1. INDESIGN 2021 DOES NOT PASTE IN PLACE CORRECTLY on page or spread

   pastes off whack / not at all aligned properly on page.

   ID doesn't retain proper perspective or type sizes either.
   and it groups all items instead of keeping as separate objects, frames, items but it won't allow ungrouping!!!!

   iMac 27-5K late 2015
   Mojave 10.14.6 (w/ 2 rounds of recent screwy apple updates for Mojave)

2. Active adobe fonts are unstable.

   16.0 x64 - I have been experiencing issues with Adobe fonts, where I can't edit them. For example, resizing to a larger font value or even adding more text. The font (or the entire text box) will completely disappear or it will switch to a default font even though the correct font is chosen. The only way to correct it is to close the document and restart. But it doesn't mean the font will be stable. I don't seem to have this issue with locally installed fonts.

3. When switching from normal to preview, the type on a book page reflows and some type disappears.

   InDesign 2020: During work I often switch between normal and preview. Working on a long book, type has been disappearing on the Preview Page when I switch to that view from "normal". I quit InDesign, re-start, and things go ok for a while.

4. Naming layers in the docked layers panel and naming things in paragraph styles details box

   It's impossible to rename layers when the panel is docked
   I also have problems in naming things in some particular panels like the Paragraph styles details box when i want to create a nested style and type the exact word i want the style to stop
   (see screen capture) i manage to click it but it's like magic clic and clic and clic... sometimes work sometimes not... i'm getting crazy with it and loos a lot of time.

5. Indesign type/font glitch

   Has anyone experienced a glitch which means whenever you type a certain letter in indesign it glitches?? Every time I (or others working off the same server) type "r" when writing text in a specific indesign doc (both using most up-to date version 16.1, on either mac catalina or big sur), it doesn't type "r", but also causes the text style to change to the basic paragraph text style. It does this for all fonts.
   It doesnt happen in any other documents, and we can paste "r" in or correct spelling in this document without it glitching.
   We have been working on this particular document for a few weeks without issue until a few days ago - started happening at around the same time as I updated my Mac OS to Big Sur.
   The screenshots attached just show before I type r in the text box (black text) and after (text reverted to basic para which is white). Its super annoying!!

6. character style list flashes but won't open

   Sometimes, ID gets into a state where the Character Style drop-down list will not drop down. I can click either the list item itself or the little [v] button to its right, nothing happens. If I click it again, the screen will just flash open the list for just an instant, but it will not drop down the list and let me select from it. The only workaround is to use View › Character Styles, which slows me down quite a bit, because I usually leave the View › Paragraph Styles window open.

8. Text with missing fonts are invisible in InDesign 16.1 macOS Catalina

   Missing fonts in a document were usually showed with a replaced standard font and a light red highlight, so it pops you in the eye directly.
   In the new InDesign 16.1 on macOS Catalina 10.15.7 this feature is suddendly missing for me. The text with the missing font is completely invisible. Just an empty textbox. Just when you klick in it or open the preflight window, there you can see the errors.

   Did I miss some new settings? Sometimes you just want to quickly edit the text and generate the final pdf later. Would be great if can enable this feature again.

9. InDesign opens with tiny window

   For several recent versions of InDesign, and Windows, including the most recent of both (just updated InD yesterday, and this happened shortly after), I have on rare occasions had InD open as only a tiny box showing only the basic minimize/maximize/close buttons, and a window edge, positioned in the upper left corner. If I click on the maximize button, it goes to maximized, but then cannot grab outer edges to resize the box, and minimizes just goes back to almost nothing. If I then quit InD, USING FILE/QUIT, OR COMMAND-Q, then it will reopen OK. I think, maybe, this is triggered by using the x-box in the upper right corner to close the program, rather then file-quit or command-q. I try to remember to close it the 'correct' way, but since every other program I have on Windows is fine with closing the x-box, ...

   Again, problem with current and at least 2 previous full versions, and with Windows 7 Home as well as Windows 10 Pro. It can go a long time without this happening.

10. Slow Performance issue in the InDesign application

    Very Slow Performance

    Yes, InDesign is extremely slow today 2020-06-19, almost unusable, even many months after being discovered.
    The most worrying is that it seems that this bug was discovered in September 2019.

    As David wrote 2019-09-04: “Almost every action from selecting objects, resizing objects, or moving objects comes with a really slow reaction time”.

    Behaviour:

    InDesign freezes, and my cursor starts spinning around (CPU jumps to 95-98%) for almost 30-45 seconds before I can continue with next command.
    The behaviour is random, but when it starts working slow, then it continues. It usually happens when I open two InDesign documents at the same time (small documents).

    I run InDesign 15.1 x64 from Creative Cloud, and Windows 10 Enterprise with 16GB RAM.

