  1. Edit original not launching native application

Edit original was easy to access using option + click linked image.
Since the latest update InDesign v14.10 and Mac OS Mojave, this action opens the 'Import PDF' dialogue and if you click 'Ok' launches Photoshop. The linked image is an Illustrator .ai file. All used to work, why the change?

  2. images are missing

When opening v.2018 Indesign files or new v.2019 files, bitmap images are not displayed. Images are shown as gray boxes with an X across the box (see attached). Display settings changes do not remedy the problem.

I have to work in v.2018 until this is fixed.

  3. fitting rotatet bitmaps

I do not know if it's a bug or feature request:
Rotated bitmaps should be fitted to fill its box completely. After fitting no box-backgraund or transparency inside the box should to bee seen.
Was it not in former versions possible?

  4. No longer scroll to select items with the arrow keys

With import of several items you can no longer scroll to select items with the arrow keys?

It work if i use place CMD+D but doesn't work with CC libraries.

If i use more than 1 items in the CC libraries i need to place one of the items in the layout and after i can scroll to select items with the arrow keys on the keyboard

  5. InDesign Enlarges New Assets larger than their Bounding Box

Since the new update, every time I drag an image or logo, etc. into Indesign and drag out how large I want the asset to be displayed....
    - Indesign places it (after a short delay), but makes the bounding box smaller than the actual asset. So the logo gets partially covered by the bounding box.

I'm not using the content aware sizing or anything. The bounding box should exactly match the asset as its being dragged in for the first time. Very frustrating.

    Hi Patrick,
We’re sorry to hear that the latest version of InDesign is not behaving as per your expectations.
You said that you are not using Content Aware Sizing. However, could you check once again to see if you have enabled the setting ‘Make Content-Aware Fit the default frame fitting option’ in the Preferences dialog (under General section)?
Also it would be helpful if you can show us a quick demo of the issue and/or share the file (along with the asset).

  6. Curves from Illustrator are straight lines in InDesign but fine when exported to PDF

I have a graphic that I've created in Illustrator that one of the curves displays as straight lines when viewed in InDesign. Export it to PDF and it displays as it should. The grey circle that this element sits on renders correctly in both. We have had this on files in the past. Any ideas?

  7. Placed illustrator .ai color dodge layers in Indesign don't display/print correctly

Placing .ai stock files which have soft 'color dodge' layer highlights display and print as hard masks in Indesign. The solution I've found is re-saving the file as an EPS. Attached is a sample image (.ai on left, .eps on right).

  8. text

I am having text problems when regular text is near an image and the text which is within the boundary box of the image then text prints out bold. It does not appear bold on screen and the font is definetly regular but ive done some test and where the boudnary image box over hangs into text it then prints out bold mid word or wherever the image boudnary box is. This happens on psd images which have been deppetched and have no background.

  9. Clippingpath inset

I don't really know if its a bug or a feature:

If I set an inset for a clippingpath (made in Photoshop) by for example 3mm, it sets the inset based on the scaling of the image. Means: if my image is scaled by 50% the inset will only be 1,5mm. As I have a document with multiple scale ratios it is not possible to maintain a coherent inset amount.

I use the clipping-path frame to generate a cutting contours for stickers which all have to have a specific inset to avoid "blank streaks".

  10. illustrator pattern

    1. Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server
    Illustrator 22.1 Mac
    InDesign 13.1 Mac

    2. Steps to reproduce the issues
    i. Create a pattern fill in Illustrator with some part of the pattern using an overprinting fill or stroke in the Attributes panel.
ii. Place the Illustrator file in InDesign.
iii. The file does not preview unless Overprint Preview or Separation Preview is on.

    3. Expected result
The file previews normally and objects below can be seen through transparent parts of the graphic.

    4. Actual result
The graphic does not preview. Objects above (yes, above) the graphic are hidden…

  11. paste illustrator path

Copy/pasting a stroked path from Illustrator works OK only if the stroke is centred on the path.

If the stroke is set in Illustrator to align with inside or outside of path, inDesign pastes a closed shape. Means to get an accurate path you have to changed the stoke alignment in Illustrator, then copy/paste, then change the stroke alignment back in inDesign...

  15. text wrap detect edges

    ID 13.1 x64, Win 7, AI 22.1 64 bit
Text wrap w/detect edges may not detect text in AI file, may not detect shapes well. Have AI file with graphic and text placed in anchored frame in ID doc. If set to wrap around shape, detect edges, text in ID doc runs through text in AI graphic. Also (noted in in forums ) text may not wrap around white or nearly white shapes in AI graphic.

  17. Graphic Frame Text Wrap in Find/Change Object

I'm running InDesign 12.0.0.1 (2017) on mac OS 10.12.6 (Sierra). I was originally trying to write a script to automate changing text wrapping on all graphic frames in the active document to wrap to the largest area (TextWrapSideOptions.LARGEST_AREA). When I couldn't get a script that should have worked to function properly, I decided to try automating Find/Change Object queries. That's when I discovered that the manual queries weren't function. Allow me to elaborate:

Here's what I want to do:
Change the "Wrap Options > Wrap To" setting (TextWrapSideOption) for all graphic frames to "Largest Area" (TextWrapSideOptions.LARGEST_AREA). This should really only…

  18. Images with same name confusion

We've had a couple of instances in the past month with InDesign documents linking to different images that happen to have the same name and are in 2 different file locations. It seems that in some instances, InDesign will take it upon itself to relink the wrong images even though those images haven't been touched (either on the file system or in the InDesign file). There has been one occasion where this happened and it wasn't spotted until the document was printed with the wrong images in and today someone noticed while working on the file that an image had…

  19. Auto-Fit tick box does not work and has no effect when placing images into a Frame or Rectangle

I am using InDesign CC 2018 V13.1. In previous versions the Auto-Fit tick box worked just fine. With CC 2018 it does not. When placing an image into a Frame or Rectangle, ticking the Auto-Fit tick box has no effect. The image is placed into the box at full size. I then have to resize the image manually or using the Fit Content To frame button. I teach InDesign at Cambridge University and this missing feature is confusing for beginners. Please let me now how to rectify this issue.

  20. 'Move Pages' causes the position of content to shift to the right on right-side pages, master same for both files

'Move Pages' causes the position of content to shift to the right on right-side pages, even though the master pages are the same for both files.

I am trying to take several page sets and combine them in one file, but I have to manually fix them after moving the pages over. Very concerning as I'm not sure if anything else is breaking or getting lost in the move.
