragraph style has no space before/after, the leading is smaller than the baseline grid increment, and the footnote options specify no space before or between notes. This is breaking my workflow and I can't find a way around it without deselecting "align to baseline grid," which causes other problems.

  18. program freezes after Save As

InDesign v.19.4 freezes after Save As is used. The program is inaccessible and has to be force quit and restarted. It will reopen the document when it starts up again with no data lost. An annoyance, but at least no work is forfeited.

  20. Text and picture boxes flash white when selecting and moving

This is a problem I’ve been experiencing for some time and it’s still present in the latest version I’ve updated to.

Whenever I select any item on the page - a picture box or text box - and I drag to another position, the item flashes white for a frame as I move it. This occurs whether I move the item with or without holding down the Shift key. It is only the item that flashes, not the rest of the page, but if I am moving a large shape or the background image, it becomes uncomfortable to the eye.
