Linked .Ai path info doesn't match Bridge link info
Since Uservoice for Bridge was shut down, I'm posting here. My InDesign document (latest update installed) correctly shows the path to a linked Illustrator file. In Bridge (latest update installed), the link references the same file through a OneDrive path that does not exist.
I would like to report this to the Bridge team, but I'm not sure how. Or perhaps the InDesign team will know what's going wrong. Getting correct link info from Bridge seemed (at first) like vital capability for complex books with nested links to external files.

Import Fails for User Settings file exported from ID 2024 into Beta
The user settings file exported from ID 2024 is not recognized when I try to import it to Beta.
1 voteWe have explicitly blocked the importing of User Settings from ID2024 to Beta. Refer to https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/export-import-user-settings-indesign.html for more details.

Data merge not working for absolute paths on macOS
With the latest update of 19.4, image paths no longer work for merge documents. I installed the latest update, which went back to 19.3, and have had no issues; therefore, I have isolated the issue with the update. I currently usean Excell file with an image field and the path to the image associated with each record. I have not changed anything in the file but with the new update I get the error message indicating the file is missing.
18 votesThe fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
Kindly update the data source file with the POSIX style path in Macintosh to work with data merge functionality smoothly. Please refer to the helpx https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/data-merge.html to know more about the difference between HFS and Posix style paths.
You can get the actual POSIX path of a file by right-click it in the Finder while holding Option (or right-click, then press Option) > Copy as pathname menu. This can help you explore the correct POSIX paths to ensure you're using them correctly.
Note: Relative path as such /<foldername>/<filename> is no longer supported after the fix, as it considers the starting “/” as an absolute path. Instead, the recommendation is to omit the starting “/” and use <foldername>/<filename> instead or any of the other existing ways to access the…

Missing library links cause repeating error message
When links are in an inaccessible CC Library, instead of "Missing" (red dot in status column) the links are "Waiting" (stopwatch icon in status column).
This also causes repeated errors "This file is already open by another user or another application. This file may be stored on a network server and cannot be opened until the user closes it."
So far, the only path forward is to repeatedly dismiss the error and try to relink the artwork before the error re-appears. This has to be done for each "missing" link.4 votes -
Window with InDesign document goes black with clicks etc. when using 2 screens
I am using InDesign 19.4. on a MacStudio with MacOs Sonoma 14.4.1. 2 screens are connected: Apple Studio Display 27 inch (main screen), to the right BenQ PD2710QC.
When I have an InDesign document open on the main screen (left screen) and the window of the document touches the right and bottom edge of the screen, the window with the document constantly goes black when I perform various actions such as right-clicking or moving an object in the document. When I click again, the screen returns to normal. This problem is terribly annoying.
The only solution so far: The window…

Mouse cursor slow when updating links
When updating links (either individually or all at once), the mouse cursor becomes extremely slow. This slowness happens in all applications, not just Indesign. In other words, if I set the links to update while working on other stuff in other applications, the mouse cursor is still super slow.
Using Windows 11. Don't know where you can see the Indesign version number.

Placed image is partially outside frame
When I place an image and drag a custom size for the placed image, the image is outside of the frame.
Note that this doesn't happen if you simply click when placing, but does happen if you click and drag when placing.
This has just started happening. Usually the image is within the frame.
Video attached.

slowdown
Indesign is slow on opening and closing documents. I have reset preferences, installed the app and reinstalled, disabled plugins...everything I can think of to make it better. It's almost unusable. The forums are no help, I've tried the GPU toggle and their suggestions. It just sits there. This video doesn't show the spinning beachball but I get when opening or closing documents. It has destroyed my workflow and speed. What is there to do?

