Box Overlay Not 100% Transparent When Printed (solved)
Finding that grouping items and then applying an effect (like outerglow) to the group causes transparency issues when printed. I have a graphic created with multiple paths, grouped it, applied outer glow, and now when printing, the overlay "box" of the grouped item interacts incorrectly with the layers below it when printed.
In the attached image:
1. Design without grouped elements - the white burst in the background looks fine
2. Design with the grouped elements with effect applied, notice how the "box" around the mask is sort of visible? Like there is an effect on the box causing it to interact with the white burst oddly
3. I outlined the border so you can see itThe box around the grouped objects also is not the same as the actual boundaries of the grouped object .... like InDesign flattened it and created a custom outline tight against the outer edges of the paths.
Once I ungrouped the items it asked to delete the effect and I did. Reprinted and it came out fine. Hope this makes sense.

InDesign lock file corrupted when computer sleeps
InDesign lock file is corrupted if computer sleeps with an open document with pending changes. App instructs to close the app and try again. When InDesign starts and you try to open last opened file, App states that I don't have permission or the file may already be opened. All you can do is copy the file, but all pending changes have been lost. Cannot delete the lock file in order to access original file. This is a continuing problem. InDesign still doesn't create usable PostScript file
As reported several months ago, PostScript files created by InDesign do not open correctly in Acrobat Distiller or Illustrator or Mac's Preview.
Problem continues with 15.1.1.
[In my case, this need for ps would be eliminated if you restored the ability to directly export Thumbnails as a PDF!]

Arrow Functions
Why did you reverse the arrow colors? These were so primary to the use of the program its just a mind bend. I'm not finding the new functions to be very useful. The second arrow doesn't seem to have any valid use. Its harder to move the boxes with the first arrow because it jumps to the underlaying image and moves it instead. Trying to build a polygon and move the points to add highlight to irregular shapes and cannot move the points without it shifting other points that were set in place where they were needed. Not helpful.

bad export of styles' tags
I have a problem with bag export of the styles' tags to ePUB with the latest InD. It's shortens the filled names of the HTML classes in the CSS file and makes some own different names in the .html files itself. It's quite messy then :(
Could be kind of this previously reported issue: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38520238-export-tagging
The problem did not occure when exporting from InD 14.0.3

spell check
Hi
Please help
Half way through spell checking a document, InDesign has just stopped recognising plurals and suggesting spelling the word with a gap and then the 's'
I'm up to date with InDesign and have been using it for over 15 years and never seen this

Outdated "Dutch 2005 reform" dictionary
Some words where marked as incorrect, that where definitely correct. I had to update the Hunspell dictionary myself to get it working.

InDesign Stalls when Network Volume Disconnected
Whenever I have a linked/placed file on a shared network volume (Mac) and I disconnect from that volume InDesign stalls, it doesn't crash, it does usually recover but takes several minutes. This is even if the ID file containing the linked item has been closed. I think this could be fixed.

InDesign highlighted text sometimes has blanks in attribute sizes, & increase/decrease doesn't respond to blanks.
After we highlight text, InDesign many times shows blanks in some of the attribute sizes. Sometimes with highlighted text all the sizes do show, but often with highlighted text the sizes are blank for some of the attributes we want to adjust. I can't figure out how to avoid this. Many, many times, highlighted text shows blanks. It's a regular occurrence. Further, with the blanks, the increase/decrease tabs (the small up/down arrows) don't work. This causes a big waste of time, repeatedly, as we highlight text. So we have to un-highlight the text. Look back at the attribute size, remember it, re-click to get the text curser, re-highlight the text, then click on the attribute number, type in a number to adjust, then we can use the up/down arrows, finally, to make the adjustment. InDesign has a major waste of time built right into its text highlight process.

Suggestion -book (choice of layers)
I produce several multi-language books & brochures that consists of up to 114 separate documents linked via a Book file. Each language has its' own layer with the same name in all documents while other layers are exclusive to, or only exist in some documents. Currently when I have to Print or create a PDF of a specific language I have to open every single document to activate the layers I want visible, save, and then proceed to output the entire book.
I would like to propose that Indesign incorporate an additional tab in its' print/pdf dialog boxes that lists ALL layers across all documents selected and allows the user to choose via a checkbox which layers are to be output.
Furthermore I'd like to suggest layers with the same name work similar to how the Links dialog works where I could select the top-most label to output all layers with the same name -OR- have a drop down that lists the documents that layer name is found in & allows me to select which ones I want output or not.
This would save a tremendous amount of time & effort especially when a change occurs across all languages requiring I output the entire book for each language. Currently having to open, activate/deactivate layers, & re-save every document for each language I need to output is extremely time consuming & ridiculous.
Thank you in advance for your consideration. I truly hope you will choose to implement this suggestion.
Respectfully,

InDesign 2020 pdfs not exporting correctly
PDFs have an error when viewing in acrobat and can not be imported into another Indesign file as an image. This is for print ready pdf's, not interactive ones.
The attached screenshot shows error message and the pdf has dropped an image and some copy.

Wrong translation of “Publish online” UI in Czech language
Please correct wrong translation of "Single" and "Spread". In the latest version of InDesign the translation means "One FIle" and "Extension", crazy, isn't it? Please follow the long established terminology developed in old days when you did ask humans to translate UI items and you did consult it with local experts: the names are correct in InDesign PDF export dialog, so why don't you reuse the correct terminology?
The correct form is "Stránky" and "Dvojstránky".!!! PLEASE stop using robots or Google Translate for new features in InDesign !!!

- I'm having InDesign issues recovering 2 proposal documents I was working on. When I went to save it I got this message and when I went to the folder the file was gone and only showing as a locked file. (please see attachments). Then when I tried opening InDesign back up it gave me this message. It's not letting me open it even when trying to open it from my desktop. (please see attachments.)
- Successful save and successful opening of files.
- Unable to save and recover document successfully.
- See attachment.
