1. Text selecting freeses program

   Today I updated InDesing to 19.4 It is no longer possible to work - every time you mark the text block, the clock starts spinning and everything hangs. ****, why publish an update without testing it well and thus hinder our work. I was forced to install version 19.3 back.

2. Issues with Color Picker in InDesign: HSB and RGB Confusion Leading to Unexpected Colors

   When I open the color picker to adjust a shade, I usually automatically do so in HSB, since I usually want a lighter or darker shade of what I'm working on. But if I don't actually click on the radial buttons for the HSB value I'm working on, InDesign will give me some wild colors! It seems to be confusing HSB and RGB somehow--but I don't know why or how, since I'm editing in the HSB boxes.

   If I'm using an HSB Swatch and open the color picker to get a different shade, the "original" color box shows something completely unrelated to the color of the swatch, but will act as if it is the real color when I click on it.

   I'm not sure where the discrepancy is, and I can still do what I need to, but this gets really annoying and diminishes the usefulness of the color picker overall.

4. TOC Paragraph Styles not Applying Properly

   I'm using InDesign version 19.4. I am trying to generate a TOC for my document. I have ensured that all my paragraph and character styles are appropriately titled and applied throughout my document.

   When I produce my TOC, the entire thing is capitalized, despite the paragraph style having "normal" case set. When I highlight the auto-generated TOC, it is indicating that the correct paragraph style is applied, however, it is not reflecting it.

   If I click around to my different paragraph styles, it alters the font size, color, etc. but everything remains capitalized, despite none of the styles having that setting.

   Description:
   Text error when a soft return is used at the end of one sentence, the following text will place the full stop at the wrong end of the text.

6. Lower Case with Caps Lock and Shift

   In my new install, InDesign24, pressing shift while using caps lock doesn't make the text lower case, despite this working in other programs. Is there a preference or setting in InDesign I'm not aware is clicked to make this function as before?

7. Please fix tool panels going off screen

   Tool panels are an absolute nightmare in Indesign. The detection of, in which direction the panel should open is buggy. I have the Application Frame on my main screen and the tool panels all on my second screen. The setting panels never pop up into a direction where it's handy. They just go outside of the screen.

   Also, when having some tabs open and some collapsed, it's an absolute nightmare to open a different one. InDesign does not care about how big your screen is. It just makes the panel bigger and bigger and go out of your screen making it impossible to access the other ones, or even the one you wanted to open. You end up opening and closing or resizing your tool tabs over and over and over again. Have you never heard of scrolling?

8. Adding words to Thai User Dictionary does not add whole word recognition

   In Thai, you can add a word with or without hyphenation to the Thai language User Dictionary and that word does not become recognized as a whole word. If you double click on the word, it will still only highlight parts of the word that it recognizes as forming a word (leaving the rest of the added word not selected).

   This leads to hyphenation problems because if InDesign still sees the word in three parts then it will break the word into those parts without recognizing the need to hyphenate the word.

   So there needs to be a way for us to add whole word recognition to the Thai language processing.

9. Variable font not working in Indesign.

   Problem:
   Variable font not working in Indesign.
   Main problems with Monotype Helvetica Neue Variable, but sometimes others also cause problems.
   (Note: via my Myfonts I received a new font-file and installed this - same problems - so it is not the font file which is broken…)
   I discovered that the program/software/app Indesign itself is causing this problem - not only the variable function does not work any more - as soon as I try to use the variable function the whole document is not working properly: can't save, can’t undo, etc !!!
   This makes working with a variable font in Indesign very risky (it looks like it is happening with more variable typefaces).

   I use
   Mac OS - Sonoma 14.4.1
   Adobe Indesign 19.3

   Description / Example
   - when resizing size 60pt (display Bold) via the 'Font size panel' to a smaller size 24pt, it doesn’t change to ’Text Bold’ (what it should do) - but changes to another font (Minion Pro) !
   (see screendumps 1 and 2)
   - changing it via the Variable Font slider (any of the 3 sliders) does not work either - and I can’t 'undo’ or ‘save' anymore in the file!! Closing and re-opening the file does not help - I have to restart Insdesign to be able to use the undo and save function.
   (see screendumps 3 and 4)

   Please let me know if there are any solutions!!

