Setting maximum limit above 2000 for "Always subset fonts with glyph counts greater than:" does not work
By default, the InDesign preference General > Always subset fonts with glyph counts greater than is set to 2000 characters. However, there are many popular fonts that have many thousands of glyphs beyond that and changing this number to a higher glyph count to accommodate those fonts does not work. The fonts are still subset even if the PDF export setting is set to "Subset fonts when percent of characters used is less than 0%."
Fonts to try:
Garamond Premier Pro
Arno ProThis is a major problem for files intended for print that require fonts to be fully embedded.

[ID-4256474]InDesign 2025 removes all PDF export setting files with double-byte and accented characters from InDesign 2024
During the installation of InDesign 2025, all .joboptions files with PDF export settings were removed, even in the older version 2024! This is absurd!
41 votesThe fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2025(v20.0.1.032). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

Custom .joboptions presets break all PDF exports in InDesign 20 (macOS 15.6.1)
⚠️ Critical Bug: Custom .joboptions presets instantly disable all PDF export in InDesign 20 on macOS 15 — exports appear to finish but no PDF is produced. Removing the preset restores functionality. Confirmed reproducible across multiple systems.
InDesign 20.0 on macOS 15.6.1 silently fails to export PDFs after a custom PDF preset (.joboptions) is created or added. The export appears to complete, but no file is generated and no error message appears. Removing the custom .joboptions file immediately restores export functionality.
This occurs even when the preset is a clean derivative of “Press Quality” or “High Quality Print,” suggesting a…

When viewing an exported PDF images do not appear correctly
I'm using InDesign 2026 version 21.0. These bugs are new after the latest update. We create primary 36+ page booklets with lots of text and linked files: Illustrator files (linked as .AI), JPG/PNG images, and PDFs. When creating a PDF using Adobe PDF preset for smallest file size some pages do not appear correctly. One example is a linked InDesign file with text and graphics where some of the text is missing (text missing bug.PDF). Another example images that appear fine in InDesign and in print but render incorrectly on the PDF, this is also a linked InDesign file (images…

InDesign exporting old QR code after editing URL
InDesign is exporting an old QR code after editing the URL.
In InDesign I can scan the QR code and it is correct. When I export to PDF, the old (incorrect) QR code is on the PDF. I can literally see the difference ,and when scanned, it goes to the OLD URL.

InDesign 20.5 Mac not exporting keywords to PDF
ID is not exporting the File info > Keyword field to a PDF. The type of keyword I'm trying to export is like "OS Version 1.2". This has been workin in ID CS6 for years.
The keyword can't be seen either in Apple Preview in Sequoia, or in UPDF.

Segoe UI Emoji font visual issue in Indesign Export PDF
I have used some smiley glyphs in my InDesign layout with the "Segoe UI Emoji" font. The smiley glyphs appear in black and white in both the InDesign Glyphs panel and my layout. However, in the exported PDF, they appear in yellow.
Since I am working on a black-and-white layout, this is causing an issue. I am using the latest versions of InDesign 2024 and 2025. I suspect this could be an application bug. Could someone please check and confirm?

facing page bleed issue on pdf export
If I have facing pages setup with art that touches the inner page edge but does not go over that page border there is a tiny slice of that art that shows up when exporting a pdf. My client always notes it as an error. Example: left hand page has an image that fill the page and bleeds off the left but only touches the right hand side of the page. I use align to right of page so it is right on the edge. I export to pdf and a teeny tiny sliver of that image shows up on…

PDF Export Page Range Defaults to Previous Settings
Adobe InDesign – PDF Export Page Range Defaults to Previous Settings
When exporting a document to PDF in Adobe InDesign, the software retains the page range from the previous export session and uses it as the default setting for the next export. This behavior can lead to unintentional partial exports if the user forgets to manually reset the page range to "All" before exporting a new document or version.
This issue disrupts workflow and increases the risk of delivering incomplete documents, particularly in environments with high output volume or multiple concurrent projects. It would be more efficient and user-friendly if…

Hyperlinks to text anchors deleted when exporting to PDF and using Adobe World-Ready composers
The Adobe World-Ready composers break hyperlinks to internal text anchors when the document is exported to PDF.
Internal document links are composed of a source and a destination. The hyperlinks seem to get dropped when the destination is in a paragraph that uses one of the World-Ready composers.
The hyperlinks appear to work correctly in the hyperlinks panel within InDesign. It's only once the file is exported to a PDF and opened in a program like Acrobat that this issue becomes apparent. When reviewing the output in Acrobat, the destination no longer appears to be present in the document at…

Outer Edge Bleed Option for Facing Pages
Description:
InDesign currently applies identical bleed settings to all four edges of each page, even in facing-page layouts.
For publications such as magazines, catalogs, and books, the inner (spine) edge bleed between facing pages is unnecessary and can cause issues in visualization, export, and imposition.Feature Request:
Add an option in the Document Setup and Export Settings to enable Outer Edge Bleed mode.In this mode, bleed is applied only to the top, bottom, and outer edges of each spread.
The inner edge between facing pages would have no bleed, resulting in a cleaner, more accurate PDF output that reflects…1 vote -
InDesign doesn't export 16 bit grayscale or 48 bit color images
Tested on version: 20.2 x64
Dear Adobe Support Team,
When importing high bit-depth images—such as 16-bit grayscale or 48-bit/64-bit color (TIFF/PSD formats)—into Adobe InDesign, we’ve observed that even when disabling down-sampling and compression, the exported PDF converts these images to 8-bit grayscale or 8 bits per component for color (i.e., 24-bit RGB or 32-bit CMYK), rather than preserving the original bit depth.
While we understand that limitations may exist within the current Acrobat SDK, it is important to highlight that:
The Adobe PDF Library SDK (PDFL SDK) explicitly supports the creation and reading of 16-bit image objects in multiple color…

InDesign exports out incorrect pdf document when another InDesign file is open and detached from main panel
This is a weird bug that I just found. I'm using a Mac and have 3 monitors. The OS and all Adobe products are up to date. I am not using InDesign Beta. I have two separate InDesign files open and the second one is detached from the primary InDesign panel and on the other monitor. I have the primary document selected and go to File > Adobe PDF Presets > Press Quality and somehow InDesign will export out the other document that is not selected and on the other screen. I have recreated this twice with the same result.…
