1. Locked objects get selected

   Not sure why adobe changed the lock of an item. It used to work perfect to lock my background objects. Now, it I have background objects; they still get selected even if they are locked; it's such a huge inconvenience and waste of time to sort selected objects. Please fix or put back the lock object.

2. selecting objects

   If I want so select one or multiple objects with the arrow courser the workspace gets white when I press the mouse button until I release it. So I can't se my graphics. This is since the 23.0 version.

3. heic

   When importing HEIC image files, the orientation of the picture stored in the metadata is being ignored. This is very annoying, since one has to rotate the image manually each time this is imported.

4. Page tool causes layout shifts on parent pages

   When the Page Tool is used to resize parent (master) pages, unwanted shifts of page items may occur. These can occur directly in the document or also after an IDML export. Whereby with the IDML export the order of the sample pages plays a role

   Concrete example: When the right bottom corner of the Page Tool is selected and the page size is changed, a position mismatch occurs on the inherited master page.

   It is expected that on master pages of the same size the position of objects and inherited object is the same.

   This does not occur if the upper left corner of the Page tool is used when resizing.

   You can see this also in the different matixes of the inner coordinate system of the master pages.

5. Align panel issues

   I'm using v 18.3 on mac.

   My align panel isn't completely viewable and looks different that it ever has before. The normal options are gone. Also, in the top toolbar, the align tools only show up when I try to align objects. The tools don't appear when I attempt to align text boxes.

   I've attached a screenshot showing how the toolbar has always looked when I've selected assets to align, one showing how those options are gone unless I'm aligning objects, and a final one of the align panel. This has been very frustrating.

7. Placed PDFs and Images Not Rendering

   I'm on InDesign 2022 (17.2) and have started recently having issues with placed images and PDFs after an update. I have a 2021 silicon Mac Mini for Travel and an Intel 2019 iMac for home use. Both on Monterey 12.3.1

   The rendering issue began after certain documents originally worked on in the silicon version had issues when opening in the Intel version.

   This happened with both images (TIFs, JPGs) and PDF files. After placing the files in InDesign (in the mac mini) they rendered fine. Upon opening the files though in InDesign on my iMac. The renderings did not appear. Deleting the image box and re-importing did not help. Trashing the ID preferences did temporarily help though.

   Unfortunately, upon opening another file this morning the same issue occurred.

8. Persistent graphics issues

   There are STILL graphics problems in Indesign 17.2. Things disappearing off the screen that don't reappear unless you try and move them (zooming in and out doesn't work), streaks appearing across the screen.

   I am so bored of the constant bugs in this app.

9. Linked EPS appears with jagged/rough edges even on High Quality Display

   I've never seen this before, but linked vector EPS files aren't previewing properly in InDesign. The edges are super jagged when they should be smooth lines.

10. Can't select gradients from swatches

    Since installing the new InDesign 2021, I'm not able to apply my colour swatches to the gradient bar. When I click on a colour swatch, it changes the main fill rather than the gradient colour.

    This was working before the update.

    To apply a swatch to one of the gradient stops, you have to hold down the Alt key and then click on a Swatch in the Swatches panel. Clicking directly on any of the swatches changes the fill color of the object to the Swatch color instead of changing the color of the gradient stop.
    Please confirm the above in the previous release as well as InDesign 2021.

11. Clipping paths with inset frame only use the main clipping path.

    I have many photos with clipping paths that exactly outlines the garments. When using these against a backdrop, there is a thin white remnant of the white backdrop. To avoid this I can use INSET FRAME on the clipping path.

    But, if I use inset frame, the "internal" paths are disregarded and it only uses the first clipping path.