11. Ligatures do not appear

    I need to use a barcodes font that contains ligatures of pairs of digits. this ligatures are not recognized by InDesign. it works in Illustrator and eg. MS Office so its not an issue of that font but may be a bug in InDesign. Name of the font ist 2of5.ttf

13. Montserrat typeface's; semi bold, bold, extra bold & black has issues displaying in Id

    Version 2024 19.0

    When I change the font to Monserrat with one of the mentioned styles most of the glyphs are wrongly presented for example if i choose bold most of the letters seem to be light rather than bold, with a few like 'o' and 'E' displaying as the right style, when they should all be displayed as bold.

14. Indesign 2024 not working with window-snapping apps

    I recently upgraded to InDesign 2024. I use BetterSnapTool to arrange my app-windows in order to have a efficient and practical workflow. But InDesign 2024 does not work with BetterSnapTool (BST) or any other window-snapping apps due to this reason I received from the BST support:
    "Unfortunately all window manager apps on macOS are affected by this, Adobe has broken their window resizing behavior in their recent updates. Their products do not respond correctly to window resizing requests using the macOS Accessibility API anymore. As of now I don't think there is anything I can do to fix this. If possible please also report to Adobe, they would need to fix this in their apps."
    BST works with every other application. I have reset InDesign preferences, but it still does not work properly. Therefore I still use InDesign 2023, since BST works perfectly fine with that application. The problem is that when I for instance snap ID2024 to 2/3 of the screen and I put another application in 1/3 of the screen (so far it works) but when I go to the 1/3 app and copy information and return to ID2024, ID2024 goes back to full screen again. Very annoying and it destroys my workflow. Adobe please fix this! I enclose a short videoclip to show how badly it behaves... I work on Mac Studio M2, macOS Sonoma 14.5

15. Images or graphics disappear (Mac M1; Sonoma 14.5) (ID V19.4)

    Hi, It
    This Problem happen >> InDesign performance issue: Text disappears while editing <<
    I'm unable to copy images or certain objects.
    Images or graphics disappear, and I can't click or select them, even though they're still visible in the layer panel.
    I've tried using the "Alternate" function, but the image still disappeared.

16. Find Color not working

    Find Color [in document] fails to find specific color swatches.

    1- I deleted all unused swatches.
    2- I tried to track down redundant or undesired swatches that remained (in example, it was a pantone red/orange)
    3 -"Find color" could not locate where swatch was used
    4- I deleted the pantone swatch and converted to magenta in order to visually locate magenta in my document since "find color" did not do so.

    Also, this error is not ingnorable: if you put undo() in a try-clause, it doesnt work.

    Alsoalso, the different undo-modes (https://developer.adobe.com/indesign/dom/api/u/UndoModes/) are NOT sufficient explained. At least write some whole sentences on how they actually differ.

18. Running Header issue with anchored textframes (for alternative titles)

    If I use an anchored textframe to have abbreviated versions of the headlines as running head, they override every following trigger until the end of the story.

    I use character styles as trigger set to 'last on page'.

    Please fix this. (Or configure a better way for customizable running headers. Preferable in combination with the table of content)

19. screen flickering sonoma

    I know this is a known issue, but after 4 months, I would have hoped that a fix would have been developed by now. My fault for now researching before upgrading to Sonoma, but come on guys. I seriously can't believe how terrible my experience has been with both the new Macs and Adobe software. I have been doing design for 18 years, and have never had as much trouble in that time as I have had from both company's products in the last year. This is ridiculous! It is unfortunate for users that we have no other viable options to move to.

20. last letter in text frame disappears from PDF Hebrew

    We're having issues with the last letter or the punctuation at the end of a sentence disappearing when the file is exported as a PDF. Primarily happens with right-to-left language, we're using Hebrew.
    Been happening since the update to 19.0 onward.
