2. Cannot see text

   When using the Text tool, text is only visible when typing and disappears afterwards. I only know text is present through highlighting the text, however still the text is not visible (and I can only highlight text when it is off of the page). I checked layers and updated the application. All fonts are updated. I tried to change the font size, colour and checked through the effects.

   Error states: Overset text (1), although I already tried to adjust the size of the box and text as well as create a new text box.

   Edit: I can't see imported material either (images are invisible however detected). I have tried changing Display/GPU performance and updating the software; this did not work.

3. copy something with a shadow from one document moves the shadows randomly

   in the version 21.0 of Indesign when you copy something with a shadow from one document into another and moves it the shadows move to random positions. Workaround: You need to select them manually deactivate and activate them to get them back at the right position.

   Indesign-Dateien die älter als 2 Jahre sind lassen sich nicht direkt von einem externen Firmen-Server öffnen. Sie müssen immer erst vom Firmen-Server auf die lokale Festplatte kopiert werden, von dort geöffnet und dann auf dem Firmen-Server überspeichert werden. Ein nerviger Workaround.

5. Printing doubled sided without computer settings being changed

   Mac computer using InDesign 2024 version 19.5.5 has select documents print double sided when single sided is preferred. Computer settings for single sided printing was check and was set for single sided. Printer was serviced to make sure it was not a driver issue and driver was up to date and printing correctly on other jobs.

6. palettes stay closed

   Our entire department recently did the newest update to Adobe InDesign (21.0)
   Steps to reproduce the issues: Close document and open another one

   Every single time I open a new file (which is many times per day) the pallets do not pop open. The workspace still looks like it should and when I click on a pallet to use it, it highlights like it would if it was popped open for use but nothing happens.

   Expected result: Pallets pop open so I can make changes on my file
   Actual result: Pallets highlight like they will open but actually stay closed and do nothing

   The only way I have found to make this work is to reset the workspace (whether it's one you have saved as your own or just using a default). EVERY. SINGLE. TIMEEE PLEASE FIX THIS

7. Workspace resets every time I open (InDesign 2026)

   On the new InDesign (v21.0) all of my workspaces have been reset and aren't saving properly every time I open a new document. I even set up my docked tabs and tab groups and saved them to a NEW workspace within a fresh 2026 file, and it reset to a default state next time it's opened. It seems to ignore all of the tools I've chosen to remove from their tab groups and opens with all of the default tools within those tab groups.

   The screenshot with all of the icons is what all of my workspaces revert to upon opening InDesign 2026, while the other screenshot is what I've saved my workspace to include.

   On the new InDesign (v21.0) all of my workspaces have been reset and aren't saving properly every time I open a new document. 8. placing illustrator images

   One of my students was having an issue when placing a native AI file inside InDesign 21.0 that the graphics became distorted. His image was not very complex. He had a some columns and rows of circles that display and print in a totally different way then they are in the Illustrator file, and some white shapes he had on top of a solid color area disappeared. Everything is fine in Indesign when it is first placed, but if he goes back into Illustrator makes a change and then updates the modified link, that is when the change occurs. The only work around we found was saving the Illustrator file as an older version of Illustrator and then using that file in InDesign. I've never seen anything like this.

9. imported mp4 showing as lines and not allowing poster frame

   When importing an MP4 the frame no longer shows the first frame image, it shows diagonal blue lines. A poster frame can also no longer be set.

   I've tried opening an old Indesign file that had an MP4 with a poster frame set and reimport the exact same MP4 next to it and it seems that the original MP4 works as expected, however the newly imported version of the same file doesn't show an image of the video and a poster frame cannot be set.

   Please find an example screenshot of this uploaded, showing the original MP4 working as expected (on the right, imported before the current version of InDesign), and the same file imported in the same way showing only a box with diagonal lines and no ability to set a poster frame (on the left of the uploaded screenshot).

   The version of InDesign is 21.0.

10. Tagged PDF: contoured text twice in the tagged pdf

    If you give a text a contour and export it as tagged pdf, all glyphs with a contour appear twice in the tags tree.
    The text should only appear once.

    This happens with all InDesign version till 2026 (21).

11. Shadow

    ID 2026, 21.0 x 64:
    When I move a field/object, the drop shadow is partly not moved to the same place. It appears in different places. See screenshot attached. The text field is grouped, the QR code is not.

13. Adobe InDesign 2026 doesn't play well with 2025

    It's absolutely ridiculous to me that the 2025 version and 2026 version are incompatible with each other. I can't open old files easily with the new software. I can't drag and drop items from an older file to a new file. The functionality is absolutely awful. Do better.

14. InDesign v 21.0 packaging bug hung up on idml file

    I created a document in the previous version of InDesign (v 20.5.1) and recently converted it to the new version to test things out. I was unable to package the design files from this file, it always seemed to get stuck on creating pdf and idml file and would completely freeze the program. It's definitely creating the files because the folder is there, but the idml file is only 1kb in size, so it's not being created properly. I converted the file back to the previous version and packaged and it did it with zero issues. Something different is happening with this new version.

16. Clicking icons (sometimes) does not open the palette

    Version: Indesign 21.0
    Expected result: clicking the icon opens the palette
    Actual result: the palette does not open, even though the icon has a "clicked" appearance
    Steps to reproduce: I haven't figured out, it seems to happen randomly... but restarting the program fixes it

    Note:
    The problem affects the entire column of icons shown in the screenshot, not just the clicked one.

17. Review links broke after InDesign updated to version 21

    After sending an InDesign document out for review and others made comments, InDesign updated to version 21. Now the links are broke and the comments in the review are inaccessible.

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2026(v21.0.1.006). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application, click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

20. ID2026 Export Issues

    Exporting PDFs and IDML files in ID2026 is taking far longer than it does to do the same export in 2025, and I'm losing almost all of the hyperlinks on parent pages when exporting to IDML.
