1. Windows Warning Beep

   UPDATE: I've narrowed down the problem to the Exclamation Program Event in Windows Sound. With that set to (None), the beeping no longer occurs.

   When I go into inDesign, I go to any window and I hear Windows warning beeps non-stop, like I'm doing something inDesign doesn't like. If I go into Pages or Layers, they cause no issue. If I go into Preferences or Margins and Columns, then I get the beeping.

   I am using Windows 10 with the latest updates.
   I haven't used inDesign within the last few months, and it wasn't do it then. I used the alt+ctrl+shift Preference Reset. Didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Same problem. I turned off Windows Sounds, and the problem goes away. Turned it back on, the problem returns.

   I checked Photoshop and Lightroom Classic, and there is no problem there. I tried turning off some processes in my computer, same problem. I went to Computer Management > Event Viewer > Application and got:

2. Indesign - main navigation menu glitch

   When I hover my mouse over any of the main nav items (file or edit or layout etc.). and click the menu does not appear. When I click a second time it appears but does not allow me to browse down to select any items - them menu items disappear as soon as I move my mouse. This happens on tool menu items too such as the links window menu. It doesn't do it all the time, but say 1 in 4 times I open indesign. Super frustrating - any one else have this bug/ issue?

3. links problems

   Problem on the new INDESIGN 17.4 update with links panel, all my links are OK and files are in the Link folder but cannot export to PDF due to not accessible URL !

   I've to manually update every files of every In design project !
   It doesn't work either with the update link folder option in the panel !

4. Indesign and Illustrator latest version unusable

   I’m very angry because the latest version of indesign (17.3) is virtually unusable. If I select an image or text box on a layout I get a spinning wheel for 10 - 15 seconds. If I try to move something - spinning wheel 10-15 seconds. Even Adobe Illustrator 26.4 behave this way.

   I downgraded to indesign 16.4.2 and Illustrator 25.4.6 because I cannot work this way. Previous versions did not behave this way on this same condition and computer.

   These are the comments to your workarounds:

   1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version. NOTHING CHANGES.

   
2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc. NO THIRD-PARTY APPLICATIONS INSTALLED
.

   1. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible. INTERMITTENT, EVERY 5 MINUTES OCCURS
.

   2. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc. NO PLUGIN INSTALLED.

   iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020), MacOS Big Sur 11.6.7, 64Gb RAM, 1 SSD drive 2 TB, AMD Radeon Pro 5700 8 GB.

   Please don't tell me to upgrade to Apple last OS, I don't want to do it.

5. moved graphics still visible.

   V.18 has to be the buggiest version of ID ever released, and I used Pagemaker before I used ID... Any file I've worked on leaves the graphic slightly visible when I move it, flashing in and out of view. People must be having seizures over this. It also happens with type. If I delete type, and then click off the text box, the text box flashes the old type back where it was for a fraction of a second, complete with rewrap, and it all takes time for things that ought to be mindless. I can't figure out how to turn that off. There seems to be no preference to turn this feature off, this feature that never existed before.

6. Pasting Word tracked changes text keeps the old text as well as changes

   When 'Text Only' is selected in Preferences/Clipboard Handling, pasting from a Word doc that has tracked changes results in the old edits (such as deletions) being retained in the pasted text in InDesign.

   If this isn't a bug, perhaps there's a way to make these ramifications more obvious to the user.

7. UK spell check not recognising US spellings as incorrect

   UK spell check not recognising US spellings as incorrect.

   e.g the word 'customize' appears in the story. In UK English this would be 'customise'. The spell checker should recognise this as incorrect, but does not.

   Spell check language has been set to UK English.

8. I can't see anything except drop down menu items when I create a new document

   That's just it. I create a new document. Put in the pages, margins, units etc.. then.. nothing. Nothing comes up. I can still see the menu items and am able to save the file - but I can't see it or work in it.
   I tried pressing spacebar. nah
   I tried opening from file.. nah
   I tried different views and different previews. Nothing.
   Illustrator works just fine.
   Also, what's the difference between open normal and open original?
   I can't believe I had to waste 30 minutes on this.