    I hope Adobe fixes this very soon, as I cannot perform my daily work and my employer starts asking what is wrong with my deliveries.

    Many internal as well as external factors can cause the InDesign application to perform poorly.

    We completed the investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue has been resolved in the most recent release of InDesign (Refer to InDesign Release notes), the issue was intermittent at the time of reporting and is no longer reproducible, or the InDesign version mentioned in the report is no longer covered by Creative Cloud Support Policy.

    We would recommend you upgrade to the latest version as it is more robust. If you are still facing this issue even after updating it, create a new UserVoice thread or Contact Adobe support.

11. Problem with the display of the navigation bar on an Android smartphone and tablet of a document published by publish online

    Hi all,

    I have a strange situation with a document that I created in InDesign and then published online using "Publish Online". From there I got a link to share.

    On the desk, everything is fine. But the problem is with Android devices where the options tab with next page, previous page, download button and others disappears after a few seconds and there is no way to get it back.

    It is not possible to navigate between the pages of the document.

    This is the bar with the options I am talking about in the attachment.

    Is there something that I did wrong or how to fix it?

12. Spellcheck Bug

    Spellcheck/User Dictionary keeps defaulting to random languages and cannot not be changed. I've changed my preferences to English (US) several times manually and it will not fix the problem. Please fix this bug.

13. Interactive "Go to Page" destinations don't update when pages are added or removed from document.

    One of the possible interactive actions in a document is "Go to Page." I can have a button jump the Publish Online view to a different page in the document. Unlike EVERY other page-related function in InDesign, the page number designated doesn't update if a page is added or removed between the button and the target page.

    Example:

    I set a button on page 3, that when clicked jumps the view to page 10. If, later in the document creation/editing process, a page is deleted between these pages, the view still jumps to page 10, not page 9 which is the new number of the intended target.

    I'm working on an online catalog that has over 50 interactive page jumps, and the client wants to drop a page. As things stand now, I'm going to have to go back to each and every button and recode the new destination page numbers manually. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

    All I'm asking is that the functionality be the same as every other page-number-related feature of InDesign.

14. publish online doesn't respect layout

    I can't drop screenshots for confidentiality reasons, but the proportions of objects in the exported 'Publish online' site don't match proportions in the inDesign document.

    -images are strangely blurry even though they have more than enough resolution
    -online objects not aligning with where they appear to on page in working doc, and scaling/cropping within their boxes differently too.

15. InDesign stalls with with new MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

    InDesign is stalling (pausing for up to 30 second) regularly on my new MacBook Air with the Silicon M1 chip. I know it is an Intel Based program but I don't think the emulator is working. Shouldn't Rosetta 2 download automatically when I use InDesign? I presume you (the good folks at Adobe) are working to make it native to the new chip. Happy Holidays. Seth

18. Spell check does not work

    When I open the dialog, it already says "Spell Check Complete" at the top. I changed what to search, to get it to say "Ready to Check Spelling" then clicked "Start", but nothing happens—just goes back to saying "Spell Check Complete".

    InDesign Beta (16.3) running on M1 MacBook Pro.

19. InDesign very slow after update to 16.0 (x64), especially data merge

    Opening the app takes well over half a minute, used to be within 5 sec. Closing with save can take over a minute for a single master page with three variable placeholders. The app feels sluggish to use and there is a visible delay after performing any action, ranging between a fraction of a second and a few seconds.

    This last one has always been the case, but after update it is even worse: exporting a PDF using data merge renders the machine unusable. Mouse cursor moves with visible skips and lengthy delay between those skips, regardless of complexity of the job. Any action takes forever to perform. It is especially egregious with variable images, but even tiny static PDF backgrounds placed on master pages will cause the same issue. This has always been bad, but never this bad prior to 16.0.

    No third party plugins are installed, some files are accessed via the local network, but the connectivity is fast and should under no circumstances be a bottleneck - we work with multiple image processing tools and only Creative Cloud causes grief.

    CPU is a AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core, 3.6 Ghz, 16 GB of RAM. And none of the system resources are being used to the fullest during rendering (snippet attached) - there is literally no valid justification for the operating system being rendered unusable.

20. NEW DOCUMENT DOES NOT APPEAR AFTER LEAVING DOCUMENT SETUP

    WHEN CREATING A NEW DOCUMENT VIA THE UPDATED DOCUMENT SETUP DIALOG, NO DOCUMENT APPEARS AFTER CONFIRMING CHOICES. PRESSING COMMAND-N TO CREATE A SECOND DOCUMENT MAKES THE FIRST DOCUMENT WINDOW APPEAR UNDER THE NEWLY OPENED DOCUMENT SETUP DIALOG.
