1. Option to turn off auto centre when selecting layers

   When selecting objects in my layers panel, my screen jumps to that object. This is not what I want. No way. Never.

   Sometimes i go through my layers and select them to see what they are especially if they aren't named. But i don't want to navigate to them automatically! If i have zoomed in and am looking at a particular object, there is no way i want some automatic feature to take me away to a different part of the document - just so i have to zoom out and go back to where i was focusing on.
   Big time wasting feature right there.

2. Layers panel addressing one page at a time (even with spreads) for 508 compliancy

   My agency has to do a lot of remediation to our files to meet accessibility requirements. Currently we use the layers panel to arrange objects on the page so that the reading order makes sense when the PDFs are read using assistive software. With files set up in spreads, all items on the spread are considered in the reading order despite the final PDF being output as single pages. It would be nice if the layers panel could be configured to address one page at a time (vs. two pages, as it is now). For simple projects, the spread approach works fine, but as projects become more complex and with the addition of more pages, this becomes extremely time consuming to remediate.

3. Typelock/Copyguard: Protect textfields from textual input. for safer use of keyboard shortcuts

   Nobody want's typo's and as a designer I don't want to be responsible for making them after the client send me their final copy.
   So, a big quality of life feature would be if I could protect textfields from textual input, yet they are still moveable, sizeable, scaleable , etc.
   Usecase: You just resolved all textual feedback and now want to finish the design of the magazine. The fastest way to work is to use keyboards shortcuts, but there is a risk of accidentally type instead of changing a tool.

   In short:
   - Protect textfield from textual input. (with a button or switch as visual cue to turn on and off)
   - Keep textfields editable in scale, placement, rotation, etc
   - If possible text can be selected and changed stylistically.

4. Support Multiple PDF Preset Exports During File Packaging

   The Problem:

   Currently, when finalizing a project, designers must manually run multiple export cycles. We have to export a clean "Proof" PDF (no crops/bleeds) for client approval, and then a "Print" PDF (with crops/bleeds) for the press vendor. Doing this separately for every single job adds unnecessary clicks, wastes time, and introduces the risk of human error (e.g., forgetting to update one of the PDFs after a last-minute edit).

   The Requested Feature:

   Expand the "Package" dialog box settings to allow users to select multiple PDF Output Presets simultaneously via checkboxes.

   When the user hits "Package," InDesign should automatically generate all selected PDF presets and place them directly into the final packaged folder.

   Why This Helps InDesign Users:

   Efficiency:

   Cuts the time spent on manual file handoffs in half.

   Accuracy:

5. Allow use of numerical font weights instead of labels

   Please include an option to use font numerical weights in paragraph/character styles. Font weight labels are not standardized among fonts. A variant could be labelled Normal, Book, Regular, Roman, or any other label that the font foundry thought was a good idea at the time. That means in my character style menu, there are many different labels corresponding to the same weight.

   If InDesign internally tracked its weights numerically, I wouldn't have to use a separate character style for different uses of Semibold just because one foundry calls it "Semi Bold" or "SemiBold" or "SemiBd". CSS has this feature even for static fonts, so I know more than just variable fonts support this sort of functionality: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/Reference/Properties/font-weight

   This functionality doesn't even need to be directly exposed to the user; rather it could be a change to how InDesign (and Illustrator) treats font variants internally. If you use "SemiBd" for a character style, it would simply use the corresponding numerical weight if that character style is being used with a different font that doesn't call that weight "SemiBd".

6. Remove or Disable Share Button

   I need to have the option to Disable or Remove the Share Button. It is constantly running in the background and slows down InDesign significantly. I work in an office where I will never share a document in InDesign and I'm sure there are a lot of people who are in the same situation.

   This has slowed down my work and the other managers are not happy. We are looking at switching to Affinity.

8. Increase bounding box line thickness via Preferences > User Interface Scaling > Anchor Points, Handle, and Bounding Box Display Size

   I would like the option in Preferences > User Interface Scaling > Anchor Points, Handle, and Bounding Box Display Size to be able to thicken the bounding box lines more. The Anchor Points and Handle are plenty big even with low scaling, but even with large scaling, the lines don't get thick enough for me to see well on my high-res display. Thanks for considering.

9. "Preview" checkbox selected by default in ALL dialog boxes

   Please make it to where the "Preview" checkbox starts out checked by default.
   OR: why not get rid of the box altogether.
   We definitely want to preview the changes we're making w/o having to check an extra box every time.

10. Support for CMYKOGV (eg. FOGRA 55)

    Certification was completed back in 2021 after conclusion of a FOGRA research project. The color exchange profile (ICC) can be downloaded from the FOGRA website.

    In essence expanded (or extended, varies by publication) color gamut offset printing is the idea of increasing the color space of CMYK using 3 additional colors (orange, green, violet).

    CMYKOGV as characterized by FOGRA 55 is proofable using Epson SureColor printers (P7570, P9570).

    I have seen several printers already offering 7c offset print. These days it's basically to cut down on cost (to achieve almost complete Pantone coverage without having to resort to actually spot colors).

    A first viable compatibility step would be for InDesign to export CMYKOGV in PDF/X-3/X-1a as 4C + spot color plates, since FOGRA 55 is based on FOGRA 51.

    The obvious missing piece is for InDesign to actually support CMYKOGV, which in itself is going to be quite a journey as the color model is everything but intuitive.

    Maybe the use of an exchange color space (CMYK or RGB) that maps 100% to the gamut of CMYKOGV and is only separated on export (or for separation preview) would be the way to implement that in a way that users will actually be able to deal with.

