  1. Spell check for Mandarin Chinese

I would like InDesign and other products to recognize that I am typing in Chinese. A spell check would also be helpful. Currently, it assumes English UK, no matter what I type. (I'm actually using English USA and sometimes Chinese for clients.)

  2. footnotes in paragraph borders style

While using paragraph borders and footnotes, borders break as in attached file. It won't display either preview mode properly though sometime exporting to pdf is perfect in other time it's same as attached pdf.

I'm using Indesign latest 14. 0.3 one in windows 7.

  3. Use of tab key is inserting unwanted numerals into line of copy instead of tab

When working in InDesign v 14.0.3 x64 on my PC, I've encountered a new problem when trying to align text in a bulleted list using the "tab" key.

After keying in the text in my list, I create alignment by first inserting tabs using the Type > Tabs command, and then using the "Tab" key on my keyboard to align second and third lines of text. Lately, when I move my cursor down to the second line of text and attempt to use the tab key to align the text with the tab I set in the line above, InDesign…

  4. Bad optical kerning for superscript "4"

When a superscript "4" follows a closing smart quotation mark, optical kerning is set to -60 or -70 depending on font. This is too close (basically a crash).

This is annoying for books with lots of endnotes, where superscript numbers usually follow quotation marks.

  5. Link updates not registering in Indesign Mac

    Indesign 14.0.3 (latest offered)

A text box is dynamically linked [place and link] from a master document to a child document. When the text is changed in the master document, the linked box in the child detects that it has been changed, and prompts user to update the placed box with a missing/updated link warning and an ! icon on the linked box. This is the expected behavior, and this works properly on Windows version of Indesign.

This function is not working on the Mac version of Indesign. Changes to the master are not being detected by the linked copy…

  6. Text

  7. Mongolian

Issue: InDesign does not support Mongolian vertical text direction from left-to-right.

    Version: InDesign 2019, 14.0.2 x64

    Steps:
    1. Place or paste Mongolian text into an InDesign text frame by using the attached Word document
    2. Skew the text frame 90 degrees (as done with vertical Chinese and Japanese).

Expected result: Please see the attached Word document and screenshot.

Actual result: Notice that the vertical text direction is right-to-left and not left-to-right. Even if the text frame is skewed in the opposite direction (minus 90 degrees) the text is just mirrored and thus not readable.

Test files and screenshot: They are…

  8. Text input lag with 5k screen

Typing in any Indesign text box causes input lag on Mac Mini, OS X Mojave and an 5k LG screen connected with a eGPU.

  9. Using glyphs in a text variable

I've defined a text variable that I use for a running header. This variable is defined from the first use of a "chapter title" paragraph style that I've also defined. I've inserted this variable on my A-master page, which is synced between documents in my book. The problem I'm running into is that I've used a number of glyphs in the text comprising the first use of that style, and the text variable (my running header) looks garbled: it's missing letters and has mixed caps. If it matters, the font I'm using is Orpheus Pro Bold.

    Attached are two screenshots:…

  10. Vertical Table Lines in White (defined in the front, bevore horizontal lines) got overruled

    short:
Tables, vertical lines white (in front), horizontal lines in black (in the back)
after undefined cause: horiziontal in front, vertical in the back.
Workaround: click (in top menue) on the white color again (for the vertical lines)

    describe:
There is some serious complications with vertical table lines! I want to have the vertical lines cut out of the horizontal ones. This is easy, with doing white vertical table-lines. Works perfekt. But sometimes, not always to reproduce, there is a trouble, where the white lines, hide behind the black herizontal ones after copy&paste or changes in the layout. There is…

  11. numbering & sections should work on the same line

Allow second or third automatic lists on the same line.
The second and other columns do not work automatically. Manually entering value.

  12. Index entries lost when importing a .docx file with text frames into InDesign

    InDesign version: CC 2018
    MS Word version: 2013

When I import a .docx file that uses text boxes/text frames/shapes into InDesign, most of the index entries within the .docx file is lost. When I import the same .docx file after removing all the shapes, all index entries remain intact.
I've attached reference .docx files so that you can see what I mean. The .docx file (lorem_ipsum_index.docx) has five index entries, that are lost when imported to InDesign. On removing the text box from the .docx file (lorem_ipsum_index_wo_txt_box.docx), the index entries are imported properly.
My assumption is that this is an…

  15. auto correction

    Werte Entwickler,

  17. Forcepoint DLP affects copy and paste functionality in Adobe InDesign

Following deployment of Forcepoint data loss prevention software into our organisation, functionality for copy and paste in all versions of Adobe InDesign was lost. When pasting, text would lose all formatting and no longer be associated with style sheets. Anchored objects were lost. Some hidden characters e.g. indent to here were lost. Tables were also affected. If pasting into same document, pasted text would adopt whatever style sheet was currently selected. If pasting into a new document, text would default to Minion Pro. Partial improvement was achieved by changing Clipboard Handling preference from Text Only to All Information but this…

  18. Indesign cannot be embedded in Chinese fonts

Indesign cannot be embedded in Chinese fonts, but can only be embedded in subsets. It is recommended to add warning reminders.

When printing files from InDesign, we are experiencing issues. Random text is appearing bold that is not formatted as bold in the original working file. Also we are experiencing pictures imported that are pdfs as a black block and not showing the imported picture on the printed document. Do you have any recommendations on how this can be resolved? The only way we found to get around the matter is to create a pdf and print from the pdf. This issue has just been happening recently, we’ve never had this issue before.
