Just upgraded my MacBook Pro to Catalina and suddenly I'm unable to place images. When I select Place from the File menu, click on the file I want, the Open command is grayed out. The only way I can get images onto the page is by dragging them from Bridge. I'm running ID 14.0.3, the latest version.1 vote
When a multipage pdf is placed in InDesign, and an update of the pdf is needed, it is possible to do 'update link' in the links panel. But when 'show import options' is ON (in the 'place' window), all of the placed pages of the pdf will be replaced by page 1 of the updated pdf.
For my opinion, if you want to update the instances of a placed pdf, the responsive pages have to be updated. At least the option must be accessible when updating the link.1 vote
I created a graphic with Minion Pro Bold font but when I reopen the file to do more work a pop up window says I need to activate the Bold. Only when I shut down the software and reopen it after activating does the Bold font appear as originally designed. This happens over and over and seems like an unprofessional bug in the software.1 vote
In CC2019 Indesign, when importing several pictures at once and trying to place them in prepared frames, the right arrow to select next image doesn't work properly (slow reaction and only shows next picture while placing cursor on next frame or displaying an image but loading an other one in the frame). Worked well in CC2018. Is this a bug and if yes, how to fix it?1 vote
Reproduced in Adobe InDesign CC 2018 and 2019 on Mac and PC
1) Converted a PDF file to a CMYK JPEG and a RGB JPEG
2) Import both images into InDD
3) RGB image previews/prints correctly
4) CMYK image previews/prints as inverted/negative
The CMYK file opens correctly in other apps: Photoshop, Illustrator, Preview, Web Browsers, etc.1 vote

Indesign will on occasion replace all placed images in document with grey boxes.
Issue occurs seemingly randomly when moving elements in the document.
Issue affects all placed images in document, including .ai and .png images.
Issue is not document-specific, although seems to affect documents containing transparency more frequently.
Additional new images placed while issue is ongoing results in a grey box.
Changing Display Performance settings does not resolve issue.
Restarting InDesign resolves the issue.1 vote
Linked images within linked Indesign files appear pixelated, even if the links are updated. It's temporarily fixed by relinking the file – but it goes back to appearing pixelated when the file is reopened. This has only happened recently and has never been a problem in the past.1 vote
With cs6 no problem. The same bitmaps files (TIFF) with CC, the display is very bad, even in high performance. Impossible to find a solution with technical assistance. Graphic designers with whom i works have the same problem. Apparently on the forums it would be a known bug. I work with windows 10.
Two screenshot to see the difference between CS6 and CC1 vote
Under Scripts, my image catalog script does not complete the place command to create an image catalog for me. When bug is worked out, I would also like an option to number each image, instead of only placing file names.
To recreate: Create new document, letter size. Open scripts, and run Imagecatalog.applescript. Set rows and columns( doesn't matter, also doesn't matter if labels is checked or unchecked) . Page will populate rectangle boxes, but not graphic frames nor insert images.

When adding my own text to a file in InDesign/CC Libraries (See attached image) - it deletes part of the text so I have to rewrite it again.
'Saks' becomes 'ks'
There's a glitch and the text disappears.
It's a collaboration work account, but can't it get more stable?

When choosing File -> Place the dialog says "Open" on the selected item. In stead of "Place"
In training on indesign i allways have to explain this. We can only Open indesign files, but we can Place other media. The dialog window should use the term Place.1 vote
If you dublicate a layer with a object group on it, and then ungroup (the also dublicated) objects on the new layer, they are all moved to their original layer.
This objects should stay on the new layer!1 vote
BUG? CC 2019. When placing a PDF file we used to get generic PREVIEW icon which was preferred. Now every "place" only shows the actual contents of the PDF document. This is in the FILE -> PLACE -> "Choose PDF" dialog window1 vote
Take the following word file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sta1b2iqhtx72if/basic%20word%20fail.docx?dl=0
it contains two equations that I've highlighted in the original.png file so their locations can be identified (I've only done this to the screen capture, they're not highlighted in the word file).
Now, place this word file into InDesign and the result as shown in result.png is that the equations are missing.
The version of Word used is Microsoft Word for Mac 16.16.11 (190609) but I'm sure the same thing will happen from Word for Windows1 vote
Please see attached video. Only happens when adobe is installed on the computer.1 vote
Just installed ID 2019 5/10/19. Importing hi-res photos, come in pixelated. PDFs are fine. Trashed ID prefs. No help. I noticed that it often says "Reading (photo)" at the bottom bar info, but my doc did not show that. However, if I DELETE one of the photos, then UNDO it (command-z), it forces ID to redraw it, along with the other photos. They appear sharp and hi-res. However, saving it does no good, as it appears pixelated whenever I open the doc (I tried several docs). So, the work-around is to do the delete-undo while I'm working on the file, so it's clear. I'm enclosing a PDF to show what I see on screen.

The window for "Place a video from a URL" will not accept a safe HTTPS link (only http). Thus when I publish it, the browser throws a warning asking if I trust the content. Extremely silly bug in this age of security issues.1 vote
After the latest update, when I use my library to place a logo on a page in InDesign, it now almost looks like a white background PNG instead of the logo without any background. Running into printing issues with white boxes around all of our CC Library Graphics.1 vote
With the new Content Aware Fit feature Illustrator art from documents in a previous version of Indesign come in resized in the box. Therefore all legacy indd documents have Illustrator art that resized.1 vote
