1. Continuous issues with 21.1 on Windows 11 - Won't Open/Crashing

   Since updating to 21.1 (2026), I have to repair the Visual C++ Redistributables, restart, and then reset preferences with Shift+Ctrl+Alt just to get InDesign to open. Error OXC0000142. I have done this numerous times, and each week, I have to do it again.

   It also has crashed my (and others on our team) computers which makes them boot into the BIOS to a Support Repair screen.

   21.1 is near unusable at this point.

2. Cannot place text in columns or flow text

   I try to place my manuscript from a Google doc and tried Word doc, but it does not put the text in the columns or flow it. It has created more pages but it put the text only at left pages or not at all. I DO WANT the text like in my A-master with two columns to flow in these columns. The shift-click does not work. I do not get a snake arrow... The settings for flow text is on. I have chosen primary text frames...I am a newby but I can´t get any support.

3. Documents appear blank after waking computer from sleep

   Anytime I leave documents open, and my computer goes to sleep (even display sleep), nothing is viewable until I close the file and reopen it. I had this problem previously, and in typical Adobe fashion it stopped and has recently come back. Incredibly annoying, and happens every time when documents are left open and the laptop goes to sleep. Seems to mostly happen when connected to a 2nd monitor.

4. ドキュメントを開こうとしたらアラートが出て開かない

   macOS Sequoia Ver15.6 です。

   CC2022を起動してドキュメントを開こうとしたらアラートが出て開けません。
   アラートは「モーダルダイアログまたは警告がアクティブなために、要求された操作を処理できません」です。
   複数マシンがあるのですが、全て同じ結果でした。
   Yahoo知恵袋に「ネットを切ったら起動した」という記述があったので試したところ、起動はしました。
   InDesinの作業はできるのですが、ネットワークが使えないと、さまざまな支障が出てくるので、
   ネットを切らずに起動できるようにしたいのです。
   InDesignのバージョンは2022、2023、2024、2025を試しましたが、全て同じでした。
   マシンの再起動も試しました。
   OSの設定（セキュリティなど）諸々試しましたが、変化なしでした。
   恐らく、起動時のAdobeの認証他の動作に問題がある気がします。
   検証と改善を求めます。

5. Copying/cutting a table causes InDesign 2026 to crash

   Cutting and pasting tables causes InDesign to crash. This is especially true if there are any interactive elements in the table. You will receive crash reports every single time it crashes while I finish my work.

6. Crashes while editing cross-references

   1. InDesign 21.0
   2. Select cross-reference in text (see screenshot)
   3. Double-click name of cross-reference in the panel to edit
   4. Entire program freezes and has to be force quit (waited for about 20 min.)

   This happens with a couple of cross-references again and again. Some other cross-references work as they should.
   Document uses >500 Cross-references on several layers

7. Selecting placed file no longer selects that file in the Links window.

   In InDesign 2025 and earlier, selecting a placed file (such as a placed Photoshop background) used to select and highlight that file in the Links window. In ID 2026, it no longer does that. This was an invaluable feature for those of us that have hundreds of linked files and need to use the Edit In function. Can you please bring back the feature.

8. items on parent page moving

   Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: 20.5 x64 on Windows 10
   Steps to reproduce the issues: Right click in the pages panel, select "Insert Pages," and select one of three parent pages.
   
   Expected result: Primary text frame should be in the same location on the newly created page as it is on the parent page.
   Actual result: Primary text frame is in a different location on the newly created page. If I reapply the parent page to that newly created page, the text frame moves to the correct location. (I have an object style applied to the primary text frame).

9. unable to open any version of indesign, illustrator, photoshop or lightroom

   When attempting to open lightroom, indesign, illustrator, or photoshop on versions after 20.2 I am unable to without it either crashing or attempting to open. I was told by a service agent to just keep the old version till they fix it but it has been three months since this problem arose, and it is still not fixed. On top of this the older versions are running slower, and "help" pop ups have been popping up on my indesign and I am not able to close them.

   I have used adobe creative cloud suite for almost 8 years and have never had problems till now. I am very disappointed and hope they are able to fix this soon.

10. Workspace

    In the latest version of InDesign (2026 / 21.1), my custom workspaces do not work properly.
    I have always manually created 2 workspaces based on my most used tools in all previous versions of ID. However in the latest relaese, whenever I start the program or when I reset my workspace it loads certain panels which are not open when I save the workspace. Most notibly the History, Gradient and CC Libraries panels keep coming back.

12. Use of Paragraph Rules results in untagged PDF path elements

    Action: Apply Paragraph Rule

    Expected Result: Rules are tagged as artifacts when exporting to PDF

    Actual Result: The resulting path gets included in tagging, but is not tagged as an artifact. This results in errors when auditing for WCAG 2.1 compliance.

13. Indesign não consegue importar determinados objetos de um arquivo do Illustrator ou em PDF.

    Ao importamos com link ativado um arquivo do Illustrator, algumas camadas somem. Percebo que o erro ocorre de forma mais consistente com fotografias. Às vezes, alguns objetos coloridos mais complexos, como shapes com gradiente ou marcas muito coloridas, são importadas com erro ou simplesmente não aparecem.
    Exportei em PDF e o erro persiste. O que me faz acreditar que o erro esteja no módulo de importação com compatibilidade PDF.

    Ao importar em .jpg, vem normalmente, mas isso gera mais tempo de trabalho e tenho que importar todas as paginas novamente.

    Indesign: v21.1
    Illustrator: beta v30.3 (same occurs on 30.1 normal version).

