A context-sensitive search function for Paragraph Styles
When all I need to see is one instance of a style, with no particular text string specified, It would be great to be able to right-click on a paragraph style in the style menu and simply choose "Find Style" rather than having to open the FIND/CHANGE menu, clear it of any previous entries, and fill in all the new parameters before I can make that one simple search.
EXAMPLE: My client composes her business books in Word and often uses up to nine or 10 "Headings." I just want to see an instance of them so I can get…

INDT file in Book (as styles, variables, parentpage holder)
I want to offer the option to add .indt template documents to a book, with text and object styles and text variables distributed, but excluding pages.
Thus, template documents will be possible to use not only for creating new documents, but also for distributing established styles in a book and even to many books from just one file!
The existing method of importing styles from a regular document within a single book often leads to confusion of style options if the wrong document is selected.
A file from which regular pages will not be imported will be a universal source…

Adding Uzbek spell checking / hyphenation
Hi, InDesign team! I'm coming from Uzbekistan, we build various NLP solutions for Uzbek (spoken by 40 mln people around the world). Recently we made an add-in for InDesign that handles hyphenation and spell checking for Uzbek. However, it's still an add-in, so we have to update its versions over time – we wonder if it's possible to add this feature to InDesign itself so this language will be native in newer InDesign versions.
We're open for any type of collaboration, we'd be very glad if you add our language into the program, we can provide all resources and models…

Enhancement for Check Spelling Functionality
If you could please enhance the Check Spelling option by incorporating features akin to those found in the Find/Change button, it would greatly improve user experience. Specifically, having an "Ignore/Include Masters" button during the spell check process would be particularly beneficial. This addition would allow users to seamlessly choose whether to disregard or include master elements in their spell-check sessions, thereby providing more flexibility and efficiency. Such a feature would streamline the editing process, especially for those working with complex documents, ensuring that they can focus on the necessary corrections without disrupting their workflow. Your attention to this enhancement would…

Support for CMYKOGV (eg. FOGRA 55)
Certification was completed back in 2021 after conclusion of a FOGRA research project. The color exchange profile (ICC) can be downloaded from the FOGRA website.
In essence expanded (or extended, varies by publication) color gamut offset printing is the idea of increasing the color space of CMYK using 3 additional colors (orange, green, violet).
CMYKOGV as characterized by FOGRA 55 is proofable using Epson SureColor printers (P7570, P9570).
I have seen several printers already offering 7c offset print. These days it's basically to cut down on cost (to achieve almost complete Pantone coverage without having to resort to actually spot…

Request: Optional Horizontal Page Scrolling (Book-like Viewing) in InDesign
I mainly work on book and magazine design.
I would like to request an option to view and navigate pages in InDesign using horizontal scrolling, similar to the experience of reading an actual book or PDF spreads.
Currently, InDesign’s vertical scrolling workflow makes it difficult to grasp:
page rhythm and pacing
the relationship between facing pages
the overall structure of a book as a physical object
For editorial designers, books are fundamentally horizontal sequences of spreads, not vertical documents.
When checking layout balance, typography flow, or visual continuity, vertical scrolling creates a disconnect from the real reading experience.

Ribbon and tab interface
I would like to express my desire to have the current menu bar replaced with a Ribbon and tab interface, similar to what is found in Microsoft Office 2016. I believe this new design would significantly enhance efficiency and usability. The Ribbon format organizes commands and tools in a way that is much more intuitive, allowing users to access the functions they need with ease. Instead of navigating through various nested menus, which can often be cumbersome and time-consuming, the Ribbon provides a clear and visual way to find and use features. Overall, I think this change would greatly improve…

Create a tool called Work Checker.
I propose that the developers create a tool called "Work Checker." This tool would feature a screen where any design with multiple pages could be presented like a video. The "Player" should offer adjustable speeds to navigate through the pages. What would the benefit be?
This tool would allow us to compare our layouts in a "spatial" way, making it easier to ensure that the elements on each page maintain aesthetic coherence throughout the entire piece. It would also help identify any "jumps" in elements that disrupt the overall design aesthetic.

Rectangle frames that link to each other so images reflow when one is added or removed like text does in text boxes.
Please make rectangle frames able to be linked so images flow from one frame to the next like can be done with type boxes and text. I work on a 450 page catalog and sometimes there are images that get removed and currently we have to shift all of the images by hand. If the rectangle frames were linked we could delete an image and have the remaining images reflow automatically.

Match Page Navigation When Comparing Two Documents Side-By-Side
It would be helpful if page navigation in one document could be matched in the other when comparing two documents side-by-side, i.e., when comparing two versions of a document.
As it is, it's necessary to navigate, i.e., page-down, in one document then click on the other document and repeat the navigation. As there's no key command to switch tabs/documents/windows either, it's even more unproductive.
Having the option to make the other document in the 2-up arrangement match navigation would improve productivity greatly.

Page background colour
I would like to suggest implementing a feature that allows users to assign or set an individual background colour for each page—rather than using the default white, especially for documents with large number of pages with different page sizes. This feature should be integrated with swatches, eliminating the need to create separate coloured rectangles on each page.

Add a Reference Point option when changing Document Setup
When changing document dimensions in File → Document Setup, there is no option to choose a Reference Point. This feature is very much needed — it would make resizing documents much more precise and efficient.
I truly don’t understand why this option still isn’t available. It’s an essential tool for accurate layout adjustments.

Let AI create paragraph and character styles
How about designing a text by adding fonts, spacing, color, sizes etc. for headings, body text, photo credits, streamers, lists etc. and then ask AI to generate the styles for it and apply those throughout the rest of the document?

Make it possible to simply drag an image from Apple Photos into InDesign
Right now there's many steps required to add an image from Apple Photos to InDesign. You have to download all your images to a folder. Then you have to open the file directory from within the app and search for the image. If you're working with hundreds of images this process is very time consuming and is a real bottleneck.
What if you could just simply drag and drop? Please make this process easier and more intuitive.

Parent Pages
Parent pages are very helpful, but can only impact the very the bottom layer of the page it's applied to.
Would be helpful if a parent page could contain both layouts (base layer and/or an overlay layer), or the ability to apply up to 2 parent pages (base parent / overlay parent) to a page.I'm sure every InDesign user who has ever used Parent Pages can see value in this feature:

The new Mac operating system doesn't support postscript anymore so it's critical to give us the option to save a booklet in pdf.
Eiminate the postscript option in print booklet and replace it with pdf. for saving the booklet on desktop

InDesign 2026 - PDF Export Generates Abnormal File Size
After updating to InDesign 2026, exporting PDF files results in drastically larger file sizes compared to previous versions (e.g., from 6 MB to 50 MB) with the exact same content.
The issue persists even when:
The "Smallest File Size" preset is used.
The Compression settings (downsampling) have been verified and correctly set to 72 ppi.
This appears to be a regression bug introduced in version 2026 that either ignores or poorly handles compression settings or the management of vector/transparency elements during export.

- Is(Are) the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you provide us with the document(s)/asset(s)? Please package the entire document (To package the document, choose File → Package…)

Is there a way to make “long text variables” wrap automatically?
Is there a way to make “long text variables” wrap automatically?
Sometimes I encounter very long chapter titles, and when using variable headers, they don't wrap automatically. Is there a good solution for this?Currently, all the text is crammed into a single line.
