2. URL Hyperlinks not working

   I am working on MacOS Ventura (brand-new update, November 9 2022) in the most up-to-date version of InDesign. Had the same problem on the latest Mac system as well.

   My hyperlinks are trying to "link to destination" and won't open, even though I have unchecked "Shared Hyperlink Destination" and have "link to URL" selected. See screenshot for the popup shown by Acrobat when you try to click the link.

   I have tried everything, no clue what to do. Please help.

4. InDesign crashes when deleting pages from multiple files

   This doesn't happen on every single file, but it happens probably once a week or so. I will need to delete anywhere from a couple pages to a couple hundred pages in an InDesign file, and when I try to delete those pages, InDesign will freeze and crash.

   The option in Preferences to add pages to the end of the Story Editor is not checked on, so that isn't causing it.

   The issue will persist even if I save the file as an idml and open in older CC versions. Thank heavens I still have my old CS6, because the only solution I have ever found for this issue is to open the idml in CS6, delete the pages, resave, and then open the file in CC 2023 and continue working.

   If that solution isn't viable because the document uses features that weren't available in CS6, then I end up having to recreate the file entirely by copy+pasting the main story over to a new document and then recreating every other element in the original document.

   This costs me anywhere from an hour to several hours of billable work time every week, and I'm sick of it. I should not have to use 10-year-old software to do something basic like delete pages from a document.

5. high CPU usage version 17.2

   as referred in these posts there is a performance problem with indesign that coming from version 17.0 and still exist(version 17.2):

   No answer from Adobe , No fix , nothing unfortunately. It uses about 20 % of CPU when you open Indesign , it does not matter there is a document that is opened or not , it uses 20% of CPU all the time. non of other Adobe's 2022 apps have this weird problem.

6. Errors when using the Share for Review feature with highlight, strike-through and replace text.

   I have the InDesign v. 18.0
   Everytime I use the Share for Review feature, no matter where I highlight, strike-through or replace the text, the place where I want to make the suggestion is never accurate. If I try to highlight a text, when I see it the InDesign program and click the review in the Review window, it just brings me to a different page. The highlighted text isn't even highlighted at all. Same with strike-through and replace text. Of course, I can see the comment within the Review window, but when I click it, it usually brings up a different page from the one I actually selected for the review. It won't even tell me what text has the review.
   However, the pin feature and draw shape feature work really well. That's why I thought this was a bug. It's just off, not accurate at all but only with those 3 features previously mentioned.
   What I expect from it is that it actually highlights the text with the review (not just bring me to a random space in the doc) or show an actual strike-through or a text replacement icon. Or to, at least, show me the actual text that has a review in general.

   In the screenshot, I'm clicking the "Replace text" ewview and it brings me to that page that only has images. The next page is the one I made the review on. And it won't even show me what line in the text has the review.

7. Menu drop down

   My drop down menus do not work, they will open after double clicking and holding down on second click, but any secondary menus will not open. I'm using Mac OS Monterey 12.4, and InDesign 17.3.

8. buggy footnote placement

   Footnotes are randomly placed in the middle of the text stream, rather than the bottom of the page. I've seen it happen a couple times, but I don't know why it happens. Other footnotes are placed in the correct position.

   In Document Footnote Options, Place end of Story Footnotes at Bottom of Text is UNchecked. However, I get the same result if it IS checked.

   The worst part is that there is NO way to correct this!

   I tried to upload the INDD files, and a PNG screen shot, but in both cases, it produced an error, "Files are not supported and have been removed." Please contact me for the files showing the error.
   Using InDesign on Windows, v17.3 x64

9. Data Merge to PDF duplicating fields

   When using Export to PDF directly from the Data Merge tab the first 3 records are duplicated on each page. It uses the same data on every single page. If you first create an InDesign merged document the data is correct

10. Bug with paragraph borders across multiple textboxes.

    1. Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server
       17.0.1 x64

    2. Steps to reproduce the issues
       Link some textboxes, fill boxes with text, and apply a paragraph border to all (or a large amount) of the text.

    3. Expected result
       If "Display Border if Paragraph Splits Across Frames/Columns" is unchecked, there should be no paragraph border from one column to the next regardless of whether or not a paragraph concludes at the bottom of the textbox.

    4. Actual result
       If a paragraph begins on one textbox and concludes on the next textbox, everything works as it should. However, if a paragraph finishes at the end of a textbox, it will display a line border at the bottom regardless of whether or not the next paragraph in the next textbox has the same border settings.

    5. Test file, screenshot, video or GIF capturing the issue (optional)
       Left, this textbox has a border, even though the following paragraph has the same settings and should therefore merge. Right, the textbox displays correctly, because the paragraph continues from one box to the next.

    There is also a bug within this bug, which I mentioned here https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/don-t-display-border-if-consecutive-borders-splits-accross-frames-columns/m-p/13326155#M501200 but let's fix the bug first, and fix the bug in the bug later.

