  1. Outline color of tables changed

When I open a file which has been created in InDesign 2019 (by another person) with my version 15.0.1, some outline colors of the tables are displayed incorrectly. (not all of them) In my case they should all be 60% black, but some of them are 100% black now.

  2. triple click paragraph takes next paragraph style instead of selected

Triple click paragraph and paste new text takes paragraph style from next paragraph instead of the selected paragraph meaning you have to manually select the paragraph if you have a header or different paragraph style immediately after the text you wish to replace.

  3. Find/Change Search field always switches to "Story" after I choose to "Change All"

When using the Find/Change box on a text selection, the "Search:" field gets changed from "Selection" to "Story" after I press the "Change All" button.
This is incredibly annoying when I'm trying to change multiple things in the same selection, since I have to switch the option back between every change I make.
I'm not sure if this is a bug, or how it's intended to work, but I hope it can be revised so that InDesign remembers my choice between changes.
I am using the most current version of InDesign at this moment, 15.0.1

  5. Indents Break Burmese Type

Applying an indent to Burmese type in InDesign makes the text render incorrectly. Please see the example in the attached file.

  6. Tracking uppercase bug

Using some fonts (ie. MacOs system font PT SANS), when I change from lowercase to uppercase using the "Tt" function in the character panel, words appears with a wider tracking. When I change it with the menu "change to uppercase" it appears OK. I tried this also in Illustrator and it works well, so I think this is not about the font.

  7. Honor Word Break Boundaries for Overflowing Text / Line Breaking for Non-ZWSP Text

Lao (SEA Asian) text that doesn't already have ZWSPs included, doesn't automatically line-break, even though double-select word selection shows that the ICU/HarfBuzz engine is finding them. It would be nice to be able to set for paragraphs the ability to use non-ZWSP text and have ID automatically line-break based on the ICU/HarfBuzz word boundaries.

Not all people will want this, should it should be made easy to enabled/disable, because some people use ZWSPs to manually control layout features, and don't prefer automatic word-boundary analysis.

  8. Disable Southeast Asian Hypenation

When importing ZWSP or non-ZWSP text, hyphenation can not be disabled. It would be nice if hyphenation can be disabled in the paragraph properties and the text then be removed of hyphens.

  9. CC2020 story doesn't show hyperlink symbols

    Hello,

With CC 2019 I could switch into story mode and see the starting and ending tags for a hyperlink. This ability was beneficial because I found the text editor struggled to reveal/understand the boundaries of the hyperlink's text-it couldn't tell where the hyperlink ended. If you look in the first figure, if I type at the end of the hyperlink, even with first keying a space symbol, the hyperlink extends into any further sentences I type.

In 2019 I would use the story editor to move the cursor outside the hyperlink termination symbol and get around the problem. With…

Open the Hyperlinks panel and see whether the Hyperlinks are actually there. It could be that the Hyperlinks were initially created (hence the Blue color Underline beneath them) but were removed later on. That’s why the Story Editor does not show them.

From the Hyperlinks panel flyout menu, choose ‘Convert URLs to Hyperlinks…’ and see if the Hyperlink Start and Termination Symbols are shown in the Story Editor.

  10. Balance Columns Not Working for Tables

Balance Columns does not work for Tables.

    Steps to duplicate:
    1. Create a large Text Frame with two columns.
    2. Enable Balance Columns on that Text Frame.
    3. Create a Table in the Text Frame with a number of rows, say 10 rows.
    4. Add a paragraph break, or return.
    5. Create a line of Text under that Table that spans columns.
The Table ignores the Balance Columns Setting.

  11. Variable Fonts stem weight issue, even when Create Outlines is used

When using a variable font in InDesign, some glyphs collapse even when I use Type > Create Outlines, so it's not just a display issue. The same glyph in the same named instance displays correctly in browsers, Chrome and Safari, and other apps that support variable fonts, like FontView. (screenshots are attached)

Please fix this so that variable fonts display the same in InDesign as they do in other applications, thank you!

  15. Eyedropper bug — attribute pick-up is glitched by hidden layers above

If there are objects overlapping and above the source for the eyedropper tool, — even if those objects are on a hidden layer — the tool picks up a color of no fill and no stroke.

If the hidden layer is dropped below the target layer, the problem goes away.

These observations are based on original input by Bill Silbert in this User Forum discussion:

  16. Since 2020 update, InDesign won't correctly import and replace typekit fonts.

When opening a file that uses a typekit font, Indesign attempts to "install" it (fonts that SHOULD already be there anyway, or were installed previously). The wheel spins indefinitely, and it never installs. My only workaround I've found is to attempt to find a download elsewhere on the web. Then it works fine. It seems to only be an issue with Indesign, and only since the 2020 update. Something similar happens with some non-adobe fonts, too. Says it's not installed, but it is.

  18. ID 2020 - Indent in combination with wrap text around an image not working

In Indesign 2020, whenever I want to wrap text next to an image, but the text also has an indent the text jumps from the supposed position.
In Indesign 2019 this did not happen. The text was wrapped nicely next to the image, the way you should expect.

My guess what happens here, is that the indent specs are applied not the the edge of the frame, but to the edge of the text. Which corrupts the spacing between the image and the text.

I'm working with the latest 2020 version on iMac with Catalina

  19. Paragraph shading not aligned in justified text when optical alignment is on

If optical margin alignment (story) is ON the paragraph shading doesn't align on the right margin of justified text. hyphens seem to push the edge of the shading out. This is in build 13.1.1 but is also reported in 15.0.0.155. I cannot update to the newest version without buying a new computer—so I won't be anytime soon or maybe ever. So I hope that the bug would get fixed retroactively. My original post is here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/paragraph-shading-text-width-not-justifying/m-p/10750103#M164426

  20. Optical Kerning issues after recent v15 update

After the recent update (v15.0), I am having issues with Optical kerning, specifically with the font Noto Serif Khmer (Cambodian font). The kerning is completely off. I've opened the file in v14.0.3 and everything works fine in that version.
