Found where the bug might lie. While I was working in 18.5.1 (InDesign 2023) and having the Spoken Content work, on page 4 of my 8 page document it also started to ignore the selected text and began to read the file's name instead. I had been working on it for about 2 hours so that told me there might be a memory issue. I quit InDesign 2023 and shut down the Mac for the evening. But upon relaunch this morning, it was still reading the file's name. At this point I quit InDesign2023 and reset the InD preferences at relaunch. Now it is reading the selected text again. To test this out further, I reset the InDesign2024 preferences and opened a document there - and Spoken Content now works there too. So there's obviously a preferences/memory issue that's shutting down Apple's Spoken Content.

We're happy to announce that the fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign - version 17.2 that is available from Creative Cloud Desktop application.

Please update to this latest InDesign version to get the fix.

Still getting this issue. If I have simple text blocks on the page and try to scroll down, a wash of red fills either a portion of the screen or creates a block. If I zoom out it goes away, but it's majorly annoying and interrupts my work.
Using 18.2.1, Ventura 13.3.3, Spectre monitor fairly new. No issues in other programs.
