1. Layout adjust badly deforms vector graphics

   Vector images pasted from Illustrator (without any raster effect added) become badly deformed when using Layout Adjust. Parts of the image may become bloated, extended, compressed, text is deformed, rectangles become squares; circles, ovals, parts shift, etc. In short, a total mess

2. Cannot open 10 year old file using InDesign

   I wanted to complain about the fact that I cannot open an ID-file created in 2011 using an 2021, just updated program (16.1-version), even though I need to pay for it a lot. I am working as a volunteer for a non profit organisation that operates worldwide. I am translating materials. Our organisation is small so it takes time to do the translations. How dare you change the systems so that I have less than 10 years time to benefit from the files that others in Europe have created. I think this is pathetic and greedy. Now I need to take time to recreate the template for myself that I could have got ready from our central office. This is so stupid and wrong. And by the way, it did not help to save the file as a idml-file and open it again. Why is it that updating programs always causes so much extra work for your customers? So annoying and frustrating.

3. ID File Finder windows always revert back to minimal size after each use

   All windows in the File menu that access the Finder (Save As, Export, Place, etc) always revert back to their minimal size after using them once instead of keeping last used size. Always need to resize the window to see more items in my destination folder.

4. Undo reverts to last save

   I'm using InDesign 2021 version 16.1, macOS version. Recently (maybe since the last update) it lost the regular undo ability. Instead of undoing by steps, it undoes all steps since the last save.

   It is similar to the issue reported with InDesign 2020 (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38991835-undo-not-working-properly-in-indesign-2020), but the bug persists in the current version even though it is reported as 'Fixed' in that thread.

   This happens every time when using Undo (Command-Z). It reverts to the last saved state. In the case that a document has been saved multiple times, it appears each press of Undo goes back to the previous save. (So if you have saved a document 3 times, you have 3 undo states, even though there may be 15 or 40 or 100 changes.) This happens even with a blank, newly created document.

   I am also experiencing lots of crashes (seemingly random, even when not interacting with the app), which is also new. But this thread is about the undo bug.

5. Making edits in Share for Review is painstakingly SLLLLOOOOWWWWWWW!

   When I click "Resolved", it seems to me that syncing to web might be making it slow. Maybe don't update to web until you're done making your edits. I'm working on a 500-page book. Everything about InDesign for this book is tremendous. Share for Review is by far the weakest link.

6. indesign 16.2 workspace frame unresponsive stuck in place

   indesign frame workspace won't move, won't grab, red close button unresponsive & won't close ... so many bugs regarding the panels and frames!!!!!

7. index bug

   Hi, I've got a large book which I'm indexing. I need to index our product codes alongside indexing normal reference - two examples are PBR030SETK and PBR30SETK. When I reference both of these (separately) the index automatically adjusts the second reference to match the previously indexed reference eg if I tag PBR030SETK that works fine, but then when I tag PBR30SETK it adjusts the reference to be PBR030SETK, but they should be appearing as two separate references. I typically tag product codes with a $ first, but it has the same glitch whether the dollar sign is tagged in the index or not. I have tested this in a blank document and get the same error. This didn't use to happen! Currently using Indesign v 16.2.1 - same issue appeared in all of version 16.X.X so far, and also is a problem in ID v14.0.3

8. Crashed dialog windows

   Steps to reproduce: First time launch, opened file and didnt dismiss tour window, then opened second file with missing font
    
   Result: both the tour window and the missing font window became stuck open with no way to dismiss either

   Expected: To be able to clear one, then the other
    
   System info
       Application: InDesign v16.3.0.5
       OS: macOS v11.2.3, RAM: 16.00 GB, CPUs (logical): 8

9. Save/Save as corrupts file

   InDesign 2021, running on Mac OS 10.14.6, on a iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019)

   I recently "upgraded" my version of InDesign to the latest 2021 version. I thought, why not, new features, upgraded stability.

   Or so I thought....

