Speed up baseline setup
Setting up a baseline grid can be easier, I think.
A workflow speed-up like this would be great:
1) select the basic text
2) click on a button that does all these things at once:
- Show baseline grid
- base the baseline grid on the line height of the selected text without going to the preferences panel (line height, etc.)
- align the text to the baseline gridI think this feature is great for newer, and existing Indesign users and can be a great addition to the feature request in this thread:

Find / Replace
I am a QuarkXPress convert to InDesign and I am loving the app for all of its '******' abilities when constructing layouts.
However - making global changes and adaptation to text and graphics using the Find/Replace function is way too confusing. This is something that was so easy to use in QuarkXPress and highly intuitive. Personally I would love that sort of functionality ease to brought in to ID.1 vote -
Advanced Paragraph Shading Options
- The ability to specify a specific measured width for paragraph shading in pica, inches or whatever is the standard unit for the document.
- The ability to extend shading through continuous paragraphs. (i.e. If two consecutive paragraphs have the same paragraph style (with shading) that there is no gap between the paragraphs. Currently you have to use offset to extend these.

Publish Online: Comment Mode NEEDED! :)
I think in order to compete with the other tools out there, CC needs to add Comment Mode into their Publish Online feature. That way we can share documents with clients and partners and have them provide feedback right there. Please think about doing this, and soon :)

Split and even out footnotes in a two column layout
We work on academic books, and academics love footnotes. When working with a two-column layout, the footnotes of each column appear at the bottom of that column. So far so good. But when there are a lot of footnotes things get messy, one column can be 50% filled with footnotes and the column next to it can have only 1-2 lines of footnotes (or even none). This doesn't look particularly nice.
We are wondering if there is a way to even them out?
I know it is possible to set the footnotes in one-column, but that doesn't look good. Would…

gpu on non-retina mac machines
I am staggered that Adobe InDesign does not support GPU performance on standard display i-Macs - there must be tens of thousands of frustrated InDesign users now struggling with performance issues. This is a huge oversight, particularly when Photoshop and Illustrator both support GPU performance on older iMacs - sad to say very poor of Adobe.

Find/change table stroke
When using Find/Change and selecting the tab to search for object attributes it's possible to search for a specific stroke width, color etc. But it does not look for that in tables. So if you don't use table or cell formating you have to select and find those attributes by hand. Couldn't there be a tab for searching attributes in tables as well?

Wavy line needs customize option!
We need “Wavy line” customize option, such as:
(1) weight (2) wave height (3) wavelength (4) single/double line selection
(see fig1.png and fig2.png)Current wavy line design is not good for professional.
When we change weight, the wavy size is automatically changed. We can’t control the size of wave.
When we need to control the size and shape of wavy line, we have to create appropriate one by Illustrator, then link them. This takes lots of times of us.
"Wavy line" customize option will definitely help us a lot.
Japanese clients often designate to use wavy lines to underline.

Make it one-click to disable USA English across all documents, existing and yet to be created.
Every new document I create defaults to USA English which is time-consuming to change for everyone who does not use this variation of UK English. Please make it a button on the 'New document' window to select default language, and please make it a tick-box in preferences. It could be worded like this for example 'What is your preferred default language?" and then a drop down. Then every document I open will automatically have the correct dictionary applied without any further time spent. Many thanks.
1 voteYou could accomplish this objective by doing this:
Close all open documents, open the Character panel (Ctrl-T) and change the Language option. Then every time you create a new document, your preferred language will be set for that document.Hope this tip helps.

Stop underlining words after dot.
Indesign underlines after the dot the words that begin with small letter. This is wrong in the case of abbreviations. Indesign should either recognize the abbreviation either there must be a way to signal the correctness of the word that begins with small cap.
Example: typing the text " bla bla ex. blah" will result in underlined 'blah'.1 vote -
I want to be able to use INDD CC 14 on my Windows 8 Computer
I'm a Creative Cloud subscriber and I'm using INDD for some of my clients as a translator. Now I need to use CC 14 but I cannot update to that version because I'm using a computer with Windows 8. Actually I do not need Windows 10. I want to use the latest INDD version on my computer. I hope you allow subscribers like me to use the latest versions soon.

Reset Bounding Box Menu Item
In my workflow, I need to export JPGs from Indesign by selection quite often. If the bounding box is rotated, it creates excess space around the graphic when exported. It would be very useful and time-saving if there was a menu item to "Reset Bounding Box" similar to Illustrator.

Removal of direct selection function in images
Hi,
it would be possible to disable the moving of an image when I select the central point (it automatically activates the direct selection) and this is very annoying.sorry for the english, but I used the google translator.
1 voteYou can accomplish this by doing the following:
choose View menu > Extras > Hide Content Grabber.
If you want to do this for all documents whenever you select images, close all open documents and choose this option.Hope this tip helps.

I want to delete/remove/manage Recent files from the Start panel.
I archive completed projects, but still have to wade through the empty icons in the Recent files list. It would be nice to right-click > Remove the icons. It must be a simple JDI thing! :)

you had content fitting into frame options available in the tools ribbon. Not anymore. WHY?
you had content fitting into frame options available in the tools ribbon. It's been removed, and now it's a nuisance. :( Bad user experience.
The same with content placed HORIZONTALLY inside the text frame (Top, middle, bottom placement).
Now to access both features I have to go to the menu instead of clicking a button on the tools ribbon. Do not remove working solutions. It's not intuitive and is totally frustrating :(

Bring master page "to front"
I wanted to know if there's a way to use the auto page number feature on top of images. I'm creating a children's book that has images on all the pages. I want to number the pages, but since it sits on the master page, it's always behind the images. Is there a way to bring master page items to the front without breaking the link to their auto-ness?

Bigger preview in Import pdf panel
It is hard to see the PDF preview in the Import PDF panel.
It would be great if you could choose the size of the thumbnail or adjust the size of the entire panel.3 votes
