Does not work properly for quite some time! 2.1 Completely covered areas, lines and graphics have a slight contour due to the edge smoothing and become minimally visible (although these would actually be invisible and not visible in print) or form minimally soft edges, or corners where there are none! (see screenshot 2) 2.2 Frames with effects and in which images are loaded whose outer edges are 100 percent transparent, form fine gray outer lines on the outer edges where there are none!
   2. effect & effect preview: no longer works properly with texts and shreds them after scaling or makes them invisible! A problem which I never had before and what worked wonderfully before the update. (S. Scrrenshot 3)

   In addition, as an addition bugs in Íllustrator with 3D extrusions and invited images on it! Bugs with Adobe RAW: Zoom Scollrad works no longer or only stuttery!

   Dear Adobe team, what is going on? The whole thing costs a lot of time, a lot of money and nerves ... infinite nerves!!!!!!!!! It's starting to remind me of QuarkXpress!

      Funktioniert seit geraumer Zeit nicht mehr ordnungsgemäß!
      2.1. Vollständig abgedeckte Flächen, Linien und Grafiken haben durch die Kantenglättung auf einmal ein leichte Kontur und werden minimal sichtbar (Obwohl diese eigentlich unsichtbar und im Druck nicht sichtbar wären) oder bilden minimal weiche Kanten, oder Ecken wo keine sind! (S. Screenshot 2)
      2.2 Rahmen mit die mit Effekten versehen sind und in denen Bilder eingeladen werden deren Ausskanten zu 100 Prozent transparent sind, bilden an den Aussenkanten feine graue aussenlinien, wo keine sind!

      funktioniert nicht mehr richtig bei Texten und zerschreddert diese nach Skallierung oder macht diese unsichtbar! Ein Problem welches ich bislang nie hatte und was vor dem Update wunderbar funktionierte. (S. Scrrenshot 3)

3. Indesign crashes when there is a footnote conflict (imported document)

   Beim Importieren eines Word-Dokumentes mit einer Fussnote die über eine Seite lang ist kommt es zu einem fehlerhaften Import wenn die Einstellung des Indesigndokumentes auf "Fussnoten nicht teilen" steht.
   Ab der langen Fussnote wird kein importierter Text mehr dargestellt, jedoch trotz genügen Leerseiten ein Übersatz angezeigt.

   Beim Versuch einer Synchronisation innerhalb eines Buchdokumentes stürzt Indesign ohne Fehlermeldung ab.
   Dies gilt ebenso bei nachfolgenden Buchdokumenten

4. Everything on artboard goes to bitmap intermittently

   Running iD (15.1.3) on Windows 7 - Don't laugh this isn't my machine but the one I have to work on. grrrr!
   Every now and again the entire artboard contents and surrounds (not the UI), changes to low resolution resulting in something resembling a scene from the game Minecraft, fonts images imported vector graphics etc. This is only on inDesign, no other program, so it's not a system or graphics card error. The attached image shows up as all bitmapped but tin reality it's just the artboard that goes pear shaped. Is there a fix for this or is it a case of suck it up and do a total computer re-start as just an inDesign re-start doesn't rectify the problem?

6. Cannot place this file. Invalid PNG file

   In 15.0.3, my publication was print ready

   I updated to 15.1 as I normally would.

   In 15.1, particular .png files were missing. I tried to place the missing images as usual but got the error - Cannot place this file. Invalid PNG file'.

   I rolled back to 15.0.3 and am now able to place the self same files.

   Update bug?

7. Issues with MacOS custom keyboards and InDesign

   The users have InDesign V16.1 installed on macOS Big Sur (11.4).
   They use custom software keyboards (created with Ukelele) to type Native American language characters (Salish via IPA). They use custom fonts that have the required glyphs for the language. OpenType marks are used for composing characters. The fonts are both Unicode and OpenType compliant. Frequently a properly composed character will consist of a primary glyph (such as "K") followed by a combining glottal and a wsuperior. If each key of the custom software keyboard has only a single unicode code point assigned, everything works fine. However, if the custom software keyboard has more than one unicode code point assigned, then only the first unicode code point glyph is accepted and displayed by InDesign. This is consistent and repeatable in InDesign. With all other tested apps (Word, Pages, Mellel, OS Finder, etc) both the custom fonts and custom keyboards work fine (a single keypress, with multiple unicode code points assigned) displays all of the glyphs assigned to the keystroke.