Bad bug when previewing image area beyond the picture box crop
There’s a terribly bad bug when previewing image cropping. If you click on an image and hold the cursor down, to preview the image area beyond the picture box window, InDesign literally moves the image inside by a few pixels, so, a) it doesn’t accurately show where you HAD the image placed, and b) you always have to Undo Move Item to restore where you had it placed, which makes picture cropping preview completely useless.
A simple fix would be to show a ghost of what is being cropped when you select the image so that it shows the move…

Password protect bug
The new password protect feature worked fine on the 25th April.
However I've noticed a bug on a document I was testing today 27 April. The same document was showing a 'access denied' page though would allow me to see page past page 1.
Page 1 would not load.
The same thing happened on a newly uploaded version of that document.
The document has 16 pages with animation to the first page.
This error happened across safari and chrome browsers.
The document works fine when re-uploaded without password protection.2 votes -
Version 19.4 Persistent error dialog "RM: error creating temporary record definition sheet"
On iOS 13.6.6. Problem began after updating to 19.4.
As soon as I create a new document or open an existing doc, the error dialog above appears, and reappears immediately when dismissed, preventing any further work.
Version 18.5.2 on same machine still functions as normal, but is not not an acceptable long term workaround due to lack of current plugins.
I've already tried deleting /Users/{me}/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version 19.0 folder. Folder was recreated at application launch, as expected, but did not resolve the error.

Request: import of conditions of conditional text when placing an INDD
When placing an INDD in another document, layers of the placed INDD are imported, so content in the placed INDD can be hidden or unhidden. The same doesn't work with conditional text, but the principle is the same. Hide/unhide text, for instance in a table, by switching conditions. Handling this by using layers is possible, but way more effortive.

InDesign 19.4 for MacOS ignores PluginConfig.txt
InDesign 19.4 on MacOS ignores PluginConfig.txt and doesn't load the desired plug-ins on startup.
Steps to reproduce:
- Place a plugin somewhere outside the InDesign app folder.
- Create a PluginConfig.txt that points to this plugin.
- Place the PluginConfig.txt either in the InDesign app folder or the Preferences folder.
- Start InDesign.
- The plugin won't be loaded.
I have checked this on multiple machines and also have confirmation from someone also on the user forums:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/indesign-ignores-pluginconfig-txt/m-p/14578540
The Windows version seems to work correctly.
1 votePlease share the “PluginConfig.txt” for review at santalwa@adobe.com
Try the below workaround and let me know if it works for you -
- Quit InDesign.
- In macOS, go to <Install Dir>\Resources\Cookies\ENABLE_POSIX_PATH.
- Rename ENABLE_POSIX_PATH.
- Launch InDesign.
Thanks and Regards

Photoshop Layers Not Displaying or Exporting Correctly from InDesign 2024
Using InDesign 19.3 and placing (via link) a layered PSD into layout, preferred layer visibility (as spec'd in import options) is failing.
Layer is part of a Group in Photoshop; part of the group is visible, part isn't (when viewed in InDesign).
It isn't just a preview issue, because if I export a PDF from ID, the layers aren't visible in the PDF either.
For now, my workaround is to use an earlier (2023) version of InDesign. The layers in my linked PSD preview and export correctly using the earlier version.
I've tried recreating the missing elements (rules) in Photoshop…

In welcher…1 vote -
Publish Online does not zoom in/out or change orientation properly on mobile
I am using InDesign 19.3, and have been using Publish Online to create dozens of magazines in digital format. I have just realized, however, that when viewing them on phones (either Apple or Android), the orientation switches are klunky and zooming in/out does not work very well. We do have the code embedded in a simple frame so that it can be branded with our logo. That should not make a difference, however. This problem seems to go far back in the forums and there have been no improvements or updates over time. Is there anything in the pipeline to…

Can't add paragraph- or charactar styles to CC library
Whenever i add a pargraph- or character styles to a CC library it simply wont add it. It says that the character - or paragraph style is not supported in Indesign. This happens with new and old libraries, character- and paragraph styles just dissapeared in older libraries. This makes the libraries unworkable.
Adobe indesign 18.5
To reproduce:
- add a character - or paragraph style to the library
- watch it disappear from the libraryexpected result:
- the character- or paragraph is added to the library, so it can happily be used for the book and all it's chapters…1 vote -
Text selecting freeses program
Today I updated InDesing to 19.4 It is no longer possible to work - every time you mark the text block, the clock starts spinning and everything hangs. ****, why publish an update without testing it well and thus hinder our work. I was forced to install version 19.3 back.

On the start page, the recent items are showing up with multiple file names displaying over the top of one another
When I open InDesign and the Start page appears, the first line of recent items show the image of the file but the description underneath shows several layers of file names on top of each other.
