1. Constantly crashes

   InDesign (20.1) is laggy and constantly crashes at the slightest thing.
   Move a box - crashes

2. Crashing on Windows 11 when putting laptop into Tablet Mode

   When InDesign is open with the laptop in desktop mode it works fine. As I have a 2 in 1, I put it into tablet mode but this leads to InDesign to crash, this works vice versa if you boot it up in tablet mode and go to desktop mode.. This is really easy to replicate and all that is required is a 2in1 laptop on Windows 11.

   1. Open InDesign
   2. Flip the Screen over to force laptop into tablet mode

3. InDesign crashes when you Command + P on a file in the Finder on Mac (when you already have a file open in InDesign)

4. not opening files

   Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server - Version 20 (beta), running on Windows 11

   Steps to reproduce the issues - In Windows file explorer, I double click on an .indd file

   Expected result - InDesign would then open the file

   Actual result - InDesign opens, but will not open the file. The only ways I can open an .indd file in InDesign is by using the Open command or by dragging and dropping an .indd file into it.

5. InDesign crashes when trying to cut, and/or copy, a table from the paragraph level

   Different versions of InDesign have this problem including 2023, 2024, and 2025 - on Mac Monteray.

   If I attempt to highlight tables from the paragraph level and copy or cut, either with menus or key commands, InDesign will either immediately crash, or beach ball a bit and then crash.

   Upon reopening InDesign, the menus will not appear. I have to use the keyboard commands to quit InDesign again. Upon reopening, it will work properly again... that is unless I attempt to copy or cut another table.

   Please fix! I'm constantly working with complicated tables and the only way to get them to remain consistant is to copy and paste them!!

   In the attached screenshot you can see how I am highlighting the tables.

   NOTE: These tables include form fields. I noticed I am able to copy/cut tables that do not include them - so maybe that's an issue?

   NOTE 2: Also, I'm able to delete (without cutting) so clipboard issue??

   Also, a friend working on a PC was able to copy/cut - so looks like a Mac problem.

   EDIT: Form fields are the problem - deleting them solves it. I need the form fields - anything you can do to help?

6. ID 20.0.1 locks up when resizing a table cell, either expanding the column or expanding the row width downward.

   Mac Sonoma, M2 silicon.

   I have an academic text chapter with numerous tables; Hebrew is scattered through the text, and some tables have Hebrew columns. Many times working on the file, the slightest change to resize a table cell, or resize a column, or who knows what, ID will go into rainbow wheel of death mode and must be killed.

   I just now found a repeatable lockup. A table had no header row, but crosses pages, so I created a header row to be present on each page for that table.

   Copying the single line text from a cell into that column's header cell works. Copying a four text line table cell into the one line table header cell for that column expands the header cell (and row) downward, and then ID locks up and must be killed. That has happened twice on one table..

   I now recognize that the same lockup has happened on other similar tables on exactly that same column; when copying a four line text from a cell into a one line header cell that must expand downward, ID locks up.

   For what it is worth, the tables are on pages that are rotated 90º CCW, as the table is too wide for a 6x9 horizontal page.

   In this instance the header row and the row below it are the last elements on a page; when pasting the text into the header cell the header row expands and pushes the first table cell to the next page.

   Other tables have locked up ID when pasting into a header cell that was the first row on a page, but it may have pushed a lower row to the next page; I am not sure of that.

   In another instance, in the top-of-page table panel for that same problematic column, I could click the column width box one point at a time to widen it to its desired width, roughly 66pt to 108pt, but if I entered 108pt in the column width and tabbed out to expand it at once, ID locked up and had to be killed.

   I tried falling back to 19.5.1, but it also locks up and must be killed.

   If you want the file to duplicate the problems, you must provide a private way to transfer it to you.

   Why do you use a fixed size text box on the bug report page, when that makes it difficult to provide sufficiently long problem descriptions?

7. Indesign 20.0.01 freezes when updating fonts

   It happens erratically, however, when Indesign needs to update or scan fonts, it freezes -- even if the document uses fonts that are open and available. Only work around is to click on any other app and then click back on Indesign document. This happens on just about any type of Indesign file (blank pages, or pages with lots of texts and font usage).

8. command s

   When I use Command + S to save, InDesign freezes, and I’m forced to force quit the program. Saving normally works fine. I have the Swedish version and a MacBook Pro M3.

9. InDesign crashes/freezes when closing the document

   InDesign freezes when you close a document. We cannot open any documents, no action can be performed in InDesign. InDesign cannot be quit, it has to Forced Kill.

   Many internal as well as external factors can cause the InDesign application to crash/freeze/hang. A few workarounds are listed at Fix crash issues with InDesign.

   We completed the investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue has been resolved in the most recent release of InDesign (Refer to InDesign Release notes), the issue was intermittent at the time of reporting and is no longer reproducible, or the InDesign version mentioned in the report is no longer covered by Creative Cloud Support Policy.

