Specify a master page for automatically-inserted blank pages
The book functionality allows you to specify even/odd page starts for chapters, and allows you to insert a blank page if a chapter doesn't fall on the desired type of page. But nowhere can you select the master page to be used for the inserted page.
This renders the feature crippled for a great many documents. For example, manuals and legal documents typically require "This page intentionally blank" on blank pages, to assure the reader that the document is complete. This is standard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intentionally_blank_page
The question has been raised of what happens if the parent you specified for blanks doesn't exist in the file that needs a blank page appended.
The most straightforward solution (and easiest to implement) would be to add the "blank"-page parent selector to the indd file instead of to the book. Suggested UI attached.

Integrate Optical Margin Alignment into Paragraph tab
Currently, the Story tab is a standalone tab, offering only one checkbox: the Optical Margin Alignment option. This functionality, in my opinion, is closely related to paragraph adjustments, such as paragraph alignment within text boxes. Given its nature, it seems more intuitive and efficient to integrate Optical Margin Alignment within the Paragraph tab or the main text formatting panel.
Adding the Story tab to my workspace alongside essential tabs like Character, Paragraph, and various styles consumes more horizontal screen space than necessary. Once positioned next to other panels, the tab's label, "Story," becomes difficult to read due to the limited space.
By integrating Optical Margin Alignment into a more appropriate existing tab, users could enjoy a streamlined and space-efficient workspace.

Direct Editing of Photoshop Layers in InDesign
Description:
Currently, users must switch back to Photoshop to edit layer details, masks, or effects before re-importing images into InDesign. This process can be time-consuming and interrupts the creative flow. It would be highly efficient to enable direct editing of Photoshop layers—such as brush adjustments, opacity, blend modes, and layer masks—within InDesign itself, without needing to reopen Photoshop.Benefits for Users:
Streamlines the workflow by reducing the need to switch between Photoshop and InDesign
Speeds up the design process, as minor adjustments could be made directly in InDesign
Allows more flexibility in applying last-minute edits and achieving the desired look without leaving InDesign
Enables consistent creative control across Adobe programs, especially beneficial for users who frequently work with layered images
Feature Suggestion:
Implement tools that allow InDesign to recognize and edit the individual layers of linked Photoshop files. Key features could include basic layer controls (visibility, opacity, blending modes) and essential tools like brushes, erasers, and layer masking, so users can make non-destructive edits withoutDescription:

InDesign Review Panel should NOT switch the filter to 'Resolved' when editing text with older resolved comments
I am often working on documents with multiple review sessions. The problem that occurs since the latest updates of InDesign is that as soon as I put the cursor in a piece of text which previously had a comment attached to it which is resolved, all resolved comments pop up in the comments panel and I cannot see the current comments: all comments are immediately filtered to 'resolved'. Of course I can switch off the filter for resolved comments again, but it switches back again to 'resolved comments' as soon as I start working on the text. This is driving me nuts, because it is not only annoying, it becomes very difficult to work on the unresolved comments and takes up a lot of time. As a work around I now have to open the online document with the current unresolved comments to track down what actually still needs to be resolved. Apparently this is 'as designed', but this is driving designers crazy. Please help!
More details and screen recordings can be found in this discussion on the Adobe Community: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/indesign-review-panel-automatically-filters-to-resolved-comments-when-editing-text/td-p/14619901I am often working on documents with multiple review sessions. Update text box design so that the middle bottom anchor point isn't almost always hidden by "Explore more text options" / "O" icon
The text box needs an update. I can almost never adjust the size of my text boxes from the middle bottom anchorpoint, butcause the "O" icon for "Explore More Text Options" is on top of it or near enough to it that I can't select the anchorpoint. I need to be able to resize text boxes from the bottom middle anchorpoint. Adjusting the size with the bottom right anchorpoint isn't a usually a good option because the width will change slightly.
Fix this issue by moving the O icon away from any anchorpoints outside of the box somewhere.

Footnote references in header rows of tables should not be repeated
It is desirable that text in table headers is repeated in the second and subsequent text frames.
But it is not good that footnote references are also repeated in headers. This is because the footnote for the corresponding references is to be found on the page where the reference is first mentioned, but not on the following pages of the table, which breaks across pages.6 votes -
Put the Overset text warning directly at the beginning of the export file process
When I want to export a PDF, InDesign kindly reminds me of overset text or missing links. However, I do not understand why this warning appears at the very end, after I have gone through the file location selection and PDF export settings. Obviously, I want to correct this error in 95% of cases. Instead, I have to cancel the export, then go through the entire process again. The file location, file name, and any PDF export settings I might have changed are lost, and I have to start all over again.

Share for Review - Option for reviewers to toggle single page and spread view.
It would be great if the review online interface had the option to view the project as spreads or as single pages.
My coworkers who review prefer to make notes/revisions as single pages, but the publications I create are designed as spreads. It's a pain to go through and share as single pages and then move them back to spreads as I work. It would save me from exporting extra PDF samples to show full layouts when there is so much back and forth.

