Lost all Save, Save As, Undo functionality while working.
To save my work, the only thing to do is to export as an IDML file. Force quitting to recover the file doesn't work. This has been happening to me since InDesign 5.5. I am currently using InDesign CC 2018. There are no particular steps, it happens at random. I can have several files open and it only happens to one file, or sometimes it's more than one file. It happens whether I'm working off of my Desktop or on our server.
As part of the investigation into the cause of this issue, we personally reached out to many of you over email. We have so far heard from only some of you.
Of the responses we have received, the conclusion we’ve come to is:
This issue was intermittent, happened once during the course of work but somehow got resolved and has not happened again. This issue can’t be reproduced now.
Over a period of time, this thread has not thrown any fresh clues on why this issue seems to occur randomly for some and then seems to resolve itself. So we’re closing this thread.
However, even though we’re closing this thread, if you again run into this issue any time on a consistent basis, please report it here on UserVoice (in a new thread) with supporting assets like:
A) a test file,
B) detailed steps to replicate the issue
C) any specific type of content that causes this
D) a screen recording, etc.
E) ID version, OS, etc.
(You can put the testing artifacts at a shareable location and share the link with us, reaching us at sharewithID@adobe.com OR rkiran@adobe.com.
This will help us immensely in determining a proper fix for this issue.
We seek your continued support to help improve InDesign. Let us do it together.

When will this problem be fixed in the GA version of Indesign CC? At random, the save function disappears .... please update Indesign CC with the fix as soon as possible ....

I just purchased InDesign and started having this issue with my first project. Just needed a few more tweaks, and suddenly I couldn't save anymore. Scared to quit without saving, as I'm not positive at what point I last saved. This is ridiculous and totally unacceptable after I literally JUST paid $30 for this program.

I am in the home stretch of a very complex, 65 page InDesign CC 2018 document. Suddenly, I'm unable to save, save-as, save an .idml file. Is there any fix for this? I'm desperate

This prerelease is unavailable and I am experiencing the same problem. Even creating a new document I end up with the same issues.

Same Issue, Save etc. function greyed out, can only export as Idml. Undo, Redo etc. functions all greyed out too.
Wacom Intuos Art, Latest Driver Installed (was using previous driver with Yosemite, didn't work either hence the update.)
MacOS High Sierra 10.13.3 (was in Yosemite, updated as per suggestions in other forums and still no luck.)
CS6
- No not trying to drag-drop from bridge, don't use bridge at all.
- No the file did not come from an older version.Seems to happen when there is a Wacom Tablet Driver Installed.
Updated operating System as suggested in other forums, as it was suggested that the Wacom Drivers were having conflict with CS, seems to have worked for 2 days, now it's happening again! Incredibly frustrating, bought a tablet to make my process more streamlined, not being able to save work certainly throws a spanner in that plan, uninstalling software and putting the tab aside becoming monotonous too. Please advise when these issues have been fixed. Thanks.

This issue just happened to me...ten minutes ago. When is this update going to be released because I want to make sure it doesn't start happening to my coworkers...they are always leary on updating so they *just* updated their iOS to High Sierra and CC 2018...I'm on El Capitan still.
They will stop us from doing updates if it starts happening to them (which I like to stay up to date on myself) -

I had the same problem today, for the first time. Opened a template file I've used MANY times in the past month. However, this was the first time I've set Endnote Options, and I was able to save BEFORE I set Endnote Options. Once set, the Save options are gone.
I am unable to download and install the patch (no admin rights), but I sure hope the patch fixes this. We were planning to use endnotes, but will not be able to, due to this fatal bug.

Same exact problem, except with some files i even lose editing capabilities! I can't even select the objects, let alone save the document... I find myself avoiding to work with in Design and often switching to Illustrator.

i use a Wacom Intros PT S, apparently no updates available.
Mac OS 10.11.6 El Capitan
Works on many settings (printers/mail accounts/servers…too many risks of disfunctioment while very busy
CC2017 : can't update because of others machines that won't be able to use my files - save as idml won't be manageable.
Don't use Bridge but copy paste frequently vectorial object from ai to indd.
Happens on brand new documents. -

Last week, when I had a Wacom tablet, attached it was fine. However, after a complete reset and update (High Sierra) of the work MAC (no more Wacom), it is no longer working. No Save, Undo, Redo, etc.
