  2. Batch Rename Multiple Layers at once. Find/Change Names of Layers.

Would be nice to rename multiple Layers at once in Indesign like renaming Files in a Finder-Folder. Or with a additional function for Find/Change.

Usecase in the picture below. Have to rename several Layers for exporting with scripts. Always double-click is annoying. Would improve my Workflow a lot.

  3. Add ability to make resusable/editable linked COMPONENTS (like in XD)

InDesign has been dancing around the edges of this idea for years, with half-baked features like snippets, libraries, linked items in the content grabber....but it never has gotten it right. What we need is something exactly like the "components" feature in Adobe XD. We grab some objects, and then "Make Component" out of them. Then we can plop multiple instances of that component throughout the document. If we go back and edit the "Main Component" those changes are automatically applied to all placed instances of it.

Yes, I know you can place one indesign doc into another, which is the…

  4. Clearer comment navigation in share for review

click on a comment and have the comments panel scroll to the comment clicked, make the active comment highlight more visible and don't unmap comments when the text is deleted but delete the comments with the text.

  5. Comments in Logical Order Please

The comments in Share for Review currently start on the right hand page of a spread work down and then skip to the top of the left-hand spread. This is confusing.

  6. Store Export settings along with PDF and update PDF with the same settings

I find it hard to impossible to tell the export settings of a PDF file just from the file. Am I missing where to look? I would like to have

    • Write settings as human readable text into the metadata of PDF Files, when they are exported
    • Export settings as Export preset, stored along with PDF (as metadata within the file)
    • Import the Export Presets by pointing at an existing PDF File (with this metadata available)
    • Update any PDF File (given the export settings-metadata are available) with the same settings by pointing to the the File that is to be updated

  7. Update only some pages of an earlier exported PDF

When Exporting a big document, sometimes after a change it would be nice to update only the changed page in the exported file.
    - it would save time as the export would complete faster
    - no need to have all the linked files of the whole document locally just to update one page
    - it would save me exporting one one some pages and then opening the old PDF file in Acrobat and replacing the updated page manually.

  8. Create a shortcut after a program update

When InDesign (or any other Adobe app is updated), I have to find the old shortcuts, delete them, hunt for the new program version and manually create a new shortcut and pin it to the taskbar. Is there a way to automate this or make it easier? Can it be done in CC?

  9. Window size-changing

I find that Photoshop, Acrobat, Bridge and Dreamweaver all follow Apple’s standard of double-clicking at the top of a window to make it expand to full screen or return to the previous size. InDesign (v.19.0.1) apparently does not (I use only these five Adobe Cloud apps). InDesign windows will double-click expand to full screen but won’t returning to their previous size. The alternative, dragging the right-hand edge, is very tedious.

  12. Zoom when clicking on errors in the Preflight window

One thing has been bothering me for a long time in Indesign. I am working on a document and activate my print control in the Preflight window, if I then find errors, e.g. under "Text", I simply click on the underlined number of the page on the right and am then taken to where the error is. Unfortunately, it is always set to my 1:1 zoom, so if I want to investigate the error more closely, I have to zoom in manually or with my zoom-shortcut. If I click on the page again at the next error, I end up…

  13. Can we please remove all the question marks from InDesign placeholder text?

All of the question marks in placeholder text are an unrealistic representation of typical body copy. I end up having to remove them all when developing layout comps. Not a big deal, but annoying.

  14. Control When to Update Graphic Links

This is sort of already here, but my suggestion is more specific: Currently, graphic links are updated when a document opens. When a link is changed, it automatically updates with a document – but only the first time. After that, we need to click update in the links panel, which is a little onerous when I'm updating links often. It would save a lot of clicks if we could specify in the preferences to ALWAYS update links without asking (or not). So, it would be great to have two settings:
    • update links automatically, always, without asking
    • update links…

  15. Add Eyedropper function to swatch options

Add eyedropper functionality to Swatch Options so that I can quickly sample a colour from anywhere on my screen to change an existing colour (similar to photoshop colour picker).

I am in the process of updating a calendar which has numerous elements coloured by month name on each page - the client has given me an image of 12 swatches to change each month colour and an eyedropper would make this much easier...

  16. native comments

Give us us native comments within inDesign, or at least allow the person who shared a document for review to add comments in/from the file itself. I currently have to share for review just to add comments to my own file, which adds another stage to our process.

  17. Move the Share for review search box

The share for review search box is in almost the same place as the type a comment here box, which is really confusing. It's too easy to write a comment rather than search for the text. Also the search box is slap bang on top of the highlight button etc.... so I search for a piece of text that I wanted a comment on and then have to close the search box before I can highlight it, making a long process even longer.

  18. Share for review Keyboard shortcuts

Give us keyboard shortcuts for highlight this text plus this colour. At the moment it takes a looong time just to get to typing in the comment. This would streamline the process, making it much more efficient.

  19. carry colours from Share for Review comments over to those same comments when they're shown in the indesign file

carry colours from Share for Review comments over to those same comments when they're shown in the indesign file. At the moment all highlights default to yellow.

  20. Add hyperlink to each table cell in document that contains text using a specific paragraph style

Hello, I would like, in Indesign, to have a script to apply a hyperlink to each table cell that contains text using a specific paragraph style.
