InDesign TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Greg commentedHi,
As Lucie wrote, the problem persists but now it's a bit different. Every operation on text frame (double clicking to edit, using type tool etc.) takes 2 seconds or even more to take control on the keyboard. Now it's almost impossible to type text without looking at the monitor.
Id CC 2018 wasn't fast but 2019 version, even after update, is a disaster.Win10 machine with all updates.

I have the same problem on Win10. It occurs after first use of font tool/panel during Id session. After that it seems to work but font menu is still very laggy. When I restart Id the problem occurs again.
Tried to uninstall almost all local fonts with no luck.Greg supported this idea · -

Hello All,
Thank you for your patience all this while; we really appreciate your support!
Our investigation suggests that one of common reasons for the problem is that certain software (mostly antivirus and other security applications) and browser extensions happen to enable “Secure Keyboard Entry” on Mac machines due to which some keys such as Shift key in this case do not perform the desired action in InDesign.
For now I request you to follow the below provided KB doc for the quick workaround of the problem.
https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/features-do-not-work-keyboard-keys-mac.htmlIn the comments section many of the users have confirmed that disabling Webroot SecureAnywhere (a security app) has resolved the issue for them. Please note that, the problem may not be related to a particular software; there could be a different application or antivirus which might be causing the problem by enabling Secure Keyboard Entry on Mac.

InDesign TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Greg commentedThe AltGr+letter shortcuts are used for typing Polish letters and AltGr+N doesn't work. Even if I delete the shortcut from the default shortcut set (New Default Document) I cannot use it to type Polish letter 'ń'.
The same shortcut works fine with all other Adobe applications.
Please keep in mind that there are some keyboard layouts which use special shortcuts for typing special characters and this shoortcuts should not be used in ID.Greg supported this idea · -