    Right now I have a project, which would usually be done in offset printing given the scale, but for DTP color gamut reasons will probably have to be done in digital print. It's rare to have the issue that you have the technical means to get it printed, but lack the means to create the preprint files these days.

    There are sketchy workarounds, such as providing preprint files where some objects are defined in RGB color spaces, then get it proofed using 7c target and hope that the printing shop will actually manage to convert the RGB objects into 7c the right way.

11. A context-sensitive search function for Paragraph Styles

    When all I need to see is one instance of a style, with no particular text string specified, It would be great to be able to right-click on a paragraph style in the style menu and simply choose "Find Style" rather than having to open the FIND/CHANGE menu, clear it of any previous entries, and fill in all the new parameters before I can make that one simple search.

    EXAMPLE: My client composes her business books in Word and often uses up to nine or 10 "Headings." I just want to see an instance of them so I can get an idea of their appearance and a sense of how they've been used. It is a hassle to go back and forth to the FIND/CHANGE dialogue for every single "heading" style used when all I want is a quick look. It would be much easier just to right-click on a style in the paragraph palette, fully understanding it has limitations and is mainly just for looking, not changing, etc.

    If I only had one or two instances like this in the document, it wouldn't be so bad, but with a book-length business book with many headings, it is cumbersome and a little maddening to have to keep going back and forth with the FIND/CHANGE menu.

12. InDesign 2026 - PDF Export Generates Abnormal File Size

    After updating to InDesign 2026, exporting PDF files results in drastically larger file sizes compared to previous versions (e.g., from 6 MB to 50 MB) with the exact same content.

    The issue persists even when:

    The "Smallest File Size" preset is used.

    The Compression settings (downsampling) have been verified and correctly set to 72 ppi.

    This appears to be a regression bug introduced in version 2026 that either ignores or poorly handles compression settings or the management of vector/transparency elements during export.

    Sometimes I encounter very long chapter titles, and when using variable headers, they don't wrap automatically. Is there a good solution for this?

    Add a new option to the Vertical Justification settings for text frames: "Conditional Justify".
    Behavior

    When Conditional Justify is selected, vertical justification is applied only when the text frame is sufficiently filled.
    Add a numeric field: Content fill threshold (%).
        If the frame’s text occupies a percentage equal to or greater than this threshold, the frame receives full vertical justification.
        If the frame’s fill is below this threshold, the frame uses the chosen fallback alignment.
    

    Fallback option

    Provide a dropdown: Fallback alignment with the classic vertical choices: Top, Center, Bottom.
    

    Notes / Suggested defaults

    Default Content fill threshold: 90% (editable).
    Default Fallback alignment: Top.
    Show a small live preview or indicator in the Text Frame Options dialog that displays the current frame’s content fill percentage.
    

    Rationale (brief)

    This lets designers apply full vertical justification only when a frame is nearly full, avoiding awkward spacing in partially filled frames while maintaining consistent alignment when content is dense.
    Additional conditions may be added later (e.g., minimum/maximum number of paragraphs, presence of headings, or specific glyph counts).

15. QR Code Indesign - Business Tittle

    Hi there, I was happy to create a QR Code in InDesign, but I encountered 2 issues:

    1. The Title doesn't display above the name in the .vcf file. Instead displays the email which you can find later below in the email section. Can anyone help me in How can this be fixed?

    2. There is no option to include a Logo. It would be great to have this option.

16. Right-click "remove hyperlink"

    Why can't Adobe do this yet? It is 2025 for God's sake. Removing a hyperlink is a multi-step process. It should be a simple right click. And I am talking about the actual hyperlink, not the character style. I already have a script that will remove unwanted styles with no active hyperlink beneath them. I just want a FAST, EASY way to remove unwanted hyperlinks that clients ALWAYS seem to insert, even though they know they don't want them included.

17. custom page numbering

    When you want to number the pages differently than the standard correlative, for example with a date system, weekly, monthly... There is no automatic option for the pages to be numbered by day of the week. If in addition to the options 1, 2, 3... 01, 02, 03... a, b, c... i, ii, iii... you add a "custom" with a popup to a list of... for example 20 custom fields (for months, weeks, work groups, jobs...) would be perfect.

18. Auto delete imported remarks after accepting them

    When importing a pdf with remark/correctionss , its impossible to delete multiple remarks after accepting them. It would be great to have an option that deletes the remark after accepting it. I often have 700 pages books with 3000+ remarks. Indesign becomes soooo slow.

19. Convert Page Guides to Spread Guides

    I would like to suggest a small but highly useful improvement for a future update of InDesign.

    Currently, when guides are placed within a single page, there is no built-in way to convert them into spread guides (guides that span across the entire spread), unless they are re-created manually while holding Ctrl/Cmd during placement. This becomes especially frustrating when a layout contains a large number of precisely positioned guides that need to be extended to the full spread — for example, after a reorganization of pages or when switching from single-page to spread layout.

    Feature suggestion:
    Please consider adding an option to convert selected page guides into spread guides directly — either via right-click context menu (Convert to Spread Guide) or through a menu item under Layout > Guides.

    This small addition would greatly improve workflow efficiency and reduce repetitive manual adjustments in guide-heavy documents, particularly for designers working on magazines, catalogs, or editorial layouts.

20. Add Ligature on/off button to the available space for the character type panel

    Due to the recent update (June 2025), there is now an open space for another button on the character style in the Control Panel. The design with the additional space is throwing me off when clicking on Superscript. Adding a button for turning Ligatures on and off would absolutely make life easier. Right now you can turn on/off in character and paragraph style panels, or you have to go to the drop down Menu in the Character panel.
