Enable more control panel and app bar customization
Please enable greater customization of the control panel (the top/bottom panel from the Essentials Classic workspace).
I realize you can customize which tools are included, however, it takes up too much space. Even if I reduce the number of tools to very few, the panel takes up two rows worth of space and all the tools are stacked (in two rows) at the far left of the panel. You also cannot arrange the order or position of the various tools.
I hate how much space the panels take up on the screen and that's part of the reason I like…

Share for Review - Option to add multiple users as Owners.
On many occasions, we have multiple designers working on the same InDesign file. I've noticed on the new Share for Review feature that only the user that created the Review has access to the comments in the Review panel; other users who open the document get a "no access to comments" message (See attached images). I think it would be extremely beneficial to allow multiple 'owners' of the review, so as to allow multiple users to see comments made in the Review panel.

Make annoying datamerge save warning userfriendly
The warning window "You must turn off the data merge preview before you close the document..." must be changed. Its good to have straight hint what's have to be done by user, but in modern software we
need a better approach.
Like button "do it for me now and we continue" and even checkbox "always do that and never ask again" (ofc with undo somewhere in preferences or datamerge interface, see screenshots)1 vote -
Change the process of setting a default object style
Object styles are great, but it is way too easy to accidentally set an object style for all new objects. Suggest requiring a control click or a flyout panel menu item to 'set as new default object style for new objects'. I want my team to get more used to using object styles, but having a default style set by simply clicking on a style when nothing is selected is far too prone to user error and creates massive issues down the road.

Expand PublishOnline Analytics (PART II)
Hello!
Would be possible to get the data of each document day by day instead of big figures? I mean, I would like to know how many people have read my document in the first 24 h after its publication, 2 days after, in the third day... and so on.
That´s very important (and urgent) for us in order to make decissions regarding contents.
Thank you very much in advance!1 vote -
HTML export with Bootstrap CSS classes.
I am sure most savvy web developers are aware of how indispensable Bootstrap can be for quick standard web sites.
https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.1/getting-started/introduction/
I would really like the ID HTML export to gravitate towards using standard Bootstrap classes, this way where we have already taken the time to adapt them into our CSS architectures we could simply plug in the new content without the hassle of dealing with strange naming conventions etc.
according to https://w3techs.com/technologies/details/js-bootstrap
Bootstrap is used by 27.0% of all the websites whose JavaScript library we know. This is 22.1% of all websites.

color profile black listing and/or whitelisting in preflight
Not everything that is RGB is bad in today's print publishing. While we certainly don't want to use sRGB images if we can avoid it, there are some good options for color spaces in media-neutral design workflows (e.g. eciRGB, Adobe RGB).
Being warned that certain undesirable color profiles are being used in linked images, and skipping those that are considered okay, should improve any modern desktop publishing workflow.
A "missing/no profile" option should also be included, as these cases completely defeat the purpose of color management workflows.1 vote -
Image Editing
Built-in image editing feature, lite version that has Hue/Saturation, Levels, and Curves for InDesign so it's quick and easy to manipulate images natively in InDesign, instead of back and forth between PS & ID.

Find/Change Object Position
Feature request: add object position to Find/Change so the position of repeating objects can be changed en masse. Find/Change size would also be helpful.

Make Table of Contents menu robust and intuitive
Make Table of Contents intuitive. It's a powerful tool, and yet difficult to set up even for an experienced user. The navigate the setup menu is static but closes every time. The explanations are poor, and impossible to navigate without watching a bunch of tutorials (and the user manual is not helpful either). Because the layout formating is done in paragraph styles it's difficult to know what and where to change to get a specific result. This software is supposed to make creating a long document easy and yet formatting a TOC requires so much pre-knowledge without any directions in…

Typesetter Mode: Disable Typing Toggle
I work for a book publisher and typeset hundreds of books a year. It would be nice to have a toggle that would disable the ability to add or remove characters from a text frame. Retain the ability to adjust leading, tracking, and other formatting, but prevent accidentally adding characters to the author's text. I currently map "W" to "esc" using keyboard shortcuts, but it would be a kind of nice feature to have built in.

Open more than one document per session (in Open > Recent)
I copydesk book files using InCopy. The book comes to me in chapters, 1 file per chapter, each in a separate subfolder. I work on each book/chapters for several weeks, so I have to close/open them several times a week (and turn off my computer every day, of course). I know there must be a way to merge these documents into a book or something like that, but that's not the point here (I have to accept this workflow and manage it as best I can). Also, I'm not talking here about file tabs, of course (I open several documents…

Disable embedding assets... please...
I spend a huge amount of time in my work editing other people's artwork and the number one issue is embedded images that have been pasted in (instead of file-> place).
I have to jump through lots of hoops to get files to process correctly.
I'm not sure how it would work, but an option to have embedded files restricted by default, with a preference to allow it (with a warning dialog) would go a huge way to instilling the right working practice in new users.
And save me a huge amount of time.

Allow placed Word Documents to map styles within folders
When placing a word document into indesign using the map styles feature, inDesign will only automatically map to existing styles in the document if they are in the root folder of the styles pane. If styles are in subfolders new styles of the same name are created in the root and I manually have to remove them and relink to the existing ones.
This is a nightmare when you have a lot of styles to map, as you end up with a messy styles pallette - i'd love to create subfolders for list / headings / footer styles etc :)

Embed InDesign's Acrobat export settings in pdfs so they can be retrieved by other users.
PDFs are often delivered in artwork packages with no indication of what settings were used to make them.
Files are then updated, localised, re-worked by other users (I specialise in localisation DTP) and then PDFs are required with the same settings.
If these aren't saved in the InDesign file then it would be great to be able to "import" the settings from a PDF that has been made with this feature enabled. It would save having to revert to clients who themselves may not know the settings used by the original designers / printers.

Export multiple joboptions with the same name as in the Indesign-menu
When saving joboptions, you are only allowed to save 1 joboption at a time. For someone who wants to hand over his joboptions to another person, this means you have to export every joboption bit by bit. That can last a long time!
Please allow to export ("save") multiple joboptions via the Pdf-Presets-Menu and include that the export saves the names of the joboptions!
((When exporting /saving one joboption, Indesign does not remember the name of it which is very annoying. Please change that!))

Allow each section or master page spread to have a custom baseline grid
I work on many books that have different sections, with different content. While I try to make sure everything fits and follows the same baseline grid, often that's just not the best solution. I end up using custom baseline grid options on text frames, but that also doesn't solve everything.
It would be very useful to set a baseline grid that applies to a specific master page, or to a whole section.6 votes
