  1. wrap shape

Every time I use "wrap around object shape" -- and it's a box or shape I've created within InDesign -- it crashed InDesign. Thankfully, it recovers well. If it's on an imported shape or something I actually draw with the pen too, it works as it should. But the crashing when it's a rounded rectangle is frustrating. I have to remember NOT to use it or do the keep aways differently.

  2. Crash: Dynamic spelling with special word

There is a crazy bug: when the dynamic spellcheck is active (German, Duden) and you are typing in a text frame hintereinanderherschlichen (it’s a German word) indesign crashed immediately.

We don’t know why, but then, after the crash, and when the dynamic spell check is still active, InDesign crashes again when it tries to recover the document.

  3. My InDesign crashes when I use the quick apply shortcut (command enter).

I use InDesign 17.1 2022 on M1 MacBook with macOS Monterey (all updated).

Any document I'm working with, when I hit cmd+enter for quick apply, InDesign crashes. I've been sending crash reports but haven't got any feedback yet.
it doesn't happen all the time but almost daily it crashes a few times like this.

  5. Home Welcome Screen Blank After Update on all Apps

After the recent set of updates, Indesign does not show the welcome screen. When i try to create a new document (CNTRL+N, File>New>Document) the app hangs and i have to restart the app. I am able to open existing files, but not create new ones. Worked around the problem by selecting "Use Legacy New Document Dialog", but i would like to get my home/Welcome screen back.

    OS: Windows 10
    Indesign Version: 17.1

PS: having the same issue on Ilustrator and Photoshop, although those two apps dont hang

  6. links buttons causes crash

    Adobe InDesign 2022 ver 17.1
Trying to fix a link but when I hit the links button, the whole program crashes. Sent a report every time.
Have rebooted computer, restarted computer, uninstalled/reinstalled InDesign with no luck.
It just shuts down and wants to send a report. I have tried to recover, not recover, and cancel. Still no resolution.

  7. Crashes when I try to export

InDesign 17.1 - Today something happend with my InDesign and I can't export anything anymore as it gives me this problem like in the two images. And it doesn't matter if I click on the ok or not, it simply closes. And when I try to open InDesign again, the loading screen appears and then crashes and closes. The second time I try to open and move to recover my file, it crashes. It also crashed even if I hit No. Only when I hit the Close button, then it moves on but I still can't export anything. And I…

  8. InDesign will not work with documents downloaded from Google Drive.

InDesign 17.1 does not display images in documents downloaded from Google Drive, which was previously my regular work process. The list of images in "Links" does not show any alerts that any image is missing. When I re-link an image, it does display in the document, but the program does not automatically re-link any of the other images in the same folder.

  10. InDesign crashes when formatting footnotes

Formatting footnotes using InDesign 2022 v 17.1 causes severe lag and eventually the program seizes up and must be ended through task manager. Full details here:

    https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/indesign-crashes-when-formatting-footnotes/m-p/12712546#M463355

The resolution to the issue was to roll back InDesign to 16.4.1, no such problems with that.

Sample files that caused the crash are here:

There are many internal as well as external factors that can cause the InDesign application to crash/freeze/hang.

A few workarounds are listed at https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/kb/crash-on-launch.html.

We would recommend you to upgrade to latest version as it is more robust.

If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us. (Guidelines to submit crash are available at https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)

  16. Resizing table cell causes InDesign to crash

    1. Adobe InDesign 17.0 x64 (2022).
    2. Resize the single-cell table so that the content overflows.
    3. Content should disappear and overflow symbol should appear.

    5. Uservoice doesn't allow .idml attachments, so the document is available here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ui8zrhk5ibm1kt/overflowCrash.idml?dl=0

  18. InDesign 17.0 crashes on launch after removing a previously installed CEP Extension

Steps to reproduce in InDesign 17.0:

    1. Install a CEP extension folder manually to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions
    2. Launch then quit InDesign
    3. Delete CEP extension folder installed in step 1
    4. Launch InDesign, it will crash when "Starting up panels"

As a workaround deleting the following cache folder allows InDesign to launch again.
    ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version 17.0

This was not an issue in ID 16.4

The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2022(v17.0.1.105). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

InDesign keeps crashing when you’re trying to change the default language. Received a large file with French as default and we need to localize it for US market.

  20. Anchored text box in a table cell with text threads crashes when cutting

As the title says. It sounds similar to past bugs.

First, create a text box and add a table.
Create a separate, new text box and add a single character in it.
Anchor the text box to any cell in the table.
Enable "Show Text Threads" from the View > Extras menu.
Selecting and attempting to cut the table will lead to a long hang and crash.

This is on the latest version of InDesign at the moment, 17.0. I am on Windows 10 20H2 19042.1288. I can verify this occurring on two separate systems.
    I've included a video walking…
