Using microphone to type
Indesign (all adobe apps I use) do not recognize voice microphone (talk to text) option
I am using Mac OS with my apps to assist and InDesign will not work with talk to text feature, or simply the microphone. Is there a solution for this? I see no Adobe Apps such as Photoshop allows this functionality either and InDesign is the only one that is very important and needs to have that functionality.
Is adobe going to work on this situation? When I have to do a text heavy document and the option of talk to text is a savior.…

Conditional no-break in character styles
I want an option to make no-break in character style, but if it's impossible to keep text in frame, breaking would be possible.
For example, usually I don't want to break a hyperlink in text and if I make it no breaking, very long URL's makes it impossible to keep text running in text frames.
I think there is a workaround with GREP's but that's not really solid solution for this.4 votes -
epub new law june 2025
In the EU as per 28 June 2025, ebooks have to meet certain standards, for the handicapped. Will Indesign provide these features? See attached pdf for requirements.

cc team sync
I would like it if you could add a way to live collaborate on a InDesign document.

Ability to brand "Publish Online" docs by adding a favicon and customize the URL
I love this option for publishing professional documents online, but I NEED to be able to brand the digital experience with our logo and change the URL so it isn't indd.adobe. It's confusing/less professional for our customers.

add the ability to create multiple versions of the same document with minimal effort
I create a newsletter, and along with it, an "accessible" version with minimal fonts and styles. Right now, I have to copy and paste each article into the accessible version, and manually apply each paragraph style in order to make things work out. There has GOT to be an easier way to make this happen!
I tried the "paste and link" feature, which would at least save me the copying and pasting of each individual section, but the second one makes an edit and updates the link, all those accessible styles revert back to the original! At the very least,…

Add “Report” button to get rid of garbage posted on these forums
Offer a “Report” option in your feature request forums so some of these completely irrelevant posts can be removed. Example:

Share for review - Select All Bottom
Create a select all bottom that allows people to select multiple documents at once and then share them for review. Right now, this is not an option for users and having to select each document individually can be time consuming.
I use Adobe to share over 100 documents with other users and this is a very manual task. Imagine having to select and share 100+ documents one by one.

ignore text boxes filled with placeholder text during spell check
If you fill a text box from the 'fill with placeholder text' function perhaps it could be highlighted a different colour or have a symbol on the edge which highlights this, and can be ignored during the spell check function. it's super frustrating to have to keep clicking ignore on lorem ipsum!

Modify email addresses in auto-fill suggestions of Share for Review
In Share for Review, in the line under, “Create a web link for stakeholders to comment and provide feedback.” When typing in an email, there is a dropdown that suggests users of the organization. Would very much like to be able to remove expired email addresses from terminated employees, and other erroneous email entries.

Improving the various options of footnotes
In one of the latest versions of InDesign, endnotes have undergone a significant upgrade as they have become live endnotes than static endnotes. But unfortunately, the footnotes are left far behind.
We really ask that you rewrite the footnote feature so that the following features are possible:
1) Select all the footnotes at once (by Cmd + A or Ctrl + A)
2) Option to split footnotes into a number of columns is different from the main text (not just span footnotes but complete control over the number of columns)
3) Continuous footnotes in the same paragraph (run-in).
4) Possibility…785 votes -
UI setting grayed out/can't use at necessary screen resolution
I use a very large TV monitor, so I can see all my work, and as such, the screen res is higher, but your UI scaling feature is grayed out, and info says it's because of my screen res, so does not allow those settings. It's the only software I own that does not enlarge UI along with everything else. Do you not think that if we need a larger screen, we don't also need a larger interface??? We are not all squinting at laptops when we design books. As such, I can't make out the panel and menu options/…

Work in Whole Pixels (Snap to Pixel Grid)
When working in a document whose intent is Web or Mobile it would be great if InDesign had an option to force users to work in whole pixels.
Not to be confused with InDesign's "Snap to Document Grid", what I am thinking is something more like Photoshop's behaviour when your Preferences -> Tools has "Snap Vector Tools and Transforms to Pixel Grid" selected.
The outcome would be that you could never have a page item with floating point values.

Please make it possible to bulk edit colors in a merged document.
I often need to make a global color changes like you can in Illustrator. After spending an hour manually editing the spacing for each entry (some cursive fonts have funky spacing), it's maddening that I can't then change the color in the merged file when the color is coming out wrong in print. Please help!

Enable [None] in Character styles to be assigned a shortcut key
When I'm cleaning up a document, one thing I find frustrating is that to clear any character styles, I have to open the palette and click on [None]. All other styles I can assign a shortcut key to so I can work in the text on the keyboard to assign para and char styles. But I can't clear char styles w/o going back to the mouse and the char style palette.

Paragraph shading (and borders) should be able to clip/inset based on the text box
Paragraph shading extends outside of the text box. This is especially annoying when shaded text spans over multiple pages (see screenshot: AutoShading.png). It would be great if it could automatically clip and inset based on the text box—see screenshot: HowItShouldLook.png. The current solutions I can think of are really messy and easily negated.

Please add database publishing feature
InDesign has become a powerful DTP-application but one feature is missing. Please add support for real database publshing (catalogs etc.). This feature would make thrid-party plugins like inCatalog or inData obsolet..
Database-Publshing should be a feature of the core..1 vote -
Accessibility Layer or Plugin
As accessibility becomes a prioritized feature of all documents, its pertinent to include it without sacrificing aesthetics, which is Adobe's strength. One idea for this is for the designer to create the InDesign document as they normally would on an initial layer, and upon a secondary "layer" the plain text for an e-reader could be supplied, mapped to the corresponding visual layer. This could be a less destructive method than physically altering text box widths to avoid soft returns/rags, or creating new text boxes for each text/paragraph style. It would also export ready to go without further alteration in Acrobat.…

Allow for bullet numbers to display both left AND right
I am a script editor, and formatter. I'd like to be able to create script heading styles that are industry standard. This involves have the scene heading number (which can be styled as a bullet) both on the left AND right of the page. ie 'both' sides. Current we can only style them on the left (unless there's a way to do this I'm not aware of?).
