Won't open some .indd files
CC 2019 14.0.1
Some .indd files will not open. They've opened previously, and SOME very similar files will still open. When I doulble-click or open from the ID app, nothing happens. No errors. Just nothing. Tried copying files to desktop or duplicating/re-naming with no luck. Tried copying and changing extension to .idml, still no luck. Rebooted my machine, same. Deleted preferences, same. Uninstalled and re-intalled the app, same.1 vote -
Unable to type the í character
When typing, inDesign doesn't receive the í character. On the Hungarian keyboard the í can be entered as AltGr+J. When typing the text, and pressing AltGr+J, sometimes the í doesn't appears, but the Paragraph options dialog pops up. Pressing one more time the AltGr+J types the í. This is a problem in the newer versions, in the CS6 version this wasn't a problem.

arabic harakats moving
Hi!
There is interesting bug with arabic letters. When we have aleef-lyam-aleef with harakats + footnote references with more than one symbol (from 1 to 9, no problem, 10+ or (1), problems starts) on the line, harakats swap together. Have tried with multiple fonts, most of them (adobe font too) got this error.
Tested this in 2014 and 2018 ME versions of Indesign.
Hope you can easily fix it, cause it's a real problem for book publishing.

"haven't" contraction hyphenating in English USA
Unlike most of the other common contractions in English, the word "haven't" hyphenates at the end of a line. It shouldn't.

Importing Microsoft Word files doc. and .docx
Creative Cloud and Office 364 is up-to-date (although this issue happened before the upgrade so it has something to do with the import filter for .docx files into InDesign [this is the first occasion]).
While importing a .docx file, revisions from the word file appeared in the layout text. I noticed as I started to typeset. Scary.
Checked the Word file, upon Select All, references in the text were highlighted in a darker gray. There was no extra text appearing and revisions were all approved and accepted.

CC Library 2019 - Add new item and change it name
When I add item to CC Library 2019, and try change it name - all text (with lag!) is select and I losing my previeus text, becouse I still typing.

resize object works rarely
It's already 2019. I've been reading comments from 2015 about this same issue. I downloaded the most current version of InDesign and unbelievably I still cannot resize an object on my MacbookPro by clicking on the shift button. It works occasionally (for some odd reason). This is totally ridiculous. I read dozens of complaints about this from 2015 and on. Seriously, Adobe? You cannot fix this issue once and for all.

Can't open .idap files
We can package .icap files and send them to the proofreader, but when we get the .idap files back we can't open them. We get the error "The selected package file requires an InDesign document “^1” that cannot be found."

The plugin listed in that forum thread does not fix the problem either.The problem started when our team updated to CC 2019... had no problems until the update. We're on Apple's Mojave OS and 2019 InDesign.

Preferences: Preview image not working
My Italian InDesign release doesn't create a Hi Res preview image.
In the preferences I've flagged the "always save preview image with the document", Pages: "all the pages" and Preview dimensions: "very big 1024x1024", but the software doesn't work: when I try to have a look at the documents with Adobe Bridge I can see a low res preview, while with ID Util (an utility for OSX Quick Look) I can't see any preview of the pages of the document. This issue didn't happen with the previous release of InDesign and my old MacPro with El Capitan. Now I'm working…1 vote -
Background Tasks stuck on "Cancelling"
I was exporting multiple PDFs that were not exporting properly. When I figured out they were stuck, I manually cancelled the export in "Background Tasks". Both tasks have been "Cancelling" for two days. I cannot close the files nor can I close InDesign.

Moving Objects with arrow keys is buggy
If I try to move and object with the arrow keys, ist does not take effect for several times and then the content of the object suddenly jumps. Same with line height adjustments: nothing happens / value ist not applied. Then ist suddenly jumps in the Layout.

Indesign CC2019 (oct) - "Do you want to save changes to "-/*TempScratchDocument*/-" on close
Indesign 14.0.1 x64, german, Windows8 as "Admin"
On closing Indesign with its "×" button, a dialog popped up asking:
Do i wanna save changes to "-/TempScratchDocument/-", Yes | No | Cancel.
This is the first time i have this error. I can not recreate it. Prior to the error i did: made some changes to an open documents spellchecking and hyphenisation settings. I also edited a paragraph format in the doc to use Duden instead of Proximity as Spellchecking/Hyphenisation. I let it re-calculate the flow of the document and saved the document. Gradient Angle Resets to Default when Changing Color in Gradient Swatch
I have an object selected that has a gradient swatch applied to it, and the gradient goes from top to bottom. I then go to the color menu and double-click the gradient swatch. Now when I click on one of the two color squares in the gradient swatch the angle of the gradient on the selected object will revert back to its default angle (left to right). This only happens to objects that I have selected. Both on my macbook and windows pc. InDesign version 14.0.1

Adobe Fonts wont load
Hello,
While creating a document I was trying to discover a new font. I clicked Fonts > Find More and where a list of adobe fonts usually pops up, I got nothing. I tried creating a new text box, signing in and out of adobe, and closing / opening the document.
Attached please find a screen grab of the issue.
I'd love an assist if possible.

Strange characters appear when pasting any text from anywhere
I have InDesign CC2019 - Whenever I paste from any program (Word, Outlook, Notepad) into InDesign there is an odd boxed character with an X anywhere there was a line ending in the original. There are no soft returns or hard returns or anything in the originals it just word wrapped in a spot - and InDesign inserts a character which I cannot search for or replace.

PageMaker import doesn't work.
InDesign is supposed to import PageMaker 6.5 documents. Adobe gives instructions for it here: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/converting-quarkxpress-pagemaker-documents.html#convert_pagemaker_documents
This doesn't work. Not only are p65 files not recognized as loadable by default, but attempting to load them forcibly results in an error message from InDesign.

Jumbled Text
I'm having an issue with catalogs I'm working with. When I open the most recent version of an INDD file, there is jumbled text in the headings and subheadings, even though the PDF exported fine when the file was last opened. Advice?

Links panel
When you highlight a link in the document, it used to highlight the corresponding image in the links panel, so you could easily edit or replace, instead of having to scroll through the links panel trying to identify the asset from the thumbnail. A minor workflow thing but it makes a difference. Would love to have this feature back in.

We use a previous file to keep the formatting of a merged mailing list. I used to be that when you copied the file to a new directory it could no longer find the old data file and gave you a warning. It also would not show you a preview because it could not find the data.Unfortunately, the new version seems to have held the old data so we printed the old merged file by mistake.