9. InDesign steals focus in Windows 10 - again (2022)

   If you switch to another application, while InDesign is launching, InDesign will steal the focus back, even repeatedly if you are quick enough to switch to the other application more than once, and/or have a slow computer (e.g. battery saver mode while opening a large document may exaggerate the problem).

   I'm fairly certain that this irritating behaviour was gone from late 2017, since the earlier bug report (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/31913773-indesign-steals-focus-in-windows-10) was closed after lack of activity (3 years old) in 2021, and the old thread on the forum https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/how-to-prevent-adobe-software-stealing-focus-in-windows-10-locked/td-p/7773884/page/5 was active until late 2017. At Nov 17th 2017 users edvardkrupke and Peter Bullit wrote that the problem was gone with the latest InDesign update at that time.

   Please remove this very unwanted behaviour (again)!

10. pdf compare

    Hi Team,

    While performing Textual compare in Acrobat DC if there is any changes in optinal hypen in a Paragraph it not shown in the compare report both Textual and Visual.

    But if we perform the same test in Acrobat 7 optional hypen changes show perfectly. We are ready to use Acrobat DC but becuase of this issue we are still using Acrobat 7. We mentioned this compare issue number of times but no action was taken so far.

    I attached Compare report (Text and visual) of Acrobat 7 and DC. I also attched the Acrobat DC version that we used, and Acrbat DC compare setting. Also attached sample PDF for your reference.

11. Menu/panel bugs

    Indesign 2022 v17.4 (up to date with latest version)
    Upon opening indesign, resetting menus and preferences, restarting, etc. Issues have been ongoing for at least a week.

    Align menu items are offset so that the ones at the bottom can't be used.
    Paragraph and character menu fields are offset, can't be selected or edited and randomly cause indesign to crash and close completely when clicked.

13. Chaparral Pro not loading

    InDesign 2023 18.0 x64
    If I go to fonts.adobe.com and activate Chaparral Pro, when I go back to InDesign, the font is not loaded.

    I tried restarting InDesign, the Computer, everything.

14. Bug report: Incopy idml files does not show up in assignments palette

    Indesign - Incopy
    I can’t handle multiple idml files in the assignment palette/InDesign.
    It could be related to system update installation - the problem appeared right after installing MacOs Ventura.
    I can only drag one or two - not three or more - text objects into Incopy assignments in a Indesign document. It produces idml-files, but they are not shown in the assignments palette. Editing ‘Add all stories to assignment’ does not work either.
    Does anybody have an idea what I can do to solve it or I have to wait for a bug fix?

16. Won't let me scale gradient panel up/down

    Indesign won't allow me to scale the gradient panel up or down, it is stuck at a constant size which makes it hard/impossible to work with complicated gradients. The issue doesn't appear to be on any other panel that i'm using.

18. Indesign 2023 does not use your working space

    I found out when making pdfs of black only images. It was making them 4c images which is wrong. I checked my color settings which were correct. The work around is to click assign profile and select your current working space. I tried the same layouts in 2022 and it worked just fine.

    ÖNERİ:

    "Karakter stilleri" ve Paragraf stilleri" ayarlarında, "Büyük/Küçük Harf Değiştir" seçenekleri olmalı. Stillere verebileceğimiz "Büyük/Küçük Harf Değiştir" ayarları ile işimiz daha da kolaylaşacak.

20. Keep scroll position in Pages Panel

    In Pages Panel I scroll to a position so I can select a small range of pages (both ends of selection is visible in the Panel), I switch focus to another document, afterwards when return to edit the original document the Pages Panel scroll position is not where I left it, it is scrolled away so only the first page of my selection is visible at the bottom.
    Please leave Pages scroll where it was when refocusing to a document.
