1. [ID-4274638]Text disappears intermittently while Typing

   I am using InDesign 2026 on a PC and text disappears intermittently as I'm typing. I don't know exactly what triggers it. It reappears of if scroll up or down but it annoying all the same. Can it be fixed?

4. RTL Text Bugs Despite "Fixed" Notification

   InDesign 20.3.1.073

   Dear Adobe InDesign Development Team,
   We appreciate your efforts in addressing the RTL text issues introduced with the HarfBuzz engine in InDesign 19 (2024) and the improvements made through version 20.3.1.073.
   However, we must bring to your urgent attention that, contrary to your recent "Fixed" notification, several critical bugs remain unresolved, several critical bugs remain unresolved, impacting right-to-left (RTL) workflows (Hebrew & Arabic).

   Critical Bug:

   • #1: Disappearing Punctuation/Text in PDF Export with Drop Cap and Line Break When a drop cap is applied )in justified RTL text( followed by punctuation and a line break, the punctuation marks (and sometimes adjacent text) completely disappear in the exported PDF, leaving only white space.    Additional Unresolved Bugs:

   • 2: Reversed Cursor Navigation with Modifier Keys
     When navigating RTL text using arrow keys with Shift (to select text) or Command/Control (to skip words), the cursor moves in the opposite direction of the arrow pressed (e.g., right arrow selects text to the left). Regular arrow navigation (without modifiers) works correctly. This occurs in “Visual” cursor movement mode (Preferences > RTL > Cursor Movement) which is commonly used by RTL users.

5. [ID-4272086]TAB indents are getting removed on dragging the left side

   Good morning, I updated InDesign to version 21 and I'm having problems with the tab stops on both PCs. In the tab settings, if I set three tab stops, for example, the first at 10 cm, the second at 20 cm, and the third at 30 cm, if I move the first one, the other two disappear.
   With the beta version, there were no problems. I tried resetting the preferences, but nothing. A technician connected and checked the problem. He said to report the bug.

   Specific Behavior in RTL Context

      • While switching to the legacy composition engine in preferences resolves this specific issue
      • We strongly advise against this solution due to:
        • Previously reported bugs and limitations in the legacy engine (see bug reports #ID-4245219)
        • Performance issues documented in our earlier reports
        • Compatibility concerns with newer features
      • We require a proper fix in the current composition engine rather than reverting to legacy solutions

   2. Temporary Layout Workaround:

      • Right-align the last line of affected paragraphs

8. [ID-4246352]NIKKUD (accents/diacritics) selection has become invisible

   InDesign version: v20 (both Mac & PC)

   Hebrew letters can use NIKKUD - vocalization diacritical marks (function like Vowels) under/above the letter.

   • In previous versions (-2023) it was possible to select only the NIKKUD (attached image) of the letter. (in order to specify the position of the NIKKUD using the Diacritic Positioning panel or to change color, etc.)
   • In the current version (2024-2025) the selection is on the entire letter, and there is no visual indication whether the letter or the NIKKUD is selected (attached image).

9. [ID-4243320] Incorrect cursor movement in RTL text when Harfbuzz text shaping is used.

   InDesign version: v20 (both Mac & PC)

10. Font family names containing "&" display incorrectly in font menu

    Adobe InDesign v21.3

    Steps to reproduce the issue

    1. Install two test fonts with the following family names:
       • “A & B - Test 1”
       • “A&B - Test 2”
    2. Launch InDesign.
    3. Open the Character panel.
    4. Type “A & B”
    5. Observe the displayed family names in the dropdown results.

    Expected result

    Both family names should display exactly as defined in the font name table:

    • “A & B”
    • “A&B”

    Actual result

    The family name containing spaces around the ampersand displays correctly:

    • “A & B”

    The family name with the ampersand between adjacent characters does not display correctly in the dropdown:

    • “AB”

    The ampersand is removed from the dropdown display only when positioned between non-space characters.

    Additional notes

    • The full family name displays correctly elsewhere in the UI after selection.
    • This appears to be specific to ampersands between adjacent characters, though it could potentially affect other special characters as well.
    • The OpenType name table values are spec-compliant. Please see name ID 6 in the OpenType name table specification.
    • Name IDs 1, 4, 6, and 16 all preserve the ampersand correctly.

11. Hyphenation zone settings override discretionary hyphen exclusivity

    Adobe InDesign Hyphenation Bug Report

    Summary

    Conflict between discretionary hyphen behavior and "After First / Before Last" hyphenation zone settings, where InDesign ignores discretionary hyphens that fall within the prohibited hyphenation zone.

    Problem Description

    Expected Behavior

    According to Adobe's documentation, discretionary hyphens should have absolute priority over automatic hyphenation rules. Specifically:

    "Entering a discretionary hyphen in a word does guarantee that the word can be broken only where the discretionary hyphen appears."

