2. Refine "No Break" by providing suboptions

   While hyphenation preferences can be refined at the Paragraph (style) level, Character (style) options only provide a boolean “No Break” attribute which prevents line breaks whatever the location of the text in the layout.

   Note, for example, that “Hyphenate Across Column” is available as a paragraph option while the user may actually want to turn on/off column breaks from within a character style. The “No Break” attribute is then too harsh, since it fully disallows line breaking.

   Suppose a ITEMS character style is associated to proper names or book titles. We may want to allow regular line breaking for these ITEMS within a frame or a page, but we may need to exclude breaks across frame or page, making sure that ITEMS always appear in full within a visual block.

   A way to fix this would be to make the character “No Break” attribute more detailed. Instead of a true/false value, a dropdown list of distinct options could be implemented: [No Break (full), No Break Across Column, No Break Across Frame, No Break Across Page]

   Note: The option “No hyphenation” (i.e. “No Word Break”) could be added in that list as well. 3. Enable HTML5 to be imported into InDesign and exported as HTML5 / EPUB3

   Currently I'm using in5 to insert HTML5 into InDesign and then export it out as HTML5. I'm also using CircularFlo to insert HTML5 into InDesign and export it out as EPUB3. The funny thing is that the HTML5 that I'm importing to InDesign actually all came from the HTML5 output from Adobe Captivate. It is a little bit ironic that I want to combine Adobe files and make them work together but I've to use external parties plugin to do that. I'm very sure that in the future more and more people will be inserting HTML5 into InDesign either to export as HTML5 or EPUB3. Thus the users will greatly appreciate if we can import HTML5 directly to InDesign and have the option to export the project as HTML5 and/or EPUB3. Thank you very much.

5. Export Book: Option to export documents in book as individual PDFs

   When using the book export, it would be wonderful to have the option to export the documents that make up the book as separate PDFs.

   This option would be useful whether exporting the entire book to PDF or exporting selected documents to PDF. Metadata embedded in each document of the book would be included in the export to pdf.

   For example, I currently create a journal using the book function to pull together and organize the separate INDD files for the cover, TOC, and articles. Once the journal is completed, I need to generate the following PDFs:

   1. Entire journal as pdf, two versions: 150 ppi and 300 ppi (easily done with current PDF export)
   2. All journal articles as separate PDFs at 150 ppi for website use
   3. All journal articles as separate PDFs at 300 ppi

   Steps 2 and 3 currently require opening each article and using two different pdf presets to generate the 150 and 300 ppi versions. When there are 20 articles, this becomes quite tedious. The option to export separate article PDFs in a single export action would be an amazing time savings.

   When using the book export, it would be wonderful to have the option to export the documents that make up the book as separate PDFs.

7. Apply master page according to merge field value

   When using data merge, I'd like to be able to apply master page from merge field.

   Ex.:
   If my merge field value is "Value A", i'd like to apply Master page A.
   If it's "Value B", Master page B.

   It would be a great way to improve customer customization.

9. Making imported PDF edit more obvious in InDesign and fixing delays with mouse clicks

   As a book designer who works with many long manuscripts, I do appreciate being able to import PDF edits into InDesign. That is a great new feature in the last few versions.

   However, some edits are just too hard to spot in a spread. One can easily spot highlighted text (such as when the editors mark a phrase for deletion or replacement). But when the editors insert or delete commas and periods or choose a spot where they want to add new text, there is nothing obvious -- beyond a skinny, nearly invisible cursor -- to draw the eye. The thin cursor can be impossible to spot quickly within a page spread (the fact that it blinks doesn't seem to help), and when one works with books that are 200, 300, 400 pages and more, stopping to search every spread for a barely visible cursor, often multiple times in the same spread, becomes a major headache.

   Currently, I am unable to use the PDF import feature in InDesign without also having the same PDF document open for reference in Acrobat on my second monitor. Working back and forth slows me down, but it is only way I can quickly and confidently find the comma, period, and text insertion edits. Acrobat draws a bold, colored box around each area commented and makes the edit very obvious. This would be such a great feature to add to InDesign.

   Another headache that results from being forced to use both Acrobat and InDesign to ensure I spot all the edits comes when switching back and forth between the two. When one clicks on a comment in Acrobat, that program hesitates a beat before responding, which is annoying enough. But it is worse with InDesign. If you've hopped over to Acrobat and then come back to InDesign, you have to click twice on InDesign's PDF panel before the program will take you to the selected edit.

   I've used this two-program editing method with a great many books so far and still it does not come naturally to click twice on the PDF panel in InDesign, and the need to do so is a constant aggravation. This is nonintuitive in a major way.

   Together, the delays involved in all this back and forth are a huge inconvenience and would perhaps not even be necessary if InDesign somehow called out the edit/insertion points the same way Acrobat does, with a bold box drawn around them. At least one could spot the edits quickly and perhaps would not even have to have Acrobat open at all.

   But when the two programs do still have to be used in concert, it would be great if they each didn't delay in their response to the mouse click.

   So, please consider making these two improvements -- 1) add something like a box or other call out to imported PDF edits in InDesign, especially the small insertion points for commas and periods and 2) do something about the delayed response to mouse clicks in both Acrobat Comments and InDesign PDF Panel when switching back and forth between the two.

   At the very least, could you please consider making imported PDF edits MUCH MORE OBVIOUS in InDesign?

13. Editable hyperlinks in imported .icml files

    Please let us edit hyperlinks in an imported .icml. We can edit paragraph/character styles as we wish since they are not counted as content. But the same applies for hyperlinks, or at least anchor text/pages hyperlinks.
    
    As of now whenever you import an .icml with an anchor text hyperlink the destination disappears.
    Incopy is useful also for people that update multiple documents where only small parts of text differ while the rest is the same, but must be update anyway so you end up only editing one of the very long files instead of 15 and you're sure that you haven't screwed something.

16. Pressure Sensitive Brush Pen (Vector brush to use with pressure sensitive pens)

    Many professional artists use some sort of pressure sensitive pen like Wacom (Cintiq) or the much cheaper and equally good HUION tablets).

    InDesign has a vector pen tool, with which professionals can write, scribble, design and create personalised unique graphic images, with a freedom that no other text/font ever can proviude. But this vector pen tool does NOT support pressure sensitivity.

    Enabling pressure sensitivity (think of it as a simplified Brush Pen tool of illustrator) will allos professionals to directly in our most beloved favorite design program!

17. Stroke Management in Table

    Please put some buttons to select inner strokes / outer strokes of tables rather than right click on the miniature table graphic on strokes panel.

    It will be very useful if you put one click option for Select All strokes, Select Border, Select Inner etc. Right click on that miniature cell sometimes very difficult. And make it the default selection for atleast one document

18. Set row and column dimensions in table styles

    I was looking for a way to set row heights in table styles within InDesign and was surprised out there is no way to do this. The only way to do so is to manually manipulate the size in each table.

    If I want to create a new table in a new document, I was hoping to have all parameters set the way they need to be set in the table style so other users don't have to manually change the size. I would think this would be a common feature that users would love to have.

    Will this be considered for a future update?

20. new button in Layer palette for visibility as in InDesign, also Preferences

    On opening a file in InCopy CC19, CC18 and CS6 all layers are visible, no matter if any were set to be invisible in InDesign.
    It would be helpful to have a button within the layer palette to set all layers to (in)visible as given in the InDesign source.
    It would be even better if InCopy had a preferences setting that would allow you to open all documents with the visibility as given in the InDesign source.

    This would give InCopy user not only access to all layers, but also to decide whether they want to focus on what the lay-outer wants them to see.
