2. InDesign Workspace Keeps Disappearing

   Since the latest update of InDesign every time I leave the program and then come back my side panel workspace goes away. I have to select a different workspace and then reselect my saved space to get my setup to show up.

3. Blank EPUB Interactivity Panel in InDesign 16.3.2 on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) running OS 10.15.7 Catalina.

   I have uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign. I've installed it again deleting all old prefs. I've restarted reinstalled software and dumped prefs on start up holding down Shift/Ctrl/ALT/Cmd keys, and 'Yes' clicked when asked if I want to delete preferences file. I am at my wits end with this issue.

4. [INDD 2020 and 2021] Placed SVG InDesign ignores code dominant-baseline="hanging"

   It seems that the SVG import filter ignores code:

   when rendering text in the placed SVG graphic.

5. [INDD 2020 and 2021] Document fonts folder does not work with fonts for placed SVGs

   Provide a font file with the Document fonts folder for a placed SVG graphic where the font is not embedded.
   RESULT: InDesign will not use the font for rendering text with the placed SVG graphic.

   ALSO: Even if the font is installed for ALL USERS in the system on Windows 10 InDesign will not package the font that is needed with the placed SVG graphic.

   One cannot be sure what fonts are needed with placed SVG graphics. When InDesign documents are saved, closed and re-opened, Preflight and Type > Find Fonts… will not show them.

   The only check you can do:
   Export the document to IDML. Open the IDML file as document.
   Then Preflight will show a needed font inside a placed SVG graphic and Preflight could flag it if it is missing.

   Well: The missing font installed in the Documents fonts folder could even block InDesign to access the same font that is installed for all users with:
   C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\

   To solve the issue you have to do THREE things:
   [1] Move the needed font for the placed SVG file out of the Document fonts folder
   [2] Install the font for ALL USERS
   [3] Quit and restart InDesign, only then open the document again. Otherwise you get a situation where the font could show as missing if it used in a text frame elsewhere in the document like [Lemon], but is rendered correctly in a text frame. And still rendered substituted with Arial in the placed SVG graphic. See screenshot: "NoAccessToFont-EvenWhenInstalledFor-AllUsers.JPG" in my test files one can download from my Dropbox account:

6. [INDD 2020 and 2021] Missing font in placed SVG is not detected by Preflight or Type > Find Fonts…

   [ 2020 ][ 2021 ] A missing font in a placed SVG does not show

   If you open a document with a placed SVG where a font is not embedded the missing font does not show with:
   [1] Type > Find Fonts…
   [2] Preflight

   If you export that InDesign document to IDML and open the IDML file with InDesign the missing font is showing as missing in Preflight and Type > Find Fonts… .
   As soon as you save the IDML as InDesign document, close and open it again, the missing font is not detected again. Neither with Preflight nore with Type > Find Fonts…

   FWIW: The only reliable way to make that missing font available is to install it for All Users in Windows 10.
   What does NOT work at all:
   Provide the font in a Document fonts folder
   What does NOT work reliably:
   Provide the font in the Application > Fonts folder.
   Install the font for a particular user only.

   IMPORTANT NOTE:

7. FontExplorer Error

   Hi -

   Everything's been working great for months, but after updating to InDesign 16.3.2 recently, I started getting the error message attached and am not sure why. It's also functioning fine in my other Adobe apps.

   "Could not start FontExplorer X Pro because it could not be found or the license file is missing"

   FEX 7.2.6 (build 20687)
   InDesign plugin 3.5.6
   InDesign 16.3.2
   macOS 10.15.7 (19H1323)

   I'm not entirely sure if it's an InDesign or FEX issue, but have reported the issue to Monotype as well.

8. libraries

   ******* Adobe, I'm still getting this CC libraries pane in InDesign being super zoomed-in... it comes and goes but I always have to restart InDesign to correct it... only to have it return to plague me constantly.

   I've spent over 2 hours with Adobe Support with no solution, and I've uninstalled/reinstalled multiple versions (including the latest) many times.

   Nothing works!

   This has been like this since late 2020! ADOBE CAN YOU PLEASE FIX YOUR SOFTWARE?!?!?!?!?

10. Share for review comments in master page

    Currently working on a 36 page magazine and noticed that some 'Share for review' comments end up on the Master Page in InDesign. When I view the comments online, I see them grouped on the right spread, but if I click the comment to see where it actually is pinned, nothing shows on the pages. Guess this is a bug?

