Allow for selecting a set of Links for relinking, not just parent link or individual link
Looking to perform "Select Multiple Link Replacement”
Right now I can Re Link Parent Link (of ALL Instances) and change 1000 instances of an image.
Right Now I can Relink ONE individual “Child” instance or ONE image at a time.
But I cannot SELECT and RELINK Multiple Selected Links (example: 10 out of the 1000) SELECT instances of an image.
The only way to presently do this is to highlight the 10 instances and then Relink them one by one where a dialogue box opens and requires me to repeat the link process and click OK all 10 times.…

Italics shown in text variables
When you use text variables for running heads, if the chapter title has one of its words in italics, for example, the text variable does not recognise the italics. You can therefore not use a text variable in this instance without lots of cheating to get round it.

Share Illustrator Gradients with Indesign via CC Libraries
According to many sources online, in the old days, you were able to copy and paste gradients from Illustrator to InDesign. Now, when I copy an simple object with a complex gradient, it comes into InDesign split into many tiny objects, each with its own swatch. Totally unworkable.
Really, I should be able to save a gradient swatch to CC Library so that I can access it across Creative Cloud. Because that's what Library is for, right?
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature that should be there.
5 votesYou can add the object having the gradient swatch to the CC Libraries as a ‘Graphic’ in Illustrator. Then you can choose Place Linked/Place Copy in CC Libraries to use that object in InDesign. At this time, it is yet not possible to add Gradient/Pattern swatches to CC Libraries in Illustrator, so you have to add the object to the CCLib and then place that object in other apps like InDesign.

Add the ability to disable pages
It would be great to be able to disable pages, similar to how you can disable elements in Premiere. A disabled page would keep it's content and place in the document, but would loose its page number and not be able to be edited until it's re-enabled.
This would make it easier to manage pages that need to be removed from an export, but may still want to be re-added later on. It could also help in keeping clear what pages didn't require any more work, or have all their content confirmed.
Thanks!

Navigator panel like in Illustrator
Hi,
don't know if anybody else already mentioned this but indesign could really use a navigator panel like illustrator has one, the zoom in and out buttons are really handy and much quicker to use than Zoom in and zoom out functions under the view menu (I'm not much of a shortcut using guy…) and also dragging the red square to navigate is super handy
Thank you in advance!5 votes -
Saving files - please have just filename selected, not extension
This used to be how it was, I can't tell you how much time I waste selecting an insertion point to rename the file.

Comments to Zoom Where Pin Is
If you are selecting a comment, the pin will have a small way of highlighting (whether it be a small square, yellow highlighter, red strikethrough or blue strikethrough) and will fit page to screen. This can be difficult to see when there are a lot of comments on one page. It would be helpful for it to center and zoom into the comment by 50% when selecting it.
Another recommendation: When I tag a reviewer, they get the email about my tag. However, when they go to find this tag, they have to scroll through every comment to find it.…

Share for Review with Slug Area
I use slugs with my layouts and clients reference the information there, as well as vetting production elements like crops and color swatches. I would like the option to Share for Review with crop and slug area included.

Manually adjust width of columns in text frame
When there are multiple columns in a text frame, the width of each column is automatically divided evenly between the number of columns and the width of the frame. It would be nice to be able to manually change the width of those columns so they are not automatically all the exact same width, or height for that matter. I'm thinking much like how columns in a table can be adjusted, and then when the whole table is changed you can elect to have the manually adjusted columns shift accordingly or not. It would be nice to get the same…

'Text-color' as a swatch option in Paragraph Shading and Paragraph Borders
Would allow you to apply a swatch change (manually or via a character style) to the text and have it propagate to the border/shade.
As an example - it would be good if you've got a black boxed number, that takes the border from the paragraph border and you want to overlay it on a dark image, and so switch the text colour to white.

Show Cross-References
Under Type menu, have option to show cross-references, or have a way to show that something is a cross reference when showing "hidden" characters.
Currently after creating a cross-reference, it is very easy to lose it by typing over the text because nothing differentiates the cross-referenced text from regular text in paragraph.
Would also be cool if there were some sort of control feature as in "indexing" so that you could see all the cross-references that have been created. Very helpful in long documents.
Thank you!

Out of gamut warning/highlighting
It would be nice if, like other Adobe software, InDesign offered an out-of-gamut warning/highlighting option on screen when viewing documents with Proof Colors. It could even be an option in the proof colors setup dialog.
In practice, corrections to out-of-gamut colors of placed (typically RGB) images does not take place in InDesign. I realize that. But since InDesign may be the point of conversion to CMYK for print-ready PDFs, it could be useful to have a sense of where there might be problem areas in placed images, graphics, etc.
In some sense, InDesign is last line of defense, and offering…

Select (Menu)
Selection Methods:
Select Menu like Illustrator and Selection Commands are required for Objects, Text, and Images (Raster)
Select All Object, Text, and Images in the Document, Spread, or on the Page
to move them on other Layers easily.Other options (like Illustrator's Select Menu) should be added in this Menu.

New Cross Reference > Showing Page number near the Paragraph Text proposal
Hi Guys !
Something that could be great in indesign is having the possibility of showing the page number corresponding to the Paragraph Text proposal, when we creat a new Cross reference.
For exemple, here I work with a big catalog of 500 pages, and 500 titles.
I need to creat a cross reference between intermediate TOC and the title,
But when I have MAny times the same title, it becames to be hard to test eache title to get the good page number
for exemple my search right now is :
TITLE OF PRODUCT
TITLE OF PRODUCT (1)
TITLE…5 votes -

The ability to mention (@) guest users
Not everyone who will review my projects have an Adobe account, but I still need to be able to mention them in order to draw there attention to certain comments or areas on the page.