14. GPU Accelerated Preview Issues on Windows 11

    InDesign 2025 & 2026 (v21.0 & v20.5.1)
    PC running Windows 11 Pro
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 16-Core Processor
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
    Display: ASUS ProArt PA279CRV @3840x2160
    RAM: 64GB DDR5 @6000 MT/s
    Storage: Samsung SSD 9100 PRO 2TB

    There are mainly 3 issues, that have not improved with the new version:

    1. Animated zoom is broken; it's laggy, and does not zoom in on the actual point of focus where you click with your cursor, making it worse and slower to use than CPU Preview's regular zoom, and in many cases it literally zooms you in on a point outside the artboard and out of your page. The same issue was described in an older bug and was marked as "fixed" when in fact it wasn't.     2. Panning/using the hand tool while zoomed in on a page containing pictures, with "Display Performance" set to "High Quality Display", with GPU Accelerated Preview is slow and causes massive stutters compared to CPU Preview, its stuttering is very irregular it ends up causing eye strain and headaches after long use. The issue is not present with "Typical Display", but at that stage the performance is the same as CPU Preview so makes you wonder what's the point.

    3. When working on a text layout and adjusting the flow of the text, when the end of the text moves from the last page to the page before, GPU Preview sometimes keeps a ghost of the last page containing text, even though the page before is now showing the updated content. CPU Preview shows it correctly. It can only be fixed by entering some new text into the original "last" page forcing it to refresh the preview.

    The first two issues are constant and are the most critical, as they make InDesign quite frustrating to use, and make GPU acceleration completely useless.

    I couldn't add a video of #3 as the content of the pages was confidential, but will try to take a video when it happens again on a different document.

15. graphic frame anchor proxy not visible

    Graphic frame does not include an anchor proxy symbol (unanchored) or a small blue dot (anchored). Screen mode is normal, show hidden characters is enabled, frame is not on a master page.

16. Change language

    Hi
    I have installed InDesign version 21.1 x64 for Windows with norwegian menus. I try to change menus from norwegian to english, but it does not work. I uninstalled InDesign and went to Creative Cloud Desktop -Apps. - Preferences - and changed the language to english and reinstalled InDesign. The menus are still in Norwegian. Why does that happen? Will you please give me an answer.

17. Lenteur extrême indesign 2026

    Bonjour,
    depuis environ 1 semaine (dernière mise à jour 21.1 x64 d'InDesign sur PC), chaque lettre ajoutée à un document dans InDesign 2026 met presque 10 secondes avant d'apparaître et que je puisse agir de nouveau sur mon document. Même chose pour sélectionner un mot ou pour effectuer la moindre action dans un texte en cours d'édition. seule le curseur bouge normalement, mais il disparaît tant que l'action en cours n'a pas été réalisée.
    J'ai désinstallé et réinstallé InDesign en supprimant les préférences. rien n'a changé.
    J'ai réinitialisé les préférences et rien n'a changé.
    Mon système est très récent :
    - Processeur : AMD Ryzen 7 7700 8-Core Processor (3.80 GHz)
    - Mémoire RAM installée : 32,0 Go (31,1 Go utilisable)
    - Système d’exploitation 64 bits, processeur x64
    - Windows 11 Famille - Version 25H2 - Installé le ‎11/‎07/‎2025
    Build du système d’exploitation 26200.7623
    Carte graphique : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050

    C'est une panne critique pour moi car en tant qu'éditeur, je ne peux plus travailler correctement ni rapidement sur les livres en cours alors que tout allait bien avec ces mêmes dossiers il n'y a que quelques jours.
    Merci de me donner une solution qui rétablisse le fonctionnement normal d'InDesign.

18. Table of Contents running heads

    The Table of Contents should have an option to include just the running head portion of a paragraph, often in a bold style in my documents. Otherwise one has to manually strip out all the text that follows after a running head in the Table of Contents.

19. BUG: InDesign 2025–2026 forces pasted Illustrator vectors to embedded EPS

    Description:
    InDesign 2025–2026 frequently forces pasted Illustrator vector artwork to be placed as embedded EPS, even when the artwork is extremely simple (few paths, no effects, no transparency).

    When pasting from Illustrator, the following warning appears:
    “This command would create a large number of page items and would severely degrade performance. Data will be placed as embedded EPS.”

    After confirming the warning, the pasted object is no longer editable:
    - Ungroup is unavailable
    - Individual vector paths cannot be selected
    - Fill and stroke cannot be edited
    - The object cannot be used as an image frame

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Create a simple vector object in Adobe Illustrator (2–3 shapes, no effects).
    2. Copy the object.
    3. Paste into InDesign 2025 or 2026.
    4. The performance warning appears and the object is embedded as EPS.

    Expected Result:
    The pasted artwork should be converted into native, editable InDesign vector paths, as in earlier InDesign versions.

    Actual Result:
    InDesign forces the artwork to be placed as embedded EPS, making it non-editable.

    Additional Notes:
    - Occurs even when “Prefer PDF When Pasting” is disabled.
    - Occurs even when “Copy PDF to Clipboard” is enabled.
    - Clipboard settings are correctly configured.
    - The same artwork pastes correctly as editable vectors in earlier InDesign versions.

    This behavior worked correctly in earlier versions of InDesign and appears to be a regression.

20. InDesign hangs constantly during normal editing with no CPU spike, on very fast win. 11 laptop with plenty of memory and drive space.

    When using InDesign normally (editing text, copying, pasting, rearranging objects, etc.). I am not saving, exporting, or anything, CPU does not spike, there is plenty of memory and disk space, it is a new high end laptop, it is plugged in, there are no power save features on.

    This didn't happen on my older win 10 machine and in older versions of InDesign.

    This SEVERELY interrupts workflows as it happens at least once every 15 min or so if not more.
