    Hello All,

Thank you for your patience all this while; we really appreciate your support!

Our investigation suggests that one of common reasons for the problem is that certain software (mostly antivirus and other security applications) and browser extensions happen to enable “Secure Keyboard Entry” on Mac machines due to which some keys such as Shift key in this case do not perform the desired action in InDesign.

For now I request you to follow the below provided KB doc for the quick workaround of the problem.
    https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/features-do-not-work-keyboard-keys-mac.html

In the comments section many of the users have confirmed that disabling Webroot SecureAnywhere (a security app) has resolved the issue for them. Please note that, the problem may not be related to a particular software; there could be a different application or antivirus which might be causing the problem by enabling Secure Keyboard Entry on Mac.

    Hello Ravi,

Lucky for me the next day we had our tech guy in who was able to solve my issue. After reading online message boards I discovered it was an issue with some kind of virus software, and although I don’t quite understand the solution, the best I can help you help others is to say he went into my keyboard settings that directly controlled the virus software (there was a specific name of the software everyone was mentioning on the message boards, and the tech guy knew it, but I’d never heard of it) and changed the shift button controls deep in the settings for that specific program. He did it in a matter of minutes. It was very impressive and if he wasn’t here to help me, I don’t think I would have been able to fix it, but I am not gifted with the technical side of design.

I believe it only started after some kind of update with the virus program.

    Hello,

My computer was off over the holidays and upon my return, my shift key is not working when trying to scale objects, or when I move objects and hold shift to keep them aligned as I move them up or down... Is there a setting or something that has been turned off? I have run all updates and searched the web for answers and have found nothing so far.

It is greatly affecting my work performance, any help you can provide me with would be great, thank you
    Ashleigh