   We would recommend you upgrade to the latest version as it is more robust. If you are still facing this issue even after updating it, either submit the crash report(Refer to Submitting crash reports) to us or Contact Adobe support.

10. 2025 InDesign (v20.0) Frequent Crashing on MacOS 15.0.1 Sequoia

    Ever since the 2025 version of InDesign released earlier this month, I have had constant crashing issues while working on multiple files. I have been using MacOS 15 Sequoia since it released in September. At first it seemed to crash at random every 5-30 minutes while going between open indd tabs. I think I can more consistently trigger it now by trying to open/navigate around a .indt file. I have a screen recording attached of me clicking around with a 2025 .indt file, a 2025 .indd file, and a 2024 .indd file. Within this minute long recording, InDesign crashes twice, both times when going between/opening the .indt file to the regular 2025 .indd file.

    Ever since the 2025 version of InDesign released earlier this month, I have had constant crashing issues while working on multiple files. 11. InDesign 20.0. Randomly crashes (haven't had this problem before). Could be a few minutes after opening the program or working on a file

    InDesign 20.0 on iMac. Randomly crashes (haven't had this problem with any previous versions). Could be a few minutes after opening the program or while working on a file. Very random but too often. I reset preferences, ran disk utility, et al.

12. [ID-4256174]InDesign crashes while searching any font/word, etc., which is in overset text.

    We have simple scripts that operate on script labels to Find and Replace Text, adjust Text Size, things like that. We've been using them for three years with no problems prior to v2025. They crash and bring up the option to send an error report. We're rolling back to 2024 now, we can't operate efficiently without these scripts.

13. 2025 ID - Linked Files fail and just Spin

    Mac 14.7 - ID 2025 - Docs with Linked Files (simple PDFs and Jpgs) just produce spinners and never become workable. Display set to Typical. This happens AFTER a file is saved and re-opened. When it is made all is fine, until it is closed and reopened. Have reverted to 2024.

14. Indesign crashing repeatedly when printing

    Crashes intermittently when printing to Epson printer. Stops printing part way thorough page & epson dialogue box shows print levels all greyed out, not in colour. Windows log from control panel below.

15. InDesign 19.5 hangs on startup (ARM Mac, not sure about x86 and Windows)

    I've been experiencing this for some time on different Macs with different versions of InDesign. This time round I have a repeatable setup which makes the issue occur consistently. The issue occurs on 'real' machines as well as VMs - it's just that this time I've 'caught' the problem in one of my VMs.

    I am using a Mac OS X virtual machine (using Parallels) on an ARM processor (M2 Max, 64GB of memory). In the virtual machine, I've only installed Mac OS X Sequoia, Creative Cloud Desktop, and InDesign 19.5. Everything is as vanilla as it can be.

    When I launch InDesign it hangs. I tried a preference reset. No change. I've created a few samples with Activity Monitor, and then did a force quit after about 4 mins, and captured the crash logs from Apple and Adobe.

    The issue is repeatable - each launch, InDesign hangs.

    When I downgrade to InDesign 19.0, everything works fine - the issue seems to have started somewhere between 19.0 and 19.5

    I believe it to be some kind of deadlock - cursory viewing of the crash log seems to have a lot of threads just waiting.

    My hunch is that the issue might be related to the activation logic - my internet connection is sometimes slow, and I have a feeling there might be some deadlock situation when the connection is too slow, and something internally gives up waiting.

16. Indesign crashes when attempting to copy or delete a table with an anchored text form field.

    Mac Monteray 12.7.6 - Indesign 2024

    I'm using tables to hold form fields for a PDF form. When a text form field is anchored in a table, copying the table will cause text fields to disappear. Continuing to copy or delete that table will eventually cause a InDesign to crash. When reopening Indesign none of the menu commands work properly and I have to use Command Q to quit InDesign again and reopen in order to continue my work.

17. Every possible action on notes freeze or crash InDesign 2024

    I had this issue in a very simple one A4 page document that has a single text area filled with text and some not complicated header elements (including a placed image) in InDesign 2024 (v. 19.5) file.

    I created 4 notes with 1-2 words each.

    Anything I did with notes after that, the app freezes or crashes each time. Is that a known bug?

    InDesign CC 2024, version 19.5: Trying to open Object Export Options causes program to crash. Tried resetting preferences (edit->preferences->general->reset preferences on quit) and no change.

19. 新規ドキュメントの作成画面で時々フリーズする(Sometimes it freezes on the new document creation screen)

    上記に書いたとおりです。頻度は時々ですが、たまに「新規」→「ドキュメント」のダイアログで、フリーズすることがあります。

20. version 19.5.0.84 quits on open, OS ventura 13.1

    Indesign 2024 version 19.5.0.84, OS Ventura 13.1. It will open once, but after closing the app, and opening it the second time, it flashes the InDesign 'open screen' and then quits. The only workaround found is to uninstall and reinstall. I've been doing this for 6 mos, and it's getting old. We all pay for the software to work. I've been using Adobe products for decades and it seems it's worse now. What is the fix?