Favourite font groups
I'd like to be able to save some of my commonly used fonts into groups or themes of my choosing, such as calligraphic, infographic, corporate, Christmas etc.
I realise InDesign (and other Adobe apps) already offer favourites and filters but the favourites list can get rather long and the filters don't always capture the fonts I'm actually trying to find, especially with non Adobe fonts. For example, I have a font called 'Beauty Night Script' installed and it doesn't show up in either the script, handwritten or decorative font filters.
I think this feature could be quite useful for people trying to keep track of a lot of favourites, or who create themed artwork once it a while.

Easy drag and drop to base one text style on another
I would love for an easy drag and drop to base one text style on another in the paragraph and character style palettes. The idea is to drag a paragraph style (para) that you want to base on and drop onto another style (parafirst or paralast). I work on book designs with lots and lots of style tags. It will save designers so much time to do it all in the palettes instead of opening up each style and scroll through the style list every time.
In addition, similar to how we apply parent/master pages to pages, it’d be amazing if we could do the same in the text style menus. Highlight a bunch of paragraph styles and click on a drop down menu with the option to apply a base style to them.

Change text & add button on message window when trying to close a file while background task is running
When you try to close a file while a background task is running you get a warning (Screenshot A). The word "cancel" appears there 4 times, so a fast reader would think clicking on "Cancel" will cancel something. But that's wrong. If you click on "Cancel", the window is closing. Nothing else.
So please change the button to "Close" (and in the German version to "Schließen" instead of "Abbrechen") to make clear nothing is cancelled.
In addition to that it would be nice to have a second button that helps the user to get directly to the background task panel. (Screeshot B)

Allow Pages to be named and exported with names - like photoshop artboards
Where the pages are numbered in the pages panel, please could you allow them to be named and exported with those names - in the same way the Photoshop allows with artboards?
This would save so much time for working on projects that have 100s of pages that all need specific names. I would need this in InDesign as the ability to relink images is a super useful feature for my projects.
Thanks!

Text wrap around anchored objects needs to work according to settings, regardless of where the anchor is placed.
Text wrap refuses to wrap properly around my anchored objects regardless of anchor placement in the paragraph or text wrap offset settings.
This causes the anchored object to overlap the text and/or have inconsistent margin offset around the object. It's erratic and inconsistent among the various objects, even though they all have the exact same object style applied.
Some of the objects wrap a little better than others - at least they're not overlapping on top of text - but the wrap margins are still inconsistent. Not a single object wraps how I believe it should based on the style attributes I set.
InDesign SHOULD be able to do this!
PLEASE NOTE: I created an object style that includes text wrap and object anchoring attributes. The attached screenshots show the text wrap problem and the style settings for the anchored objects. (I set the transparency of the objects so that you can see the text behind them.)
Please, please resolve!

If short form for the unit Points is "pkt" in could "pt" be accepted as alias instead of giving error message?
In Swedish version of InDesign (and other Adobe Apps) to enter a unit in points we must type "pkt" where I believe most languages accept "pt". It would be a better experience for the user if the software would accept either "pt" or "pkt", especially if teaching a class where there are users with different language versions following the same instructions. There is no point in receiving an error that an invalid unit has been entered if the intent is clear, and unambiguous.
Please change so that either pt or pkt can be entered as unit, that the unit is displayed as pkt is not a problem (I can enter units in Pica,mm, cm and more why can teh software not simply make a conversion that 12pt = 12pkt).
I am not sure if there is similar problem with units in other languages.

Copy & paste formatted text between apps
It is beyond baffling that Adobe is so incompetent they have not been able to implement a way to copy and paste formatted text between their own applications. There can only be two reasons we can’t copy and paste formatted text between (for example) Illustrator and InDesign: Either Adobe is unwilling to add this feature or Adobe is incapable of adding this feature.
Even a way to save formatted text between programs then place it would be an improvement over the nothing we have now.

Allow each section or master page spread to have a custom baseline grid
I work on many books that have different sections, with different content. While I try to make sure everything fits and follows the same baseline grid, often that's just not the best solution. I end up using custom baseline grid options on text frames, but that also doesn't solve everything.
It would be very useful to set a baseline grid that applies to a specific master page, or to a whole section.6 votes -
Please make it possible that whenever you create a QR code it automatically makes it into a hyperlink as well.
This could be done by maybe ticking off a box when creating a QR code to optionally create a hyperlink. I know QR codes are prodominently made to scan with a phone but if you wish to publish the same publication online it would be nice if you could also click on the qr code, making it easier for the reader. It would make it easier because now I have to make a QR code while also applying the same hyperlink on it thus taking me more time and increasing the possibility of an error.
