Only align last line to grid
I often use captions (in a separate text frame) aligned at the bottom of the page with the bottom line of the body text and/or an illustration. If the leading of captions and body text is different – which is often the case – It would be useful to be able to align only the last line of the caption to the baseline grid just as it is possible to "only align first line to grid.".

Allow default stroke alignment to be "Inside" even if default stroke is zero
I want to set the default stroke weight to Zero and the alignment to Inside. You can't do this. If you set default weight to Zero the default alignment setting is grayed out. So every time I have to add a stroke to a box I have to change the stroke alignment or it increases the size of the box. (If the default stroke weight is anything other than zero you CAN set the default alignment. Setting the alignment and then changing the stroke back to zero doesn't work. The default of Center returns.)

Hyperlink through ENTIRE book.
Hyperlink pages throughout an entire book. You can only link on the current pages of a document and not the book - I've a 100 page + document and I've to combine it into one doc - madness!

Enable easy batching of GREP Find/Change queries & expandable 'entry window'
Hi there,
Rather than rely on third-party software (or convoluted scripts), there should be an option to batch GREP queries together in the Find/Change menu.
Also, it would be nice (for more extensive/complicated GREPs) to be able to expand the window in general (pertaining to both Find/Change's GREP tab and the equivalent menu for GREP styles elsewhere) when entering the expressions.
As an addendum to that last point, at the very least InDesign should have a built in (expandable) panel for copying and pasting complicated GREP syntax without having to worry about certain syntax items disappearing if copied and pasted…

Pattern support
I am surprised pattern support has not arrived for InDesign yet. I would like to be able to pick a repeating pattern or drop a png of a pattern in and select to repeat it vertically and/or horizontally within a frame.

InCopy needs to have 125% and 175% scaling support.
InCopy is my favorite word processor and works perfectly with InDesign. The one issue is not working properly on 2880x1440 displays and its is due to the lack of scaling options.

Different Size Columns
Provide the option of having unequal column sizes, to provide a 2-1 ratio. This would give easier sidebar style layouts.

Implement Chart- and Diagramfunction
Implement a Chart- and Diagramfunction based on a linked XLS.
Reason:
Technical Data for Products is often managed in XLS and Engineers create all kind of charts and diagramms directly in XLS.
Unfortunately it is not possible to import those XLS-charts in InDesign! There are serveral solutions possible, e.g. via PDF, but these are only "dirty-tricks" and they are all not sustainable at all. In the best case the charts and diagramms look ugly.
While it is possible to link/import XLS-Data, it should be possible to create charts and diagrams directly in InDesign, as Illustrator already does (similar, not nice…20 votes -
pasting rows into table should add them instead of replace existing one.
When I want to move some rows up or down the table, I must first to add that amount of empty rows in place I want them to paste.
Why the cant be just added above active row in table? It would be much easier.

Create an IntelliJ / Webstorm plugin which supports Adobe scripting
Please consider creating an IntelliJ / Webstorm plugin which allows the scripting an debugging of all Adobe applications like Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, ...
This could be a viable alternative to the current ExtendScript Toolkit application, which is outdated, full of bugs, and lakes important scripting features.
The new plugin should support ...
- All Adobe DOM's
- Full code autocompletion
- Code hints
- Connecting to the Adobe applications, allowing real time debugging...

Allow saving importing and exporting Proof Setup settings (Also include Colour blindness settings)
InDesign is usually the final step in creating a publication where the changes can be made. It is therefore important to view a document, especially if intended for print, with correct proof settings. In Photoshop it is possible to save Proof settings, but in InDesign this is not possible (I wish they were interchangeable)
Comparing Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign you see that there is less and less possibilities to have control which is ironic because often you would not know the output intent until you come to InDesign, and you may also have assets that are to be used for…

Update changes in CC Library Color Swatches in objects using theses colors
At the moment I have to change every single objekt wich uses the changed color manually. There should be a Library-Function to do this automatically.
That would be REALLY helpful.

Non-transparant inks
We, a printshop using offset and digital (HP-Indigo) presses, are using non-transpartant spot-colors like White or Foil. Indesign handles spot-colors as transparant. For normal inks, this is OK, but not for those mentioned, since these are opaque. I know the overprint-attribute does something almost similar, but it's not exactly the same.
So i need an option to define a spotcolor as 'Non-Transparent'.
It seems to me that for screen-printing this would also be a valuable option.

Smart hyphenation
A great feature would be if InDesign could add hyphenation rules automatically when when using discretionary hyphens. A pop-up window that asks if you want this word to hyphenate on every instance of the word where you insert the hyphen the first time. I find it a bit too tedious to make new H-rules for every word. This is very relevant for non-english languages where the the pre-defined H-rules isn't very good. There is probably better ways to to this, but I think its time InDesign's hyphenation feature get a little bit smarter.
