Why is it so hard to handle type on a path in InDesign?
At present is it clumsy, inarticulate and frequently unresponsive. You often can't select the path the type sits on.
As an example, try putting type on a circle. It is hard to centre and only sits at the top. It's quite common to want type on the bottom of a circle too, especially if you are creating a sort of stamp design.
In the old days of Freehand, which you own, all you had to do was specify centre, type away, and for text on the bottom…2 votes -
Links not accessible
Since the 18.2.1 update, new links show up grayed out and inaccessible for placing or updating or anything when they are usable files.

Toolbars and palettes missing on startup
Since upgrading to Ventura I have no toolbars or palettes – the whole workspace in effect – every time I open InDesign. I can always get them back by switching to a different workspace and back but this happens every time I reopen it.
I have reset preferences and caches, reinstalled the software and removed plugins but nothing works.

Workspace not loading on open in 2023
So, today's thing that's broken is when I boot up indesign for the first time of the day all my panels and toolbars are missing. Selecting my workspace doesn't bring them back, I have to select a different workspace, then select mine to bring them back. Does anyone at adobe actually care about Indesign any more? This app has been riddled with bugs now for around 4 years - stuff that's been flagged up years ago still not fixed, like the graphics streaking across the page causing objects to disappear for example

Scrollbar is hidden upon defocusing the InDesign window
Upon defocusing the InDesing window, the scrollbar disappears.
This issue is creating usability problems - working on 2 monitors, clicking on the other monitor to grab some image or text, then trying to return to InDesign by clicking the scrollbar to scroll to the desired position does not work. Instead, randomly clicking the empty scrollbar randomly scrolls to the left or to the right.
Whoever had the idea to hide the scrollbars had a very bad decision. None of known apps are hiding the scrollbar upon defocus, also, hiding the scrollbar has absolutely no benefits, just drawbacks.

Unable to Underline Numbering in List
I have been facing an issue while trying to underline the numbering in a list.
I am able to underline the text, but not the numbering.
The character style is also not helping me in this case.

problem of distorted previews even though their link is correct
I am on indesign 18.1. Mac OS ventura 13.1.
I have a problem displaying the images once I re-open my document. They appear stretched and refuse to export the pdf. The image links are correct and I have not moved the images from their original location. I have to manually update the links each time for the pdf to work. Can you help me?2 votes -
email QR Codes don't work with MATMSG formatting
InDesign 18.1 on Mac OS 13.2.1 Ventura - Data merge for email QR codes specifically doesn't work, and your documentation is frankly non-existent. Using the MATMSG format doesn't produce a working QR with Data Merge, but using HTML format mailto in Plain Text does. I'm sure I'll run into the wrong version VCARD problem soon, too.
This is consistent using the MATMSG format in a .csv with data Merge. Using the manual entry isn't a workable option due to the quantity of codes being generated.

Add transparency option to paragraph shading
Paragraph shading is super nice, but a lot of people would like to have them a little transparent over images. I know there is a option for overprinting, but this also change the color and is not a real transparency. Without this option it has to be done manually on each element.
So please add this additional feature to the settings. Thx

18.1 tools greyed out except for type tool, cannot edit document
Have searched all options on programme, checked other documents, then computer, finally shutdown and restarted. Still cannot access anything to do with any actions on the tool bar

Sudden Crash
Just had a first - highlighting text in a table to edit it and without any warning the app shut down - Automatic Recovery worked but it has happened three times now. First time I was in View Bleed mode (never been a problem before) and then twice in normal view mode

Don't provide the GPU Performance menu for Windows
It's outrageous that a giant corporation doesn't have support to GPU Performance for windows, when we sign the creative cloud plan doesn't shows that works differently in each operational system. Please, develop this functionality as soon as possible!!

I've restarted indesign, restarted my laptop, reinstalled, and my swatch panel keeps bugging out and looking like this, even when moved to different spots in the ui. Please help! Running version 18.1

je demande seulement que le français soit la langue de correction orthographique, or rien de tout cela. même pour envoyer un message on se retrouve avec une page en patois.

'Use Spacing' *STILL* not working for multiple pages using Page Tool
- Indesign Beta v 18.9
- Turn off Facing pages and deselect 'Allow pages to shuffle'
• create multiple pages and then 'attach' one to another, by clicking and dragging a page alongside another in the pages panel, until you see the grey 'hook' then release it, so they stick together.
• Now select multiple pages using the Page tool and the 'Use Spacing' option appears at the top. Type in a number, say, 50mm
Expected result: All pages move 50mm away from each other, and you should be able to attach as many pages together as required for the task

Generating traceable and dynamic QR codes
Currently, creating codes with InDesign is very simple, but limiting. In fact, it is not possible to trace the code or modify it once it is printed.
To create dynamic QR codes, with modifiable links after printing, it is necessary to rely on third-party websites, such as QR code generator, which however requires a paid subscription.
If instead we simply want to trace a link, we can upload it to BITLY... but always outside Adobe.

Wenn ich nun ein EPS (aus Adobe Illustrator) mit der gleichen Pantone-Farbe importiere, dann springt die Darstellung der Farbe von LAB auf CMYK um und wird dadurch wesentlich schlechter.
Das geschieht auch mit anderen Farben, z.B. ANPA.

dark interface &
Appearance dark theme not matching the settings or OS. I selected dark theme but pasteboard and window top bar light grey. It should be uniform dark.
Other issue is workspaces often does not show up after launching app requiring me to select a workspace other than my custom setting to show up on screen and only then can I select my custom workspace to have it show up. If I select my custom workspace right away after launch when no windows or tools show up nothing happens the screen stays without any panels or tools. Clearly a bug
