  1. Crash when placing DOCX with character styles

    Steps:
    1. Attempt to place place Word.docx in an InDesign 2020 document.
    2. InDesign spends a long time parsing character styles.
    3. Resaved Word file as .doc file and was able to import it. I don't know what information (if any) in the Word file was lost. This is not an ideal solution.

    Link above "How to Submit Crash Report" is dead. I have previously submitted several crash reports through the InDD/system interface.

    We have released InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) with a lot of stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

  2. Script | Selection on merged row makes indesign crash

    Hi everyone,

    I'm facing a new problem with a script I was working on, it is supposed to read every cells I selected and let me apply a cell and paragraph style. It works fine unless my first selection is a merge row and the second one a row without any merge.

    so selecting this two rows with this code makes indesign crash (see: rows.png):

  3. [ID-4222229]Exporting to ePub (reflowable) when document has endnotes containing hyperlinks causes InDesign to hang

    Version of Adobe InDesign: 15.1.2 / macOS 10.15.6

    Steps to reproduce the issues: When exporting a document with endnotes containing hyperlinks to ePub (reflowable), InDesign hangs and needs to be force quit. Have tested removing all hyperlinks to tests, and document exports correctly. Have tested putting hyperlinks outside of endnotes and document exports correctly. The bug is specific to hyperlinks which are part of the endnote text.

    Expected result: Successful export with endnotes reciprocally linked to text, and hyperlinks in endnote text active to respective URLs.

    Actual result: InDesign hangs and needs to be force quit.

  4. Crash when continuing to place text from Word

    Hello.

    When I try to continue to place text from any Word document Indesign crashes. It actually won't crash by "itself", it just stops working.

    I have followed the steps you outlined here: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html#Howtosubmitcrashreports

    to submit a crash report. However, since I have to Force quit it I cannot get the report crash dialogue.

    MacOSX version: 10.14.6
    Indesign version: Any from 14.0.3 to 15.1.2

  5. InDesign Freeze when anchored objects are 'Fit Frame to Content'

    Whenever fitting Frame to Content with an anchored object, InDesign freezes and I have to force-quit. This is really annoying, since I work with a lot of anchored objects that include text and need to be resized a lot of times.

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

  7. Hyperlink causing InDesign to crash

    I have an issue in a file that I'm working with where if I scroll to a certain point in the hyperlink panel, my entire InDesign program crashes. I've tried deleting all of the hyperlinks one-by-one, and I noticed that it always crashes when I reach the same point (about 2/3rds down the list).

    I think there's a hyperlink that's become an issue within the file, and whenever InDesign tries to show that specific one within the hyperlink panel, it crashes.

  8. ID freezes when selecting several characters

    When trying to select several characters in inDesign 15.1.1.x64 under Windows 10 v1909 Home, the app inevitably freezes up.. This happens when selecting with the mouse as well as when using the arrow keys. So far I couldnʼt find any workaround. I consider this a lethal bug since it makes adequate editing a virtual impossibility. My subscription version is up to date.

    InDesign 2020 crashes on launch due to faulty Windows update corrupting the VCRuntime dlls.

    Refer to Helpx article to fix the issue https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/crash-on-launch.html#unexpected

    Please follow the below steps to resolve the issue
    • Close all the Applications.
    • Go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features.
    • Right-click Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 (x64)/ 2017-2019 (x64).
    • Click Change > Repair.
    • Restart the system.
    • Relaunch InDesign and check how it works
    • If the issue is still not resolved, Download the latest VCRuntime from https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

  10. File Info box not displaying CC2020 15.1.1

    File Info box not displaying when trying to add metadata. CC2020 15.1.1, Mac OS Catalina 10.15.5, external Dell monitor. I have tried reopening and overwriting preference files then restart. I have tried deleting library cache for cc15 and then restart. I have disconnected external monitor and restarted. Only solution has been to reopen as cc2019 doc and add there, but some clients make additional changes in 2020 and send back so I still have same issue. I keep having to force quit to get program to restart each time I try and open file info.

  11. Type library is not automatically created by CC2020 installation. Error 104705: Unable to load Adobe InDesign Type Library (Version 1.0)

    Extensions and scripts halting or crashing after installing CC2020, due to a missing type library.
    Our customers report errors after updating to CC2020, and I got the same error when I tried. Our script make a halt at a DoScript call, with this error: 104705: Unable to load Adobe InDesign Type Library (Version 1.0)
    After starting InDesign CC2020 "AS ADMINISTRATOR", a missing type library is obviously created: the message and error disappears after doing that once.
    It was not enough for my user just to have administrator privileges on my computer and in the domain, I had to explicitly start…

  14. Indesign 15.1.1 crashing when placing an AI file

    Indesign 15.1.1 crashes every time when trying to place an AI file of a map that was originally exported from ArcGIS. Maps are complex, but I have never had a problem placing them before this update.

  15. InDesign freezes while working with "Scale Tool"

    When using the "Scale Tool", every 4 or 5 times or so the app freezes at the dialog box and there's no way to exit. You have to force quit the app and hope that your work is autosaved. Unacceptable and only started happening recently.

  16. Find/Change crashes InDesign

    Find/Change crashes everytime, if i apply say for example find ^^^ and replace with end of paragraph, and i apply on entire document or even say 4 pages, it hangs indefnitely and then I have to kill the process in Task Manager. I t does this everytime. So I am forced to work on each page and I have a 500 page book to format.

  17. Ungespeicherte Dokumente verloren

    Weil Adobe der Ansicht war, es müsse mal kurz Indesign neustarten und die Zugangsdaten überprüfen, habe ich gerade zwei ungespeicherte Dokumente verloren! Die Arbeit von acht Stunden!
    Es wurde zwar abgefragt, ob ich speichern will oder nicht, aber diese Frage kam so überraschend, dass ich gar nicht so schnell realisieren konnte, was da eigentlich los ist. Ich habe versucht, den Vorgang mit Esc abzubrechen. Daraufhin wurde Indesign ohne Speichern der geöffneten Dokumente trotzdem geschlossen.

  18. Random Crashing of InDesign after sitting idle for long periods of time

    InDesign 2020 .1 and following has crashed on my computer a number of times after sitting idle fora long time. I've sent in the crash reports on most of the occurrences of this.

    The second thing that isn't working right is that hide application isn't working right on my mac which is operating using Catalina with a late 2012 iMac 27" with 24 gb of ram. The window just goes inactive but hides the desktop and is in full opaque view.

  20. Crash Adobe InDesign CC v15.02-v15.1

    It freezes when openning the program (Starting up Service Registry...) Adobe InDesign CC v15.02-15.1 (Installed Language: English International)

    (But Adobe Creative Cloud for Teams: Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge and Acrobat DC are fine.)

    My Computer:

    PC Dell Inspiron 5680
    OS: Windows 10 Pro v2004 (64bit)
    Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 3.2GHz.
    HDD: 256GB SSD
    RAM: 16GB
