  1. Have the ability to format text boxes with date, time, currency, etc. Also ability to format buttons (save)

Because I use a template to make multiple copies of a personalized document/form. I constantly have to go into the PDF after each export to format fillable text boxes with the date format, currency format, etc. The same goes for the buttons. I have multiple save buttons as well as send form buttons that I have to "reprogram" each time I change the source InDesign file. It seems to be something that should be handled in the InDesign file. If you can choose Print why not Save?

  2. Place Images Behind Text Without Outlines

    Description:
In Adobe InDesign, there is currently no option to place images behind text without converting the text to outlines or paths. In Photoshop, this is easily achieved using layer masks and clipping masks. It would be highly beneficial to have a similar feature in InDesign, allowing users to place images directly behind text that can still be edited (font, size, and content) without converting it to outlines.

    Benefits for Users:

Increased flexibility and efficiency when working with text and images
Ability to maintain the editability of the text (users can continue to adjust font, size, and wording)…

  3. Stop exporting <Sect> tags

Please make InDesign stop exporting <Sect> tags for every text frame. We don't need these tags, and they interfere with accessibility.

We need more control over how our content exports to the tag tree. We only need to see our content under the articles <Art> tag.

We have to remove every single <Sect> tag to make our PDFs truly accessible.

  4. Hi, I need to include an iCal (or similar) file into an interactive inDesign newsletter

    Hi,
I need to include an iCal (or similar) file into an interactive inDesign newsletter / interactive PDF / published interactive web link.
I have gone to extreme lengths to try to find where / how to do this.

I send out a monthly newsletter (InDesign-interactive PDF-interactive web link) to update the audience on the coming monthly event. I need to add an iCal (or similar) file to enable them to enter it/download it into their own calendar.

I have tried setting up a specific Google calendar, putting the event details in the calendar, then go to ‘publish event’…

  5. Searchable text

I would also like a feature i.e. text of indd files should be searchable without opening the indd file, and using its find and replace dialog box. i have hundereds of indd txt files. and everytime i need to search some thing in my indd files, so i have to open all the files and use the dialog box,
is there any option to do this without opening the indd file. like the search panel in finder, it finds in pdf, word, excel docs,

  6. Display a button's multiple actions/events

If we are able to add multiple events to buttons, the only way we can see those actions is to pro-actively switch to that event (via the Event drop down in the InDesign Buttons and Forms panel) or by exporting an interactive PDF and viewing the actions in the button's properties dialogue box in Acrobat.

Ideally, if an object is turned into an interactive button, the panel should change to reflect that. Within the new space, if a button is applied an action via the event drop down, line items should appear similar to the way actions aggregate. Another method…

  7. Accessibility-Tag Tree-Data Merge

ID 14.0.1, Mac Pro, Sierra 10.12.6
Tags are not in proper order in exported PDF
Using Data Merge to create many pages of text and table from large Excel file Col A-FF. Each row produces one page. The first section of the page tags are at the top of the tag tree, followed by the first section of each successive page. Then the Next tags (from the tables) are listed, again by successive pages.
To remediate, all (table) tags have to be moved to the proper page.

  8. Export document with specific pages in multiple color spaces

I do medical journals, and I frequently have clients who request their document in 2 versions: a full color version for online, and a version where some, but not all of the pages are in grayscale for the printer, to save on printing cost.

It is yes possible to export an entire document converted to a grayscale color space, with some admittedly janky workarounds which it would also be nice to see streamlined.

But at the moment, what I do for my needs is I have to export a full color version, a separate grayscale version, and then manually…

  9. bring back PageMaker file (.PMD) support or a conversion option in new InDesign versions

    Hello Adobe Team,

I would like to request that Adobe InDesign once again include support (or at least a conversion feature) for opening PageMaker (.PMD) files.

Many designers and publishers still have important archives created in PageMaker, and it has become very difficult to access or update those files since modern InDesign (CC versions) no longer supports them.

Even a simple "Convert PMD to INDD/IDML" option or a legacy import plug-in would be extremely useful. It would save time, preserve historical work, and help users migrate old projects without depending on outdated software like InDesign CS6.

