Proportional Scaling Using Shift Button Not Working
In the 2017.1 release of InDesign, the ability to hold Shift and scale objects proportionally seems to have disappeared. I know for me this is a major functionality problem that is increasing the time I have to spend on current projects. I've checked support forums and others are encountering this problem, but I haven't yet seen a solution.
Hello All,
Thank you for your patience all this while; we really appreciate your support!
Our investigation suggests that one of common reasons for the problem is that certain software (mostly antivirus and other security applications) and browser extensions happen to enable “Secure Keyboard Entry” on Mac machines due to which some keys such as Shift key in this case do not perform the desired action in InDesign.
For now I request you to follow the below provided KB doc for the quick workaround of the problem.
https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/features-do-not-work-keyboard-keys-mac.html
In the comments section many of the users have confirmed that disabling Webroot SecureAnywhere (a security app) has resolved the issue for them. Please note that, the problem may not be related to a particular software; there could be a different application or antivirus which might be causing the problem by enabling Secure Keyboard Entry on Mac.

Also experiencing the same issue, noticed last couple of days! You don't realise how much you use this until you can't! :( very annoying...

I'm there also - thought I was going crazy! Shift key not working to scale proportionately, not able to select point on a path to edit, it just moves the entire path as one... Hopefully restarting will solve... Adobe, if you have a solution, do tell.

Is there an update on this? I'm laying out a book and not being able to do proportional scaling is a major issue, and slowing the process down, please advise. Thank you.

Same as Ashleigh... came back from holidays and certain "shortcut" buttons not working:
• SHIFT KEY for quick drag proportional scaling,
• OPTION KEY for manual scaling,
• SHIFT KEY for moving objects vertical/horizontal,
• OPTION KEY to quick drag duplicate an object.
Very frustrating and slowing me down!! -

Hello,
My computer was off over the holidays and upon my return, my shift key is not working when trying to scale objects, or when I move objects and hold shift to keep them aligned as I move them up or down... Is there a setting or something that has been turned off? I have run all updates and searched the web for answers and have found nothing so far.
It is greatly affecting my work performance, any help you can provide me with would be great, thank you

I'm from Russia and so most of the the time I use my native language in my layout.
Right after updating to CC2018 I've found out that I can't use the keyboard shortcuts normally!
Now when I type the text in Russian and need to copy-paste, for example, I must switch the language to make 'Cmd+C' and 'Cmd+V' working.
It definitely didn't work this way when I used CC2017.
Please fix this!Mac Mini 2012. OS X 10.11.6
Thanks!

Indesign CC 2017.1
In the past I could move an image/text box while holding shift and move it over in a straight line up or down, now that feature no longer works. Holding shift does nothing. -

I have a version of this problem. It doesn't seem like it is working but when I let go after dragging the image to be larger or smaller, it does snap into proportion. So when clicking+shift and dragging the images do not stay in proportion but end up in proportion.

Hi Ravi,
Just about everything that can be scaled using shift isn't responding--shapes, frames, placed photos, etc. I've also noticed that the shift function that makes lines snap to flat horizontal or straight vertical angles isn't working either. Basically, everything that should respond to that shift function isn't responding at all.

I've noticed this bug, but quitting inDesign and restarting OS fixes for me.

The AltGr+letter shortcuts are used for typing Polish letters and AltGr+N doesn't work. Even if I delete the shortcut from the default shortcut set (New Default Document) I cannot use it to type Polish letter 'ń'.
The same shortcut works fine with all other Adobe applications.
Please keep in mind that there are some keyboard layouts which use special shortcuts for typing special characters and this shoortcuts should not be used in ID. -