    When a word contains a discretionary hyphen that falls within the "After First X Letters" or "Before Last X Letters" prohibited zone, InDesign should:
    1. Respect the discretionary hyphen's exclusivity (only break where discretionary hyphen appears)
    2. Refuse to break the word at all since the only allowed break point falls within the prohibited zone
    3. Not apply automatic hyphenation anywhere else in the word

    Actual Behavior

    InDesign ignores the discretionary hyphen when it falls within the prohibited hyphenation zone and applies automatic hyphenation rules instead, breaking the word at algorithmically-determined positions that fall outside the prohibited zone.

    Conflicting Features

    Feature 1: Document Hyphenation Preferences

    • Location: Paragraph Panel Menu > Hyphenation Settings
    • Setting: "After First [X] Letters / Before Last [X] Letters"
    • Purpose: Defines minimum character zones at word beginnings/endings where hyphenation should not occur
    • Example: With "After First 3 Letters / Before Last 3 Letters", the word "aromatic" may hyphenate as "aro-matic" but not "ar-omatic" or "aromat-ic"

    Feature 2: Discretionary Hyphens

    • Location: Type > Insert Special Character > Hyphens And Dashes > Discretionary Hyphen
    • Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+- (Windows) or Command+Shift+- (macOS)
    • Purpose: Manually specify the only allowable break point in a word
    • Expected Behavior: Word can only break at the discretionary hyphen location, regardless of other settings

12. Deleting an odd number of pages causes the text frame derived from the primary text frame to double

    1. specify a primary text frame for both the left and right pages on the parent page. (figure1)
    2. Delete an odd number of pages. At this time, the parent page is reapplied.
    3. The text frame will be doubled. (figure2)

    Deleting (or adding) an even number of pages will not result in this behavior.
    Deletion/addition of an odd number of pages should not cause doubling.
    Specifically, we would like the text chain of the text frame for which the primary text frame is specified to be retained. (figure3)

    I believe the primary text chain is a feature that was added with the automatic text chain that was in QuarkXPress in mind, but the automatic text chain in QX did not cause duplication when odd number of pages were increased or decreased.

13. Myriad VF has a taller Ascent Baseline than Myriad Pro

    Myriad VF is supposed to be a variable version of Myriad Pro, so I was trying to use it in tandem/to replace Myriad Pro in the document I am working on. The huge problem is, for some reason the Ascent Baseline on Myriad VF is much taller than it should be, which then when I try to replace the font, it completely messes up everything. 

    I also have Myriad Variable Concept on my computer, (which is apparently supposed to only show up in Illustrator, or something? But it shows up in InDesign for me.) And it properly matches the Ascent baseline of Myriad Pro. 

    All 3 of them match on every baseline except Ascent too, so I’m thinking this is a bug. It only seems to effect things in InDesign, I’m not getting any misalignment in Photoshop or Illustrator, but I’m also not seeing all the same text box options in those programs that InDesign gives.

14. eyedropper tool no longer copies text formatting

    The eyedropper tool no longer copies text formatting from a selected source and applying to new text. At best, it changes the color, but not the typeface, weight, character attributes. When highlighting the source text, the eyedropper properly changes to loaded with the "T" - but still doesn't apply the text formatting correctly.

    No character or paragraph styles have been applied.
    Eyedropper settings are set correctly to copy the formatting.

    Problem persists despite resetting Indesign preferences, rebooting, manually deleting indesign preferences, rebooting, updating to latest version, rebooting.

    Very annoying bug that clearly slows down work.

15. Use Typographers Quotes preference keeps being deselected

    I’m using InDesign 21.1. This isn’t a new bug – it has been around for a while. I often discover that the Use Typographers Quotes is deselected, and I never deslect it. I don’t believe there’s a keyboard command that I inadvertently press that does it, so I have no idea why this happens.

    Has anyone else encountered it? A minor irritant, but I finally got around to reporting it. Thanks!

16. collapsed panels on the right side won't open

    version 21.0 ME
    collapsed panels on the right side don't always open when clicked on, it may work for a while but then stops until I reset my workspace, then it works for a while and then stops again.
    I tried creating a new workspace but still happens.
    The same thing happens to my coworker.

18. Text boxes with rounded or beveled edges should have square (or controllable padding edges)

    I want to add text to a text frame with beveled edges without have to worry about the text being pushed by the bevel. Can we fix this?

20. Find Change

    Find and change no longer offers just to find and change something within a story (text box) - if shows either Search: Document or Search: All Documents, whereas previously it would additionally show Search: Selected text, and Search: Story.
    This is a major problem.