11. Moving pages between documents buggy in indesign 18.0

    When attempting to move pages from one .indd file to another, the application occasionaly tells me that the page format is different, which it isn't. What happens is the pages don't show up in the target document although being deleted from the source doc (delete pages box checked) … closing and reopening the application helps sometimes but not for good. Is there any way to resolve this issue?

    I am using Roboto condensed regular to write foreword for a booklet. I just wonder why I the font type is capitalised in case in default, and I cannot change it to lower case. I have tried Type > Change Case, but it doesn't work.

13. Style mapping no longer seems to work between Word and InDesign

    Previously I was able to import Word (v16.62) documents into InDesign and map its Paragraph Styles to my INDD template's Paragraph Styles.

    In the latest version of InDesign (17.2.1), this does not seem to work, and the Paragraph Styles only come in in a single style.

    I have gone back and tested this using old files, which previously worked, but they now do not work: the Style Mapping doesn't seem to register at all.

14. Critical Bug with Font embedding on PDF Export - InDesign 17.2 and up

    OS: Windows 10
    Version: InDesign 17.2 and 17.2.1

    After the update to 17.2 and 17.2.1 the font embedding is not working properly anymore on PDF Export. It does not matter if we export to PDF/X-3 or smallest file size.

    The font in question here is Roboto Slab.
    After a downgrade to 17.1 everything worked properly. An upgrade to 17.2.1 again produced the same error.

    Expected result: propper font integration
    Actual result: Missing embedded font, text is torn apart, missing characters

15. Rulers exceeding text boundaries, only paragraph shading or offsets seem to be able to limit them

    The issue is described in this thread (sample .INDD file link included in the thread to reproduce the issue):

    The excess rulers that go beyond the text boundary can only be removed (or masked, not sure which is actually happening) with paragraph shading.

    As a rule, rulers should not go beyond the text boundary, and they should adapt to the text boundary (if font size have been changed, or if other changes have been made that affect the layout).

    But the green arrows show that in some cases the boundary is correct.

    It shouldn't be necessary to add both offsets and paragraph shading to get the rulers right.

    The paragraph shading trick is not a real solution, that I guess is just overlapping the rulers but it does not trim them.

16. InDesign not displaying actual (print) size

    InDesign 2021 does not actually show you the printed size of the document.

    There are two potential (and faulty) options to achieve this currently:

    1. Set the zoom level to 100%: On various forums I've read that this should let you view the document at actual print size. A document that physically takes up 10x10cm on your screen, should print at 10x10cm.

    In effect, that doesn't happen and the 100% renders my document at a way larger size than what it's actual size. (I'm literally holding up a ruler against my screen, and a 10cm wide page is about 20cm wide on the screen).

    1. Go to view>view actual size: This one comes closer - the document (and thus objects in it) are rendered about 1.3 smaller than the real-actual dimensions they'll be printed at (as opposed to 2 times bigger in the previous method).

    Again, this doesn't actually work and I'm wondering what it's intended to do.

    My suggested solution:

    I'm using a 4k, 15.6" Dell monitor, and photoshop did this also. It even has a "printed size" in addition to "actual size", which also didn't render things in their correct size.

    I understood that photoshop assumes all screens are at 72dpi, and that causes the incorrect rendering. After "telling" photoshop my actual monitor dpi, which is 283 - it began rendering things correctly when choosing "view print size".

    I when to edit>preferences>units&increments, and tried setting the "points/inch" setting. It was at 72 at default, and I thought that setting it to 283 would solve the problem.

    When I tried doing so, a popup came up and said "the value must be between 60 and 80". So this obviously doesn't work. I'm wondering why this would be the case, as screens today have dpi's of way over 72 and 80.
    Maybe allowing entering higher dpi's will solve this problem?

    Anyway, if anyone knows a solution/idea on how to display print size, I'd love to hear it.

17. different color appearance of different files of same settings and colors when both windows are open and change by mouse over

    Two documents with the same settings. The same graphic in these documents appear differently in each document. But the appearance of the colors change by mouse over to look alike the colors in the other document. Both windows of the documents are opened at the same time. It must be a bug in the software.

    I'm using Indesign 18.0 of the Adobe creative cloud
    On a MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020)

18. publish indesign file not working with Indesign 2023

    Indesign 2023. MacOS 12.6.1. Shared Device License (Lab iMacs). When going to Publish an Indesign document it errors. Installed 2022 version of Indesign, the Publish option works.

    When attempting this on a Mac with a Named License it works though, but not when using this in a Lab (Higher Ed) on iMacs with the Shared Device License.

20. Bug: Conditional text not shown as underlined when text is marked otherwise

    Version: Indesign 17.x on Windows 10
    Problem: Sometimes text is being marked in bright yellow by Indesign. This is something related to character spacing and hyphenation and set. If that text is also set to be conditional, the underlines are not shown. In the attached picture you see it. This is a continuous conditional text.
