Useful feature request: Edit with... Photoshop/Illustrator with an Indesign Spread/Page overlay
I would like to see an option to Edit with Photoshop or Illustrator with an Overlay, optionally at an opacity, of rest of the Indesign page/spread elements. This would aid in area retouching/color adjustments where you need to know exactly where the items are on the page in relation to the image/vector.
Often I have to darken areas in an image behind type in Indesign and using a brush is often guess work. I have tried drop shadows and glows in the past with mixed results but usually to get specific letters to show over an image I have to…

PDF Password Print (BUG and New Feature)
As suggested by @Abhishek Rao on Adobe community
I report here the problem and the new functionality...PDF Password (BUG and New Feature)
When I export a document to PDF from Indesign (or illustrator), I would need to password protect the Copy/Modification of the elements in my PDF, at the same time allow READING and PRINTING of that PDF document.
All this is currently ALLOWED BY "INDESIGN"! in PDF export.
When I create a PDF with these limitations, I open it in ACROBAT and I can SEE and PRINT IT.
When I try to MODIFY IT, Acrobat asks me for…1 vote -
Add Options to remove bleeds and cropmarks while Import PDF comments
Sometimes I get PDF files with corrections to be applied to the next printing addition.
Usually publishers apply such corrections to the production PDF, with format cropmarks .
InDesign can import the PDF without bleeds and crop marks (as you turn on the import options), But.... unfortunately PDF Comments, there is no such option that you can opt out of crop marks and bleeds, etc.1 vote -

Add option to open current working folder when using "relink" option
Hello,
can we please have an option to open/search in current working folder (where the .indd is saved) when using relink function, rather than opening previously used links folder.
make it a toggle option for users that prefer its current state

Examine an Existing PDF and Use Its Exporting Settings
Add the ability for Indesign (and other PDF-creating CSS apps) to read the settings used to create an existing PDF.
I understand that this would require new PDF format feature: the ability to store the PDF creation settings in a PDF file directly. (I've added that suggestion as "Include PDF Export Settings in PDF Files" under the Acrobat feature request section.)
The goal is for a user to be able to easily export a new PDF with the same export settings as those of an existing PDF—something which is currently frustratingly difficult to do.

Can InDesign assign attributes automatically in the XML while exporting it for translation purposes to identify new and translated content.
InDesign shoudl assign unique attributes automatically in the XML while exporting it for translation purposes to diffentiate the new and already translated content in the file.
When there is an update to an already translated file, and when we need to extract and resend the XML file which contains both the new content and the already translated content, the XML should contain unique attributes for the body content or must atleast have an option to tag the translated content with one specific attribute and the new content with a different one so that the translation team can identify the differences…

Dark Theme: more contrast for sliders
For the darkest InDesign theme (which I love and use all the time) increase the contrast between the slider and the slider tray. I always have a hard time finding the slider. This is not so much a problem on the monitor in my office, but traveling with a laptop in different lighting conditions it's sometimes impossible to find the slider.

Update text box design so that the middle bottom anchor point isn't almost always hidden by "Explore more text options" / "O" icon
The text box needs an update. I can almost never adjust the size of my text boxes from the middle bottom anchorpoint, butcause the "O" icon for "Explore More Text Options" is on top of it or near enough to it that I can't select the anchorpoint. I need to be able to resize text boxes from the bottom middle anchorpoint. Adjusting the size with the bottom right anchorpoint isn't a usually a good option because the width will change slightly.
Fix this issue by moving the O icon away from any anchorpoints outside of the box somewhere.

Allow Text to Image to create non-standard image sizes, regardless of aspect ratio (i.e. make “frame dimensions” actually work for any size)
Being able to use Text to Image to actually create a graphic that honors the “frame size” option would be a game changer. Often when laying out copy I have incidental space left over that would be perfect for a graphic, but does not conform to standard aspect ratios. Especially for long, thin areas such as header or footer images, cropping produces an “unreadable” image, and no amount of fiddling will change that.

Paste where you click
When you copy an element and paste it with the shortcut Cmd+V, the paste is randomized.
Would it be possible for this Cmd+V function to take into account the location of the last click on the work plan with the selection tool?
For example, I want to place an existing circle that I want to copy to several locations. I could click exactly where I want to place it, do a Cmd+V, and it would be placed exactly where I clicked.
This saves having to place it every time, especially if I have 20, 30 or even more circles to…1 vote -
Image to Text - Save images
Currently there is no direct way to download and save an image created by using the AI "Image to Text" tool. The document has to be packaged and then the images used will be saved in that package. However, it would be great if there was a "download or save" option in the drop-down menu of each image you've chosen to use - this way you can name it and save it directly to a suitable folder for later use.

Article panel should help in showing items as ‘marked’
Like there is an option for xml structure to show colors of marked frames there should be a similar option for frames and stories that are already present in the article panel.
If MadeToTag can do it, Adobe should be able too.1 vote -
Specify Column Widths (and More) in Table Style
It would be very helpful to be able to specify column widths in the table style, i.e., in situations where there are multiple tables with the same headers.
I have a document with c.60 tables with the same headers and column widths. I have to individually set the width of all eight, in my case, columns in each table. It would be so much easier if I could set up a table style with each column width specified, i.e., column 1: 14mm, column 2: 33mm, column 3… you get the idea.
That's roughly 480 times I have to enter a…

Syncing Redlines from Adobe Asset Cloud to InDesign
Syncing Redlines from Adobe Asset Cloud to InDesign - Noticing that the asset cloud link has the ability to redline and comment, but the redlines do not come over on the InDesign side with the asset link as they do when you import Adobe comments/redlines. This feature would be hugeeee for our industry to have. Also, using the asset link feature live has crashed indesign a couple times.

Variables with long definitions to wrap to next line
Currently, variables do not break across lines. I have documents with tables and variables. If the variable has a long definition, I have to shrink the font to get the text to fit in the cell when it could easily wrap to the next line. FrameMaker's variables have this capability. InDesign should be able to do the same. PLEASE!

Extract the Pixel's or Edge's X & Y coordinates of the Shapes or lines used in Indesign pages to a Geometry XML file/CSV /Excel/Text file.
We are trying to figure out a method to extract the X & Y coordinates in a excel or CSV file or any kind of report file, from a given page partitioned with straight horizontal and vertical lines to forming square and rectangular blocks/shapes from it. Now, we want to extract the dimensions of the shapes (squares and rectangles). If there is any way we could extract the pixels (X & Y coordinates of the edges) shown in screenshot considering the edges of the page main boundary (line in pink) as well as inner blocks/boxes formed from the lines (blue…

Test internal page hyperlinks in presentation mode
I don't know if this can even be possible, but it would be great to be able to test internal page hyperlinks in presentation mode (command + W), so that I don't have to export the PDF every time to test, rectify and test again. It will be especially useful for interactive PDFs with 100+ pages.
Thank you!

Unified Windows 11 User Interface
I think it is of paramount importance that InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop should better integrate with Windows 11's Dark/Light mode. Why is still that the menus and menu options are still white even with the application set to the darkest mode? It is a horrible design inconsistency.
