Crash on save, all work lost
Version 16.0.1 x64
Working on an existing document. Nothing out the the norm. Just basic single-user InDesign. Upon save, it said the "document needed to be repaired and some unsaved changes might be lost". Well it lost everything and I lost 2 hours of work. I think InDesign is becoming like the old Quark XPress where you had to hit Ctrl-S like a rabid monkey to save your work from loss.The other thing is lately InDesign crashes on startup.

Effect applied to frame border affects anchored image inside the frame
After applying the effect to the frame border the anchored image inside it looses its 100% transparency.

Publish Online menu inactive after one use
Indesign 16.0.2
When you go to the menu File/publish online it's works the first time you use it. But, 5 minute later when you want to update your publish online document the menu File/Publish Online option is inactive (grey).
I must quit Indesign, relaunch it and after that, the menu File/publish online is active.2 votes -
Cannot place Excel .xlsm files
Adobe InDesign 2021's File > Place... dialog does not allow the selection of Excel .xlsm files even though it appears to be capable of importing them.
On Windows, this can be worked around somewhat painfully by showing "All Files" in the Place dialog, but in macOS there is no similar workaround.

Keyboard shortcuts do not work at startup
All keyboard shortcuts — including cmd-K for Preferences and cmd-N for New Document no longer work at program startup. They become functional again after a document is created or opened. Please restore this functionality.

Apple M1 Mac mini. Big Sur, InDesign CC 2021, tables are SLOW
I've created a 6 column, 355 row table. No fill, default black stroke. I've created this same table, from the same data 100 times on my 2015 imac, running InDesign 2017 thru 2020. High Sierra was the highest MacOS on previous computer
When I copy a word or phrase (100 or fewer characters) and paste it into another cell, it is showing the thinking beachball for 15 seconds. I'm simply double clicking on 5 characters to copy, then clicking into another table cell to paste the word. Everything that I had previously completed using tables in previous versions was quick.…2 votes -
Verifying "Adobe InDesign 2021"
Since updating to 2021 versions of Creative Cloud applications, there's a persistent 'Verifying "Adobe _____ 2021" message that pops up frequently.
Once you see these, you can't get rid of them. A restart is required.
The version is the latest version (16.0.2)
Steps to reproduce: Update and then open InDesign
Expected result: InDesign opens normally, verifies and the verification message disappears
Actual result: The verification message never goes away. The cross icon doesn't work.

Guides/Grids not showing
InDesign16.02 & 16.01
For some reason today, when I opened an InDesign file from a packaged InDesign folder in the latest version of InDesign, I could not view the page margins, document grid, baseline grid or ruler guides. I tried toggling them with the shortcuts and by directly selecting them from the InDesign menu. I uninstalled the latest version and tried the previous to make sure it wasn't a version issue. Share for Review -Disappearing tools
I have Indesign 16.0.
On my first test of share for review, all the tools appeared.
after saving it they disappeared. Then I saw that save as function disrupts the process.
Then I signed out of my account and rebooted.
When I signed back in the tools were there again.
I opened another document (made in InDesign 16.0) and the tools were gone.THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!

Exporting Fixed Layout ePub files from InDesign has errors
A document exported from InDesign with a fixed layout selected has errors included in the file. Actually, the fixed layout epub is not able to be opened even in Adobe Editions PC version. Can this error be addressed and fixed?

Text anchors in alternate layouts break
If I create a document with text anchors and then make an alternate layout, InDesign gets confused as to where the links should go. I would love to be able to create the alternate layout and have InDesign understand that those links go to the locations in the newly created layout.
Apparently, the broken text anchors in alternate layouts have been an issue for a while. Here's a thread on Creative Pro (https://creativepro.com/topic/text-anchors-in-alternate-layouts-broken/) from 2013 about it.

Document Fonts slows everything down
There is a huge speed / usability problem with text boxes that happens when there is a Document Fonts folder contiguous to the InDesign file. I think it doesn't even have to be a text box with a font from Document Fonts.
Clicking into or escaping out of text boxes impossible or freezes InDesign. Whole app is super slow, and unusable.

spacebar used as toggle for hand tool from another tool
When using any tool—after using the spacebar to access the hand tool temporarily, the hand tool then remains. It does not toggle back to the tool used previously.

Rendering intent not being respected switching color spaces inside Swatch-Panel
Hi there,
so apparently the rendering intent set in the document OR the application isn't being respected when the color space of a swatch is being changed e.g. from RGB to CMYK.
Tested in InDesign 15.1.3 and 16.0.1
Steps to reproduce:
1 create a new document, with working spaces sRGB and "PSO coated v3" (profile available on eci.org)
2 create a swatch, e.g. RGB 0 / 98 / 227
3 change to CMYK, results in the correct 90,64 / 63,6 / 0 / 0Now
- go back to step 2

Organize styles per book, not per file.
Having to synch the styles manually instead of just having the styles available throughout the book is a pain. Also I cannot synch single styles. There is an object style I use for chapter headings, the objects get displaced everytime I synch.