    I know I should fix the images, but it would take me ages. I have requested the different photographers to make the paths correctly, but they tend to revert to setting the paths at the garment edge. I do not know if you regard this as a bug, but one should at least have an option of applying the inset on all paths. Right? Indesign 15.01

12. InDesign doesn't sort numbers at the beginning of filenames naturally when placing multiple files, instead opting for alphabetical

    InDesign CC 2020, 15.1.2 (Mac, but possibly Windows, I can't test)
    Place multiple image files where filenames start with increasing numbers (e.g. page numbers).
    Expected: files get placed in order 1, 2, 3, ..., 10, 11, ..., 100, 101, etc.
    Actual: files get placed in order 1, 10, 100, ..., 2, 20, 200, 201, 3, ..., etc

    It doesn't follow the OS implementation of natural order sorting, so placing a lot of images doesn't match the Finder. It instead uses alphabetical sorting, which is counterintuitive.

13. Viewing page with linked image causes file to be marked as dirty (needs saving)

    InDesign version: 15.1.1
    Additional versions tried: 15.0.3, 15.0, 14.0.3
    MacOS Mojave (10.14.6) on two different computers

    To reproduce:
    1. Create a new empty document.
    2. Add a second page to the document.
    3. Place Image, onto the page you're viewing (I did a PNG)
    4. Save and close the document.
    5. Open the document.
    6. Wait 2-20 seconds, doing nothing to change the document.

    Expected result: document opens to page with placed image, nothing else happens / changes.

    Actual result: document opens to page with placed image, and after a delay the document is marked as changed (asterisk appears in tab before the filename, InDesign prompts to save document when you close it)

    Additional detail: It seems to key off of viewing the page with the linked image, not just opening the file. If you save the document while viewing the page without the image, then when you re-open it (and see the imageless page) the file is not marked be as dirty even if you wait. However, if you then go to the page with the linked image (by clicking, scrolling, or command-J), shortly after you get there the file will be marked as dirty. (If you scroll, the key event seems to be hitting the boundary to the new page; the linked image does not need to actually be displayed.)

    Attempted fixes which did not resolve the problem:
    • Deleting my InDesign preferences (by holding down CTL-CMD-OPT-SHIFT during program startup)
    • Deleting my Cache

    InDesign version: 15.1.1

14. Problem with changing the cursor to text - Indd 2020

    Hello. After running the latest version of InDesign CC 2020 v. 15.03. x64, I have a problem with changing the cursor to text and to back. It takes about 40-50 seconds. This happens each time you launch InDesign. The size of the processed file does not affect the error. Thanks for feedback.

15. Variable font doesn't...vary.

    I just installed the new Macklin variable fonts from Monotype. They work as expected in Illustrator, and the "regular" cut works as expected in InDesign. However, the Macklin Sans font dosen't work well in InDesign: the prebuilt weights are functional, but when one varies the axis sliders, they seem to have no effect. Bug in the font or in InDesign?

16. CC Libraries panel gets stuck when Relinking

17. Linked AI / vector file previews with jagged bezier curves when rotated 90 degrees

    Bezier curve of linked AI file previews as jagged/tangent straight lines when rotated 90 degrees. Looks fine at all other angles.

    Linked file is saved as AI 2020.

    We have verified this issue using customer document.Issue is reproducible in InDesign’s 15.0.2 and 14.0.3 versions.
    We will update this thread once we have proper fix for this issue.

    Workaround:
    Please switch to CPU rendering and change display performance to typical.

18. InDesign won't import Microsoft Word Equations, even as graphics

    Take the following word file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sta1b2iqhtx72if/basic%20word%20fail.docx?dl=0
    it contains two equations that I've highlighted in the original.png file so their locations can be identified (I've only done this to the screen capture, they're not highlighted in the word file).
    Now, place this word file into InDesign and the result as shown in result.png is that the equations are missing.
    The version of Word used is Microsoft Word for Mac 16.16.11 (190609) but I'm sure the same thing will happen from Word for Windows

20. XMP file info dialog box (for linked images) no longer shows up

    I clicked the flyout menu in the Links panel, and choose to display the XMP file info and the dialog box doesn't show up. It's like it is off screen somewhere, as all the menus are then grayed out. I can hit Escape a few times to get out of it. But sometimes InDesign totally locks up and I have to force quit.
