  1. Touch type tool for Opentype feature does not show up while setting the paragraph in "Adobe World-Ready Single-line/ Paragraph Composer"

Touch type tool for Opentype feature does not show up while setting the paragraph in "Adobe World-Ready Single-line/ Paragraph Composer". The script, in this case, found while using Thai with the Opentype font with alternate glyphs.

We can access the feature, but have to go through the top right hamburger conner to select the stylistic set manually. It is disturbing work-flow while typing in bilingual languages; Thai and Latin.

  2. Reintroduce Composite Fonts, Full East Asian Language Support in English (or any) UI

It used to be a feature of InDesign, regardless of the UI language setting.
(It still is for certain UIs, e.g. in the Japanese iD version)

Please bring back this desperately needed feature.

  3. Temporarily disable GREP styles

I'm working on a long document that uses GREP Styles. the applied styles only change the colour of text, so they don’t affect the flow of text. But they sure do slow down the program. I would like to be able to disable the GREP Styles in the paragraph style to speed up the program. The only way to disable GREP Styles is to remove them from the style definition. I duplicated the style to keep a backup of my GREP expressions, but what would be better is a way to individually disable the styles while keeping the expression in…

  5. Variable font issues with named instances 'Regular' and 'Book'

A variable font including instances named 'Book' and 'Regular' breaks the functionality of the instance 'Regular'. Slider change does not change the weight of the font. The same font works well in Adobe Illustrator.

  6. Make it easier to define bullet symbols

It would be nice to be able to either utilize a selected Glyph as a bullet symbol or at least search for a symbol within a font via UNICODE like you can in the Glyphs toolbox.

  7. Allow bullets and numbers to hang outside of the text frame

There is currently no way to make a bullet or number hang outside of a text frame properly. The "optical margin alignment" feature control is iffy at best.

Attached are two photos that show what I mean.

In the first example, the "Correct" green bullets are not achievable in InDesign unless every other paragraph except for the bulleted paragraph has an additional positive left indent on all of its lines. It would be so much easier if we could just add a negative left indent to the first line of the bulleted paragraphs.

In the second example, a document that…

  9. Clear All Style Sets—Right from the Style Set Menu

Since there are a lot of windows to get to the OpenType Style Sets, we need a button that can clear all the opentype features we've tried out. This can be put into the Stylistic Sets Menu. (See attached picture.)

This isn't just valuable to me. This is valuable to:
    1. Other users can feel free to use style sets, knowing that they can quickly clear all options, not spend minutes clicking through menus—Just to turn something off!
    2. Font designers might add more features into their fonts if the features are easier to use.
    3. You've already made that…

  10. Diagonal Strikethrough

An upgrade to the existing strike through option with new settings that allow for diagonal lines. I've added a mockup of the character style options.

This would be an awesome little update wich has many uses and make the life of a lot of InDesigners easier.

  11. Support Excel's Strict Open XML Spreadsheet format

InDesign should be able to Place an Excel file that's been saved as a Strict Open XML Spreadsheet (which appears to be a subset of the normal .xlsx workbook format). Currently, attempting to place an Excel file that's been saved as a Strict Open XML Spreadsheet results in a "Cannot place this file. No filter found for requested operation" error.

A sample Strict Open XML Spreadsheet file is attached.

  12. Change dictionary across paragraph styles

I hope in a feature to change the dictionary across all/selected paragraph styles in a document with a single command. It should be a saving time feature.

  13. In Mojikumi Table, paragraph indent size to be fixed without depending on the first character

InDesign Japanese Edition 15.0 or earlier
At present, the indent size depends on the attribute of the first character, so when the character with a different size or scale comes first, the indent amount changes.
Instead, I want the indent to be fixed based on the text size in the paragraph style or frame grid settings.
The attached image is the current specification.

P.S. If the first character of a paragraph has a decoration such as an underline, the decoration will also accompany the indentation. I think this is a bug.(additional.jpg)

  14. Various footnotes options/formatting

When there are two stories in the document (eg. text and translation) with different styles, it's necessary for the footnotes of each one to have different styles also.

  15. MathML Support

We need to have InDesign to support MathML, this is much awaited feature, but not supporting in InDesign yet.

Currently we're using 3rd party plugins such as MathType, MathTools, PowerMath, etc. but not meeting our expectation, also high license cost than InDesign.

@ALL: Please support to include this feature in InDesign in the very near release.

  16. 1. Warping fonts easily like Aldus Typetwister or Typstyler. Preset by user for easy re-use. 2. Valuable for better design.

Adobe already owns Typetwister when it bought Aldus. Just incorporate it into InDesign. Welcome back to 1990.

  17. Ability to assign a shortcut to [None] in the Character Styles window.

Because you sometimes want to REMOVE a character style and it would be very beneficial to be able to use a shortcut for that as well.

  18. Global Text Edit Across Multiple File Instances

A way to update one Master File, that populates multiple files.

    One product > multiple instances

By changing text on "1" it would update the same text in the same spot for the different instances "1a,1b,1c"

    1 > 1a > 1b > 1c

  19. Table of Contents - Limit to subject lines to Character Style, option

Currently, the TOC will display an entire paragraph of text based on the Paragraph Style. I've assigned a unique Character style to give distinction to the first two sentences of the paragraph using Nested Styles within the Paragraph Style.

In the attached example, you'll see that "Subject 1. Setup." has a distinct Character style, this is the only text that I want to appear in the TOC. Perhaps there's a way to accomplish this. But It would be nice to have the option to populate text based on Character Style only.

  20. Make "Justify Text Next to an Object" work in all cases

As it stands, text wrapping around an object only responds to this preference (and justifies) when it wraps around the left and right sides of the object. It should work even if it only wraps around one side.