11. page number

    Dear Adobe Team,

    InDesign 16.3.2 seems to have an issue showing previous and next page numbers.

    I draw a textbox > special characters menu > mark > previous/next page number > page number is included. Except it only shows the current page number.

    It would be nice know if I made a mistake or if this is a bug.

12. Style Mapping to [Basic Paragraph] doesn’t work with remembered settings or presets

    When you place (import) a Word document into InDesign, you can choose to use Style Mapping to map the paragraph and character styles in Word to their equivalents in your InDesign document. When you use this feature for the first time in a document, the mappings get stored somewhere and are remembered for any subsequent imports you perform in the same document; you can also choose to save your import settings, including Style Mappings, as a preset to use freely in any document.

    If you map any Word styles to the default [Basic Paragraph] style in InDesign, it works as expected the first time (when you actively select [Basic Paragraph] from the dropdown menu). But if you do another import where InDesign reads the Style Mappings from a file – either by using the cached Style Mappings that InDesign has remembered from last time, or by using a saved preset – any style that is mapped to [Basic Paragraph] will not work properly. Instead of mapping the Word style to the existing, built-in [Basic Paragraph], what happens is that a second paragraph style is created with the name [Basic Paragraph], and with properties (font, size, etc.) matching the formatting of the Word style, rather than the built-in [Basic Paragraph] style. This should not even be possible, since you end up with two styles that have the exact same name, but it happens nonetheless (see screenshot).

    In order to avoid this, you have to go into Style Mappings and re-select all instances of [Basic Paragraph] manually. Notably, when you open the Style Mappings window, the mappings all look correct, but when you click on [Basic Paragraph], the dropdown menu doesn’t open like it does normally – the text “[Basic Paragraph]” just disappears and the selection field becomes empty. You then have to click a second time for the dropdown menu to open.

    This bug has been present for several years (unsure how long). It is present in both Windows and Mac versions of InDesign.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Create a Word document and type some text in any paragraph style (the default “Normal” will do)
    2. Create an InDesign document and place the Word file; make sure “Show Import Options” is selected
    3. In the Microsoft Word Import Options window, select “Customise Style Import” and click on “Style Mapping”, then map the style used in the Word document to [Basic Paragraph]; click OK twice and click somewhere in the document to import the text
    4. Place the Word file again in the same way, using the cached Style Mappings which InDesign automatically remembers without changing anything (you can even deselect “Show Import Options” and skip that part entirely)

    Actual Result:
    After the second import, your document has two paragraph styles, both named “[Basic Paragraph]”, see screenshot. One is the built-in default style; the other is an erroneously created doublet and has the little ‘arrow-into-a-box’ icon to show that it is an imported/auto-created style. The text imported the first time is styled with the built-in [Basic Paragraph] style; the text imported the second time is styled with the imported ‘parasitic’ [Basic Paragraph] style.

    Expected Result:
    After the second import, there is only one paragraph style in the document, the built-in [Basic Paragraph] style. All the text in the document, both that imported in the first import and that imported in the second import, is styled with this built-in [Basic Paragraph].

    Any Workarounds:
    Every time you place a Word file, always enter the Style Mapping window and manually reselect [Basic Paragraph] from the dropdown menu for all styles that map to this style. Alternatively, after importing the file, delete the ‘fake’ [Basic Paragraph] style and when asked what to do with the text, select the real [Basic Paragraph] style to replace it.

    When you place (import) a Word document into InDesign, you can choose to use Style Mapping to map the paragraph and character styles in Word to their equivalents in your InDesign document. 15. After changing workspace the extension panels become huge

    After changing workspace the extensions panels contents become huge. Clicking on anything in the panel does not work. Turning the panel off and on, changing workspace several times does not help. Only restarting the application makes the panel the standard size (zoom). Today I updated the application to the latest version, but the previous version also had the problem.

    This is terribly annoying because I have to turn indesign off and on dozens of times during the day.

16. On launching indesign by opening a file, Indesign loses all its tools until 15 seconds after an action

    Recent development in INDD 16.3 (2021)
    INDD opens fine and from the open screen recent files or new files open fine.
    But when launching indesign by clicking on a file, it opens without any tools available.
    tool windows appear, later after something is done like selecting a workspace
    running under win10
    triple 4k monitor setup
    have tried uninstall reinstall - that failed.
