  1. Fonts wont apply

    InDesign wont apply a font change. I can highlight text and select a new font but the xhamge wont apply. It immediately reverts to the original font

  2. Opening ID files from server: Missing required parameter

    I've been using my Apple Time Capsule connected to my WiFi-Router as a wireless HD for a couple of years now. Since I updated to Mac OS 11 (Big Sur) I cannot open InDesign (v 16.0.1) files directly from my Time Capsule. I get an error which should translate to something like "Missing required parameter "form" for method "open" (see attached). When I copy the file on my desktop everything works like a charm.

  3. Find text plays an error sound when I press Return, even though it finds the text

    I have been working with indesign for a few months and already sent in about 10 bug reports. I feel like everytime I open the program I find a new issue. My colleagues say I have a knack for crashing programs or finding issues. I have a very similar problem with PS. I'm really frustrated with the UI and I can't imagine I'm the only one.   4. Paragraph style outline cuts through text

    After reopening chapters I sometimes find the outline of a paragraph going through the text instead of below it. I can't relyably reproduce it, but it has happened several times.

  5. Can't wrap the first line of a page

    If I place an anchored image at the very start of the page, the first line does not wrap, it disappears behind the image. One solution in the forum was: Make an invisible line of 0pt. Are you kidding me?

  6. Organize styles per book, not per file.

    Having to synch the styles manually instead of just having the styles available throughout the book is a pain. Also I cannot synch single styles. There is an object style I use for chapter headings, the objects get displaced everytime I synch.

  7. Cannot delete empty pages

    I have empty pages at the end of my chapter. There are text frames on them, because they got created automatically. There is no content in the text frames. If I delete the page, it's gone until I scroll, then it re-appears. If I delete the text frame, the page duplicates itself. I've seen the issue described in the forums, but the solution is such a hack.

  9. Email Hyperlink Breaks

    In the Hyperlinks panel, Email hyperlinks that include a subject that includes an ampersand will change from an Email-type to a URL-type when you click OK. Status will then appear as a red dot in the Hyperlinks panel instead of an envelope. Opening it again from the Hyperlinks panel will show the subject gone and in a URL format.

    TO TEST - Highlight text in your document. Open the Hyperlinks Panel. Create a new hyperlink with the [+] button at the bottom of the panel, choose email as the type, type a valid email address, then enter a subject line…

  10. Nested styles no longer working.

    InDesign 2021

    Used to be able to set a nested style up to or through any specific character (for example a : . Now that option is not working any more. Can only select from the drop down menu. Can work around with a grep style but it's not as easy to get it right.

  11. key commands randomly stop working

    This is in InDesign version 16.0.1.
    Key commands randomly stop working for zoom (command + spacebar), proportional sizing (command + shift and command + option + shift), and even just using shift to move on a vertical or horizontal line.
    I use these constantly and the only way I have found to fix them is to restart my machine. restarting the program does not work and I can't find any conflict that may be causing this.

  15. Indesign 16.0.1 sometimes crashes when saving

    Indesign 16.0.1 on my month-old iMac, crashes daily usually when I'm saving my 80 page catalog, I don't know when it will happen. The book contains links from Drive, Dropbox and another computer.

    Yesterday's crash damaged the file but luckily I could use a recently saved version.

  16. Reopen last closed/unsaved document(s)

    You should be able to reopen the last closed/unsaved document(s) in case you accidentally close a document and click "Don't Save."

    The Chrome browser has a similar feature: "reopen closed tabs." And Google Docs allows you to view and restore all previous versions of a document.

    With Indesign, if you accidentally click "don't save" the document is gone forever, according to the support person I spoke to. You can't find it in the archive folder and you can't "undo" that either.

  20. The "Object Export Options" menue will not open in german InDesign-Version 16.0.1

    Das Kontextmenue "Objekt Exportoptionen" lässt sich nicht öffnen.
    Bei einem Click darauf bzw. mit rechter Maustaste ausgewählt, gefriert InDesign ein und crasht.
    Da ich barrierearme pdf-Dokumente erstellen muss, ist diese Funktion extrem wichtig für mich.
