  1. Current Spread Number

In some projects we use spread number instead of page number. Please make it possible to use spread number like page numbers.

  2. Filter by font style

In the filter section of the font live preview, please give us to option to select normal vs. italic to further reduce the number of options shown. Thank you.

  3. make font preview display filtered weights properly

I'm attempting to preview all san-serif, heavy weight, regular width fonts. While the filter shortens the list of fonts in the preview window, when I use the arrow keys to see my live preview I am getting only light weight previews. If I want to see the heavy weight version, I have to pop open each font group and select the heavier weight version. What gives? This is such a basic idea... please show me ONLY bold, heavy, extra, etc. Don't show me light weight previews when I am filtering for heavy weight. This limitation makes live preview almost useless.

  4. Don't add an extra page when endnotes are imported

The new endote option is nice (could be better, but hey, it's something). The only thing that bugs me is the fact that a new page is added everytime I place text that contains endnotes, or when I copy/paste that text.

It screws up much of my design, and I have to manually delete the page and put everything back in it's right place.

Would be great if the endnote frame would just be placed on the same page as the end of the text flow!

  6. Align top line of text frame to baseline grid

    Hi InDesign Team—

The very handy Only Align First Line to Grid feature is essential for building out multiple styles in books and editorial work. However, book designers are in desperate need of a similar feature for text frames, where only the first line in the text frame aligns to the baseline grid. This is essential for building out pages of backmatter, where the text is tighter and does not necessarily align to the baseline grid of the book, but the distance between the head margin and the first baseline should remain the same.

Is such a feature possible, or…

  7. Enhanced Full Vertical Justification feature

Currently, InDesign's vertical justification is very basic and has several drawbacks that render it useless for professional layout.
    1. Very limited Control. The only parameter you can set is the additional gap that will be added between paragraphs.
    2. Beyond that threshold, InDesign adds gaps between the paragraph lines - a typographical catastrophe, without any possibility for control.
    3. The VJ control is and text frame attribute and not in the paragraph style level' which causes un proportional separation between headlines and text - again, typographically un expectable.
    4. The alignment is done without any consideration to the amount of…

  9. Character palette dropdown menu needs to expand full within workspace (revised post)

Apologies, but I posted this before but forgot to include screen grabs. In InDesign CC 2018 when I selected a typeface from the character window drop-down menu, the drop-down expanded to fill my workspace vertically no matter where my character palette was on the screen. Now in CC 2019 it only expands to show 19 or 20 fonts in a much smaller drop-down window. I would love either to go back to the way it was before or have the option to enlarge the drop-down typeface selection window.

See the difference between CC 2018 and 2019 in the screen shots.…

  12. Option to paste in out of pasteboard also

In Adobe Pagemaker, pasteboard is firm. but in Indesign, the pasteboard also moving with the page. If you want to stick the pasted item to see in all pages that helps. So please provide Option to paste in out of pasteboard also

  13. Discontiguous selections in InDesign

It would be nice for users to be able to make discontiguous text selections in InDesign, as you can in Microsoft Word.

  14. Have Type Colour always available to select/change

Please can we have the Type Colour always available to select and change, rather than being hidden secondary to the Fill Colour.

e.g. why is the Type Colour not in the Character panel like Photoshop has.
why is the Type Colour in the main horizontal Control Panel not NEXT to the Fill Colour? ... Why do you have to click Fill Colour then T then select the Type Colour??? ... the same for the Swatches Panel - why is the Type Colour secondary to the Fill Colour.

The same problem also goes for Stroke colour ... why can't the Stroke…

  15. make fonts go back to having bold and italic versions

(rather than 'heavy' and 'regular italic' or 'oblique' etc) so that we can use shortcuts to apply them

  17. Hyperlinks report

The Hyperlinks panel needs to be better overhauled please. I have a 300 page magazine with hyperlinks in each section (different sections provided by a team) ... so a Report Hyperlinks option would be very useful please, in the same way you can generate a Report in the Links panel.

  18. Bring back the Paragraph Direction button/option that was removed in v14.0.1.

Bring back the Paragraph Direction button/option that was removed in v14.0.1.

I am using Middle East InDesign, with English/Arabic language app option.

I have been informed by Adobe Support that v14.0.1 has removed Paragraph Direction all together. Since I have to work with Arabic frequently, this is VERY disruptive since Arabic is written right to left. It seems that even Change Text Direction has even been removed from the Character window options, so I can't find any possible workaround.

I don't understand how any users that need Right to Left written languages will even be able to use your updated…

  19. Numbered paragraphs don't increment in footnotes

Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server
    14.0.1.209
    Mac OS 10.13.6

    Steps to reproduce the issues
    1. Apply automatic numbering to a paragraph style
    2. Apply that style to footnotes

    Expected result
Each footnote will be properly numbered, starting at 1.

    Actual result
    All footnotes are numbered 1.

In the attached screenshot you can see the third footnote. The indicator is the correct number but the footnote is numbered 1, even though it is the third footnote. Footnote 2 is also numbered 1.

  20. Make OpenType SVG composed glyphs unbreakable

For now combined glyphs can be accidentally broken if they reach end of line.

For example, I add composed glyph 0x261d + 0x1f3fe (☝🏾) It is up pointing hand with skin tone modifier.

    Applied EmojiOne font.

Now i start added dots before is (.........). When glyph reach end of text field, he will be PARTIALLY moved to next line. This moment it will be broken.

I understand why it happens, but this is unexpected behavior.

I think there should be an option in paragraph or character style, that makes glyphs unbreakable.
