  1. InDesign Suffers Major Performance Issues When InCopy Files Are Linked To .indd File

    I use InDesign a lot for production art. Mostly I layout text and images for product manuals that range between 110 - 250 pages. It runs like a champ on both my Dell XPS 8930 and iMac 2019. Both machines are robust with 32 Gb of ram. However, once I convert text and graphics to InCopy files, I see a huge drop in machine performance. Doing the slightest things like updating the ICMA / ICML file will hang or crash InDesign. Even saving the file can take 2 minutes. I've had 3 instances where the InDesign file got corrupted from…

    To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.

  2. WE MUST USE A SHARED SERVER

    Files can randomly corrupt when using a shared server? Every respectable business uses a shared server! We can't put confidential info on employee desktops as is recommended by Adobe because they can't support a shared server! At minmum if you can't support a shared server then make back up files which can be accessed if a file is corrupt. And no, your recovery option doesn't work when a back up file is corrupt.   3. Cannot copy/paste elements from 2019 to 2020 without the element becoming an image

    InDesign 2019 14.0.3 copy/paste issue into InDesign 2020 15.0.01 (and vice-versa).

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. In a 2019 InD doc, copy a text box with text inside it.
    2. Open a new document in InD 2020.
    3. Paste the text box with text inside it into 2020 InD.
    4. The text becomes an image instead of live text. Though, no links show up in the links panel.
    5. This can be reproduced if copying from 2020 into 2019. But it does not happen if copying/pasting from a 2020 doc into a 2020 doc, 2019 doc into a 2019 doc.

  4. Multiple spaces between words

    No idea just a simple bug report, but first your system places multiple adds in the process of getting to this point. Second I'm not interested in playing games with your process, I do not have time. NOW, here is the problem:

    While copying text from https://www.easa.europa.eu/sites/default/files/dfu/EasyAccessRules_for_AirOperations-Oct2019.pdf on the while on the internet and pasting into InDesign I get one or two spaces between the words. I then have to remove the spaces manually. I'm working with a lot of information and do not need to take the time removing the spaces.

  6. inDesign not showing all typekit activated fonts

    Typekit shows fonts activated but they are missing from "find font" windows.

    Font in adobe typekit.
    Font: In adobe type kit, turned ON.

    Font: shown as MISSING in indesign
    Font: not able to replace because it does not show up in "FIND FONT" dialogue

    Available in standard pulldown tab.

    ATTEMPTS TO FIX:
    1 - turned off suitcase
    2 - cleared font cache and rebooted
    3 - unsintalled indesign and preferences, reinstalled fresh
    4 - installed this patch https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/font-manager-crash.html

  7. InDesign Script - find/replace - store in a variable what is in "find what", "find format"

    Tested in InDesign, any from CC to CC2020.

    I was needed a script which can store whatever is there in one or more variables the following:
    - the format from "find format",
    - the format from "change format".
    The code below doesn't works if the paragraph (character) style is in a group style.

    var currFindPrefs = app.findGrepPreferences.properties;
    var currChangePrefs = app.changeGrepPreferences.properties;
    //do something
    //reset preferences
    app.findGrepPreferences.properties = currFindPrefs;
    app.changeGrepPreferences.properties = currChangePrefs;
    The variables can't store the style that are in group styles.
    Only those that are outside of any group.

    Indesign import this PDF and export PDF, result: images are cropped !!!

    Same result Acrobat Pro optimising this PDF !!!

  10. 15.1 MacBook Pro Fan now running full time since updating to latest version.

    Since installing 15.1 and the update the fan is now running full time. This was not the case in the previous builds of Indesign CC

    MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 64GB RAM

  11. Language issue

    Is there a way to change the Korean version of this Adobe Indesign to English version. I am a Filipino newsletter lay-out-editor and using the Korean version makes my work totally impossible. Thank you.

  12. 15.1 High Sierra data merge- wont load file when colon (:) is in header

    On selecting data source it does nothing. comma-seperated, tab seperated. All the same issue, the records and headers won't show. Like nothing happens.
    I do get my import options. They don't make any difference either.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

  15. essentials classic hyphenation missing

    I am using essentials classic as I always do, and when you select the paragraph section on the top bar, there's usually a hyphenation button which when clicked, stops it from being hyphenated, but its randomly gone, one second it was there, i pasted text into a text box and now it,s gone. Any clue how to fix this! I have found other ways of using it but the button still hasn't come back!

  20. Indents incorrect when importing Word document

    When importing a Word document that contains some indented paragraphs, the left indent being set to 5mm in Word (for example), once placed in InDesign, these 5mm indents typically show as 4.992mm. This would not neccesarily be a problem except that Find/Change in InDesign will not recognise an indent to 3 decimal places and therefore this cannot be located easily and fixed. This is proving to be a big problem in my workflow as I cannot automate the process of re-styling these paragraphs using InDesign Paragraph Styles with Find/Change.