8. Column rules generate overlapped lines in PDF

   InDesign 16.2 (Windows 10 and macOS Big Sur on M1 have the same behaviour).

   I have a text frame with common rules active.
   When I export a PDF (print) InDesign creates two overlapping lines in the exported PDF instead of a single line, to create the rule.
   If I export a PDF (interactive) from the same document, the line is not doubled and overlapped.

   I upload the resulting PDFs made with print and interactive.

   In some workflow, like laser engraving, this is a problem.

   Can you fix this in some way?

9. command and option keys stop working

   Several times a day my command and option keys stop working in Adobe products. Only logging out will briefly fix the problem.

   There doesn't seem to be any clear fixes for this online. Any ideas?

10. Unable to drag & drop images into Indesign 2021 Open File

    • Set-up a new document
    • Have added text and images as normal.
    • Command + D is successful when placing an image, however, drag & drop does nothing. No image shows in the thumbnail near the cursor either.

    This is an issue as it is much quicker to drag & drop than placing the images from different locations.

11. Indesign CC Crashing when assigning character base style to a child style by script.

    Indesine crash evry time i try to assign base character style when the text in question have child style. So i have "Product" character style, and "Bold Product". Text field have Product style on it from get go. Then i use script to edit this field and after that i construct new string and put it in field. So I assign first part of content to field, use Bold Product style on it. Then second part the name of product and I want to assign Product style to it, indesigne crash evry time i try to do it. No matter how i try to assign this style, by whole tkst, by part of text, or by insertpoint. Only way to do it is to define a diffrent style based on Product, for example ProductScript. And it works as intended.

    This isint some crucial problem, but belive me, after 4h of tinkering with it is just... no comment.

13. Tags not Exporting Correctly and other Accessibility Issues

    The latest versions of InDesign often does not export tags to PDF correctly. Other accessibility issues also tend to occur from time to time, but the most common is tagged artifacts lose their tags when exported to PDF. I backsave to InDesign 2019 and re export. All is consistently correct from that version. Would love for Adobe to look into this issue and correct. Our sight-impaired populations require software that makes accessibility easier with each upgrade, not harder. (Reinventing the process every few upgrades doesn't help either.) Thanks!

14. 2021 variable font not printing

    InDesign 2021 v 16.0 when I use the Acumin Variable Concept font in any style it doesn't print. I have no errors on the document just blank boxes where the text would be.

15. table of contents very buggy

    i think i know how to use indesign cc's table of contents feature, but it doesn't seem to work as advertised, or demonstrated in numerous videos. i cannot get the revisions to the toc paragraph styles to effect changes in the toc itself. despite the revised and selected paragraph style showing the new redefined settings, the toc only changes what is highlighted (not the rest of the elements in that style) and then reverts back to the original display on update. will be faster to just design it as a text block, which i don't think is the point. anyone?

18. Unable to kill find missing fonts background process

    If the preferences setting to automatically find missing fonts is set, there are three major issues:

    1/ The background process never times out,
    2/ The background process severely degrades InDesign performance for everything else, and
    3/ There is no way to manually kill that background process. If we could, then issues 1 and 2 would not be such problems. If the fonts aren't found, or the internet connection is hinky, or if the Adobe servers are under heavy load or having other issues, we could just kill that background process and then either try again later or design an workaround without those missing fonts.

    The ability to kill this background process is a glaring design gap. We should be able to kill it, or at least disable it for a document (like we can disable automatic preflight).

19. Certain overrides on Objects Styles do not hold when synchronizing Book

    Overrides on Objects Styles when synchronizing.

    Object styles: I have all the overrides (that I tested, such as background color, type of stroke) holding, BUT the XY coordinate. (position of the object on the page)

    When I hit sync, all the overrides hold, including the size of the object (which is in the same Style menu), but not the Position. This means all the objects with the Style on it jump to their default position, resulting in a bad mess.

    My imperfect solution is to remove the XY position from the Object Styles — I want to be able to sync, but can we please fix this?

    I tested this in cc20 and cc 21

20. Phonetic tie and World-Ready Composer

    I'm seeing a behavior that I believe to be a bug. When I have a phonetic spelling with a tie character—for example, d͡ʒ"—using Indesign's paragraph composer, Indesign renders it as three characters—d + [tie] + ʒ. When I change to the world-ready paragraph composer, however, InDesign joins the tie to the character before it such that it can't be moved. I tried using a non-joiner between them, but InDesign just joins the tie to the non-joiner.
