JPG 300dpi export with horizontal lines
When I export photo albums as JPG with the latest version, some images have horizontal lines. I've had the problem since macOS 10.14. (now catalina) and with older Indesign versions. If I change the size or position of the image, the stripes may disappear. If I use the DPI e.g. set to 301, the lines will also disappear.

On Export - "Save As" name field not consistently highlighted by default
- 15.1.3 version
- Open InDesign, open file, click on a page, CMD E to export.
- Expect "SAVE AS" field highlighted to be able to change export name, as with previous versions.
- Sometimes nothing appears to be highlighted, taking hitting TAB several times to get to the "SAVE AS" field. However, sometimes it is highlighted - so this is not a consistant problem - as sometimes it does come up highlighted. It does seem that when I first open a file / export - that it is not highlighted, but after that, it does come up correctly highlighted.

Exporting to PNG file on network drive doesn't work
There appears to be a bug when exporting PNG files to network mapped drives in Mac OS X 10.13.4 (Darwin) Adobe InDesign 2018 (latest version).
This is in a domain environment using domain credentials. You export the file as PNG and it doesn't appear in the folder as expected. If I export to desktop it works fine, if I copy it from desktop to the share it copies fine. Just cannot export directly.
9 votesHello,
Can you confirm the InDesign version you are using? Is it 2018.1 or 2018?
I assume the path to which you are trying to export the PNG is /Volumes/Shares/011 Changed Information/002 Changed Information/00617 Changed Information/Changed/ ?Is this drive mounted via SMB?
Is it a NAS server? -
JPG exports render horizontal "rips" in the image
Exporting an image as a jpg is bugged and renders horizontal rips in the image. Easily seen in this photo of power lines. Compare with a png-export which looks fine.

Placed PNG in InDesign, than export as PNG ... unfortunately the placed PNG displays as grey box.
Placed PNG in InDesign, than exported as PNG ... unfortunately the placed PNG displays as grey box. I tested the same file and exported it as a PDF and as a JPG the placed PNG is visible. Hardware and software is up-to-date.

PNG Export Quality
There is a huge difference in the rendering quality of JPEGs vs PNGs in InDesign.
See attached document that demonstrates the difference between the two formats, exported from the same InDesign document, using maximum quality, 72 DPI with anti-aliasing turned on.
The obvious differences are the moiré in the white top and the edges of the legs in the girl at the bottom, including the fine detail in the stitching.
It would be great if the PNG export engine could be improved.

Placed TIF files export as grey boxes when exported to PNG format
InDesign 19.5, macOS 14.6.1, Apple M1 Max chip
With no document open, set the default view to "Fast" by choosing View > Display Performance > Fast Display.
Create a new document, and place a TIF image on the page.
Choose File > Export, and select PNG for the export format.
The TIF image will export as a gray box. It should export as the actual image. Even if you choose View > Display Performance > High Quality Display and export again, the TIF image will still export as a gray PNG.
If you close the file, change the InDesign default…

Linked Image Canvas Resampling Pixelated Issue
When a linked image canvas size greatly exceeds the image frame size, the linked image is pixelated in both the InDesign preview and the PNG export. JPG exports do not exhibit this issue.
Please note in the attached images two different linked PSD files. The file on left is cropped to the extent of the rasterized letter 'a'. In the file on the right, the rasterized 'a' has the same pixel dimensions as the first, but the Photoshop document canvas is much larger. This results in a poorly resampled PNG export.

InDesign jpg Export
When I export a jpg from InDesign (16.1) (it doesn't matter if I export it in low or high resolution) the exported jpg shows some "glitches". This error occours only if I export pixel images. I can fix this when i copy the content from the InDesign file into a Photoshop file and eyport it from there… but this workaround is pretty annoying.

Unwanted dark lines generated around PNG files on export
Adobe Indesign 2021
When I export designs using an imported PNG graphic, the finished PDF shows an unwanted dark line around the crop area of the PDF.
This doesn't seem to happen with jpegs or ai files.3 votes -

No warning about missing links when exporting to jpeg or png
If I have a document with a missing link, I get a warning when exporting to PDF that there are missing links. If I am exporting a jpeg or a png of the same document, I don't get any warnings at all about missing links and simply get pixelated graphics in the output.
Exporting to a bitmap image should have the same warnings about missing links that exporting to PDF does.
- InDesign 18.4 (Windows), but this has been the case for several versions now.
- Place a graphic, then move the linked file so that it shows up as missing. Export…

I put the screenshots in order so you can see my problem.
and I don’t have that problem when I export directly to my desktop. Thanks

Transparent PNG Export generates dark lines in the half transparent shadow regions
InDesign 16.2.1
Trying to export transparent PNG files from InDesign from a page with a transparent PSD source, results in PNG files with dark lines in the shadow region of the exported png.
When deselect or select the "simulate overprinting" checkbox before export, the lines may disappear and the exported png is as expected.