   I started working on a document, a newsletter, that I retrieved from our archive as it is a quarterly magazine. I opened the file and proceeded to start working on it. Did a couple of pages and thought I'd better save it.

   Command+s, message pops up saying this file is damaged and/or corrupt, save it as something else. Which I did, and so it came up with another warning saying, "this file is damaged and will be recovered".

   Ok, so I saved a recovery file, tried to open that, then I got hit with a InDesign serious error warning and will be shut down.

   Tried again a few times and went through the same process. So then I thought it may be the preferences, So I launched the application holding down shift+option+command and it seemed to work. I managed to actually save a document without any corruption. Great!

   I thought I'd sorted it, now, tried to work on my document again and its doing the same thing.

   Got sick of my time being wasted.

   Uninstalled

   Re-installed the previous InDesign and it seems to be fine now.

   I installed the latest version as it boasted "upgraded stability" This is very much so, not the case.

11. share for review is not working consistently

    If I try updating a share for review link the share for review panel freezes as shown in the attached image and nothing happens.
    I have to close and reopen the indesign file for the Share for Review to update the link, but it only works once or twice, before it begins to freeze again.

    This issue was fixed in InDesign v15.1.2 and later.

    Please update to the latest available versions and see if the issue(s) you were facing earlier has got resolved.

    Remember to check how you are signed into your CC account and if need be, sign out and sign in again. Since Share for Review is a service and dependent on your login to your Adobe ID account, it is important that CCD app is working well with your credentials.

12. W key doesn't work in 16.1 or 16.2.1 on Windows 10

    Title says it all. I deleted preferences and restarted the computer, and W just doesn't work to switch the screen mode. I installed 16.0 and W works fine there.

13. Drop down menu

14. Try to export a small file size pdf but get error message everytime

    The previous InDesign document exported to a pdf no problem but for some reason next updated version will not! INFURIATING...I'm on a magazine deadline too!!!

15. InDesign M1 Expired

    Hi,

    Just downloaded (2021-06-01) the M1 version and ... seems 'expired'.

    I've have 'repaired' CreativeCloud, logged out, removed the InDesign M1 version then reinstalled it but I always get the 16.3.0.5 version.

    I've found a post re this expiration which told about the 16.3.0.14 but where can I get it ?

16. automatic resizing of text frames doesn't work properly with text variables

    I have a text frame containing just a single text-variable. The text frame is set to horizontal size adjustment. If the varibale is shorter than the text frame then the frame is resized properly. If the variable is longer the text is being squeezed together. The frame stays as big as it was before.

17. Apple M1 Mac mini. Big Sur, InDesign CC 2021, tables are SLOW

    I've created a 6 column, 355 row table. No fill, default black stroke. I've created this same table, from the same data 100 times on my 2015 imac, running InDesign 2017 thru 2020. High Sierra was the highest MacOS on previous computer
    When I copy a word or phrase (100 or fewer characters) and paste it into another cell, it is showing the thinking beachball for 15 seconds. I'm simply double clicking on 5 characters to copy, then clicking into another table cell to paste the word. Everything that I had previously completed using tables in previous versions was quick. The 2021 version running on Big Sur and the M1 chip is painfully slow.

18. iCloud drive

    inDesign thinks links are gone when files are being stored in iCloud Drive (even though the cloud version is still in the same folder on my computer). Please allow inDesign to download linked files in iCloud Drive automatically so I don't have to download and relink manually.

19. Montserrat Font Constantly trying to load in InDesign

    Whenever I open an InDesign file the background task starts up and it is Montserrat Bold trying to load. This occurs no matter what file I have open and whether or not the file uses the font being loaded.

20. PDF Files Not Exporting

    When I try to export any file in InDesign to a PDF of any type or size nothing happens. No error messages pop up and nothing happens. My background tasks say export failed but no indication why. Also there are no corrupted files, disconnected links or errors in my document and it has been exported before.