    I Know this…

  10. Scroll through placed multi-page PDFs or InDesign documents within InDesign

Essentially, make the Show Import Options Preview panel directly accessible inside InDesign.

This would save me a considerable amount of time.

  11. Request for Enhanced Document Merging and Pagination Features in InDesign

We require a streamlined method to merge multiple InDesign documents into a single file. Additionally, whether working on books, magazines, or brochures, we need a tool that can adjust pagination according to the sequence and allow the insertion of PDF files between pages.

Furthermore, the current Book feature is completely inadequate. It often disrupts styles and damages documents, making it unreliable for professional workflows. We need a more intuitive solution that provides a clear, sequential view of all pages individually, just as they appear in order. This would allow for seamless page management and better control over complex projects.

  14. Support for CMYKOGV (eg. FOGRA 55)

Certification was completed back in 2021 after conclusion of a FOGRA research project. The color exchange profile (ICC) can be downloaded from the FOGRA website.

In essence expanded (or extended, varies by publication) color gamut offset printing is the idea of increasing the color space of CMYK using 3 additional colors (orange, green, violet).

CMYKOGV as characterized by FOGRA 55 is proofable using Epson SureColor printers (P7570, P9570).

I have seen several printers already offering 7c offset print. These days it's basically to cut down on cost (to achieve almost complete Pantone coverage without having to resort to actually spot…

  15. Allow use of Image Blocks in online publishings & Interactive PDFs

I really want to create a more immersive viewing experience of my 3D designs by using holographic image blocks as an embed in interactive PDF's and/or Online publishing (If you are not aware of this excellent technology you need to check out LookingGlass; https://blocks.glass/). Can we please make this a supported feature?

At first glance, you might be fooled into believing that it already is as Indesign allows you to insert image blocks as an HTML which works perfectly in the EPUB Interactive preview. The only problem? When you publish the document the image blocks turn into a…

  16. bookmark zoom level

It would be a lifesaver to be able to set the bookmark zoom level in InDesign (whatever it defaults to now, "Fit Page", I think, isn't great for everyone), so that when it exports to PDF you can already have it set to "Inherit Zoom" (or whatever you need) rather than having to manually figure out a way to do it in Acrobat. When you edit the bookmark zoom level in Acrobat, there's not even a way to do it from the InDesign action that's there--you have to basically create a whole new bookmark, redirect it and then set the…

  17. Would like to add a separate gradient applied just to text, not related to textframe, just to the word (or any textcharacter)

I would like to apply a gradient to characters and words only, not related to the textframe in which they are printed.

If I have one or a few words in a gradient designed, and due to a textedit the word flows to the other (or a previous) line, the gradient appears different than how I designed it.

At this time it is either only related to the textframe, or I'd have to convert the text to outlines.

Or, as a workaround I can take the word out, place it in a separate textframe, apply the gradient, and place it…

  18. idml with preview pictures required

I am not sure, couldn't find a solution - so i think its not possible yet.
Please add function to embedd preview pictures to the idml-file.

Our need: For distribution to an translation office, we send the idml-file PLUS an PDF to show what the the idml is showing.
I know - with every more picture info the size is increasing, but with an option to choose "show preview picture in idml" it would be phenomenal.
All info text+pic in one file would help the recipient to the see the same as you.

Pictures are mandatory for translation office, as…

  19. Enhanced Rendering Intent Options

Currently, InDesign allows us to set rendering intents for pixel-based images. However, it would be extremely beneficial if this functionality could be extended to vector objects and objects that have a LAB color space.

Here are the specific enhancements I’m proposing:

Vector Objects: Provide options to set rendering intents for individual vector objects. This would give users more flexibility in managing the color output of vector graphics within their designs.

LAB Color Space: Allow users to define rendering intents for objects that have a LAB color space. Given the wide gamut of the LAB color space, this would help ensure…

  20. Change the font size of the page information when printing out a page. This is too small at 6 pt.

We do thousands of imprints that have all the job number, customer PO and imprint info on the file name. We are converting from qk to indesign. Quark 's title page information uses much larger font and is at the top of the page when printed out which is much more convenient.

We want to be able to identify the document quickly!
