Allow placement of PDFs/images by actual page size, not their bounding box.
Enable an option to place or drag-and-drop PDF and image files based on their actual page dimensions (MediaBox or defined size), rather than defaulting to bounding box-based fitting—the following alignment of such is unnecessary hustle. Ideally with user-selectable placement mode (bounding box vs. full page).

Interactivity, LIVE while using InDesign - Object States and Buttons that work at ANY time - ala AE 'Essential Graphics'.
There is the potential for InDesign to be a powerful QC authoring tool in our industry. We apply technical charts over the images which designers have created, like pitch/checker-decks. We need many different aspect ratios but repetition of the overlays and much of the info. We previously had over 90 layers the user would need to make visible or invisible - this is tedious and antithesis of good UX.

Add "Align to guides" option in Align panel
It would be useful to add to the options already present in the Align panel (selection, page, margin, key object) also "align to guides": the selected object would be aligned to the first nearest guide, vertically or horizontally, depending on the button pressed (top, right, left, bottom).

Password requirements / limitation for publish online function
We are facing an issue, that we have to use a specific password, which the customer define and we have to use for protecting the documents. It's not allowed, to use a different password.
This password is longer than 20 characters, but you have rules for the password and one of it is defined, that the password has not to be longer than 20 characters.
That means for us, we cannot share any Adobe files with these customer, which means, that we have to use competitor tools, which allows a password with more than 20 characters...

QR code without borders
Generating QR Codes in Indesign is great, but one thing is designwise a hassle: the invisible border of the QR code. It changes also in size when the code is more detailed as before, or less.
for a designer this normed border is only slightly important – it's more important where the visible part, the code itself starts and ends.. so we can align it visually to our design. Please add this function.5 votes -

Find/Replace Dialog box functionality was changed in 20.3 tabbing from Find now goes to the Special Character button
in InDesign 20.3 there was a change to the find/replace dialog box. When I tab out of the "Find what:" field it goes into "Specials characters for search" button instead of the way it used to work where it would tab into "Change to:" field.

Ability to change the DEFAULT setting for Object Layer Options to 'Use PDF's Layer Visibility'
Offer a way (ideally in preferences) to change the default setting in Object Layer Options for "When Updating Link" to be set to either 'Keep Layer Visibility Overrides' OR 'Use PDF's Layer Visibility'.
At present it always defaults to 'Keep Layer Visibility Overrides,' and adjustments have to be made manually.

Right-Click to Duplicate Page Directly on the Canvas
Currently, duplicating a page in InDesign requires navigating to the Pages panel, locating the desired page, right-clicking, and selecting "Duplicate spread." This process, while functional, adds unnecessary steps—especially in documents with many pages.
Proposed Enhancement:
Enable users to right-click directly on a page in the workspace to access the "Duplicate Page" option.Why this matters:

Make it possible to anchor a graphic to the beginning of a paragraph without five or six tries and two or three zooms
It'll go AFTER the first letter…it'll go some random place in the first FEW letters, but before the first one? Especially if the first one is a sans-serif letter "I"? HAHAHAHAHAH! No. Not without cajoling, retrying, zooming, threatening, and telling it what a good little cursor it is.
I realize this isn't a **** problem, but it's been literally decades of this feature being…what's the technical term…bad.

I’d like to request a feature that would greatly improve workflow efficiency: the ability to select non-contiguous paragraphs and apply a paragraph style to all of them at once.
This was a standout feature of the early Ventura Publisher, which used a structure-first approach—encouraging consistent use of styles over manual formatting. With Ventura, you could quickly tag multiple scattered paragraphs (like subheads or captions) and assign a style with a single keystroke. InDesign currently requires each paragraph to be styled individually unless using GREP or Find/Change.

Make Paste Remembers Layers the Default
Make 'Paste Remembers Layers' the default. By default this is an option that must be selected, but this should be the default behavior. You will note the number of suggestions on this very forum for this feature that already exists. There is never going to be an occasion under which I do not want to paste to the original layer, and I often want to copy and paste multiple objects on different layers. Option for Share for Review (in browser) to view both resolved and unresolved comments at the same time
It would be really helpful for users commenting on a Share for Review document in browser to be able to see the resolved and unresolved comments at the same time, as opposed to either one or the other.
There is repeated confusion from people adding comments which had already been added and resolved. This could be easily fixed by adding an extra 'unresolved' tag within the filter list.

Hide Application Home Bar
PLEASE need an option to HIDE the application bar with the Home icon and app version... Such a waste of much needed workspace, and there is absolutely nothing in that bar that enhances my workflow.

Request: Add an option to toggle on/off "adjust page numbering when hiding spreads."
The updated Hide Spreads feature that adjusts page numbering when spreads are hidden is only useful in documents where you may have alternate versions of pages, but not when you are just trying to export unique sample pages from a long document. We have multiple users that had used Hide Spreads in CC2024 to easily exclude pages from a PDF export instead of having to type in page ranges to export. Typographer’s quotes need to be the default
I have been using InDesign since 2006. The so-called “typographer’s quotation marks” that are an option that needs to be activated in the settings menu are quotation marks. Set as default is a glyph denoting an inch. This cannot be used instead of quotation marks and why that even is an option in pro software is incomprehensible.
