  1. [ID-4261684] Hang when "How likely are you to recommend INDESIGN" dialog appears at startup

    Twice now, I have started InDesign, opened a book, opened a file from the book, and pressed command-F to open the Find dialog. The Find dialog opens, and I begin to type. Then, the "How likely are you to recommend INDESIGN" dialog appears over it, and the cursor (and my typing) goes to that dialog instead. The spinning beach-ball appears, and InDesign is unresponsive; to recover, I have to force-quit the application.

  2. Error Message: Adobe InDesign is Shutting Down When Packaging Files

    Version: Adobe InDesign v20.2 on macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 on Apple M1 Max

    Steps to Reproduce: File > Package… > Package… > Package. I've also had issues when just closing files and the same error pops up.

    Expected Result: No errors/crashing and files packaged.
    Actual Result: Error message triggered: "Adobe InDesign is shutting down. A serious error was detected. Please restart InDesign to recover work in any unsaved InDesign documents." This closes the application. When re-opened, it goes through document recovery process.

    I reverted to InDesign v20.1 and I don't experience the issue at all. Something was introduced in v20.2 to…

  3. Stuck on adding font, other background task get stuck in queue that never clears

    Occasionally I open a document that tries to add fronts in background, it fails then the task is added to Background Tasks and hangs indefinitely. Then if I try to export a PDF, it is added to background tasks but will not progress until the fonts are added, which they never finish loading.

  4. Crashing multiple times a day

    Hi all,

    I’m running InDesign 2025 (v20.2.0.36) on macOS 15.3.2 (Apple Silicon). I’ve experienced a repeat crash which seems to happen either at launch or while interacting with a document.

    I’ve attached the crash log for reference, but the key info is:
    • Crash type: SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault: 11)
    • Exception code: 0x0000000000000000
    • Crash location: Document Actions → Command::DoImmediate(short)
    • Main thread: crash happened in the dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

    From what I can see, it looks like InDesign is crashing during a document-level action, possibly linked to a plugin or corrupted document element. There are also multiple background threads…

  5. Text wrap - select subject - cancelling progress causes crash

    Clicking an image/object, choosing wrap around object shape and then type: Select subject will bring up the progress bar whilst it thinks about it. If you choose to cancel the progress then indesign crashes without an error code or crash dialogue.

    Have tried on 2024/2025 windows 10 and 11 and bug persists.

  7. Serious Error when Importing Paragraph Styles

    InDesign 20.2 crashes with a "serious error" every single time I try to import paragraph styles from another document. I'm using macOS 14.6.1. No problems when using the previous version of InDesign. Boy, you guys really messed this one up.

  8. InDesign 2025 Crashing Constantly

    Indesign 2025 has been crashing consistently since I updated it. The main trigger seems to be when you Option-drag any element. Text, image, shape. It immediately crashes. Any designer knows option-drag is a standard move for design work. This is very problematic. I have restarted, reinstalled, updated OS but still the same thing happens. Sometimes it now crashes when you PDF anything. Update has some serious glitches. Needs fixing asap.

  9. [ID-4260604] InDesign with Typeface app is going in Protective Shutdown on document close

    Customer Scenario1

    Brand new Indesign 20.2: open any document, change nothing in it and close it. Indesign gives a warning and then crashes.
    MacOS 15.3.1 (24D70), Macstudio M2, I have reset all personal prefs, I am using Typeface app. This didn't happen with 20.1

    Customer Scenario2

    Doing a data merging of a .CSV file.

    Result

    InDesign is going in Protective Shutdown for few scenarios

    Workaround

    • Deactivate the Typeface app and continue to work with InDesign v20.2.0.36
    • Rolling back to InDesign 20.1.0.71 to continue to work with the Typeface app

    Please check if the issue is now resolved.

    Download/Update the latest InDesign PreRelease build in Creative Cloud under the “Prerelease” category(Refer to “Prerelease_CreativeCloud.png” for reference)

  10. drag and drop + option key (for objects and pages) crashes ID

    since the update 20.1, drag and drop + option key crashes InDesign. sometimes, while duplicating a box. sometimes, trygin to duplicate a page (as seen in the attachment).

  13. Shift option drag crashes InDesign

    I have used Shift Option Drag for a million years. Roughly a month ago it started crashing InDesign. I removed Plug-Ins, I uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign. I ran maleware, all good. App was up to date. How does that happen out of nowhere???????

  14. Help Improve Adobe Products Screen causes InDesign to hang

    So I have to force quit. Then when reopened the menus won't open, so I have to quit again before I can use it.

    Imagine the attached image with a rotating beach ball on top.

    Is there a way I can disable this screen before it comes up?

  15. InDesign 2024 (Mac) crash on quit

    Almost every time I quit InDesign 2024 (19.5.1), I get a crash report. I ve tried re-installing and deleted the preference files. No dice.
    I have no files open when I quit the application.

    InDesign (20.1) is laggy and constantly crashes at the slightest thing.
    Move a box - crashes

  17. Crashing on Windows 11 when putting laptop into Tablet Mode

    When InDesign is open with the laptop in desktop mode it works fine. As I have a 2 in 1, I put it into tablet mode but this leads to InDesign to crash, this works vice versa if you boot it up in tablet mode and go to desktop mode.. This is really easy to replicate and all that is required is a 2in1 laptop on Windows 11.

    2. Flip the Screen over to force laptop into tablet mode

  19. not opening files

    Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server - Version 20 (beta), running on Windows 11

    Steps to reproduce the issues - In Windows file explorer, I double click on an .indd file

    Expected result - InDesign would then open the file

    Actual result - InDesign opens, but will not open the file. The only ways I can open an .indd file in InDesign is by using the Open command or by dragging and dropping an .indd file into it.

  20. InDesign crashes when trying to cut, and/or copy, a table from the paragraph level

    Different versions of InDesign have this problem including 2023, 2024, and 2025 - on Mac Monteray.

    If I attempt to highlight tables from the paragraph level and copy or cut, either with menus or key commands, InDesign will either immediately crash, or beach ball a bit and then crash.

    Upon reopening InDesign, the menus will not appear. I have to use the keyboard commands to quit InDesign again. Upon reopening, it will work properly again... that is unless I attempt to copy or cut another table.
