Button Action 'Go back to previous VIEW' not working
I use Adobe InDesign 20.3x64 2025 version
I tried creating the interactive button in the Parent, in the normal pages, did all the troubleshoot tips I found, i.e. view the PDF file in Acrobat, ensured there is no special character in the file name, that I export correctly, deleted InDesign preferences.... I can't make the button work.

Find/Change | Glyph | Failure to find characters with applied character styles
Version: Adobe InDesign 19.5.4 and 20.3.1
I cannot post a .zip here apparently, so I've put my InDesign file.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Make a character style that ONLY sets the font to bold.
2. put down a glyph twice, I used the AE glyph (GID/CID 138).
3. For one, apply bold manually.
4. For the other, apply the bold character style.
5. Open the Find/Change Glyph menu and enter the GID/CID used, along with the font and bold style.Expected Result:
Both of the glyphs would be foundActual Result:
Only the glyph without the character style applied will…1 vote -
OR Operator with Anchors Behaves Incorrectly
InDesign GREP Bug Report: OR Operator with Anchors Behaves Incorrectly
Summary
InDesign's GREP engine does not handle the OR operator (|) correctly when used with anchors (^ and $). This behavior differs significantly from standard regex engines and produces unexpected, inconsistent results.Problem Description
When using the OR operator with anchors in InDesign GREP, the anchors are interpreted with incorrect precedence, causing the pattern to behave differently than expected. This issue has been confirmed as a bug by Peter Kahrel, author of "GREP in InDesign."Test Cases and Results

InDesign Color Settings Are Overwritten by Other Versions
Summary:
InDesign is unable to maintain separate color settings for each version. Whenever a different version is activated, the color settings are forcibly overwritten by the last activated version.Steps to Reproduce:
Launch InDesign 2025 and set the color settings to “Preset A” (e.g., a print vendor’s recommended settings).
Launch and activate InDesign 2024.
Without any warning, InDesign 2024 will adopt the same Preset A color settings.
This also occurs in the opposite direction: activating either version will overwrite the other’s previously configured color settings.Expected Behavior:
Like Photoshop and Illustrator, InDesign should maintain independent color settings for each version.…

InDesign version 20.4.1: The Y coordinates for lines are the same with the top edge and the bottom.
See attached video. I'm also having trouble updating Creative Cloud despite following every recommended fix, including repair. It won't let me delete it unless I also delete every Adobe product. VERY frustrating.

Eyedropper tool should not copy content fill by default.
I don't think I have ever needed to copy the content fill settings from one image frame to another, but by default the eyedropper tool copies how the photo fills the frame, which is pretty annoying.
Requested Feature: Please add a checkbox specifically for content fill. Please have it unchecked by default.
Right now you can only disable content fill from being apply by unchecking "color and tint," which doesn't make sense and is not intuitive.
Expectation 1: eyedrop a frame to copy it's color/stoke/ other attributes, but not content fill which changes the size/position of the image within the…

Feature request: Link text in body and footnote Please add a function to link a word or phrase in the main text to a word or phrase in a fo
Dear Adobe InDesign team, I would like to request a new feature for Adobe InDesign: the ability to link a word or phrase in the main (body) text with a corresponding word or phrase in a footnote (or another text frame), so that if the main text moves to another page, the linked text in the footnote will also automatically move together. This feature is very important for professional publishing workflows, especially for complex academic, multilingual, and religious books. For example, in Islamic or scholarly works, it is critical that a term in the main text and its explanation in…

Converting pdf to an indesign doc removes all the hyphens

Hyphenation settings see note references as a character
Hypenation settings consider a note reference as a character, so if you have a footnote callout at the end of a word and hyphenation settings are set to "before last 3" it will make 2-letter hyphenation.

Restore Command + Resize and Command + Space Zoom Behavior in InDesign
In recent versions of InDesign, two essential shortcuts have been broken or changed:
Command + Drag on a frame no longer resizes the content inside the frame as it used to — or it behaves inconsistently.
Command + Space no longer reliably brings up the zoom tool that allows click-dragging to zoom into a selected area.
These shortcuts were core to efficient, professional workflows for years. Removing or altering them without an option to restore the original behavior is disruptive. Designers rely on muscle memory and speed — this feels like a step backward. Please restore the legacy behaviors or…

Subject: Why Did You Break the Zoom Tool in InDesign?
Subject: Why Did You Break the Zoom Tool in InDesign?
Dear Adobe Team,
Can someone please explain why the Command + Space + drag-to-zoom behavior in InDesign was altered? This used to be a seamless, intuitive part of the workflow — one of those tiny things that made a big difference for power users.
Now, depending on the version or OS, it either doesn’t work, lags, or flat-out refuses to cooperate unless I perform keyboard yoga. This is not an improvement. This is disruption disguised as innovation.
I’m not asking for a new feature. I’m asking you to restore a…

variable fonts
In a TrueType based variable font, if some nodes have implied deltas at the edge of outline, that edge can jump around as seen in the attached video. The right stem of the "n" should stay on the baseline. And it does in all other environment that I tested (Illustrator, Photoshop, Chrome, Safari …).
I tried to attach the font but get an error that .ttf and .zip files are not allowed. Here is a link to the file in dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/69ynar0ds0k44fhsuge2j/ImpliedDeltasVF.ttf?rlkey=zccl17cd67ru4oat5qlt2eb99&st=c469cifb&dl=0

Icon not showing in Windows File Explorer
InDesign v20.3 shows blank square in Windows File Explorer, instead of INDD Icon. Opens as expected in InDesign 2025.
I have already done icon cache rebuild, repair install, and reset file associations.
BTW The reason why it's important: InDesign icon isn't just cosmetic. It’s a visual anchor that helps you quickly pick .indd files out from folders full of images, PDFs, and links. Losing that icon seriously hurts workflow — especially in design-heavy environments with lots of asset types.

In InDesign 2020, we were able to disable this default setting successfully — the checkbox remained unchecked even after relaunching the app
In InDesign 2020, we were able to disable this default setting successfully — the checkbox remained unchecked even after relaunching the application.
However, in InDesign 2024, the checkbox automatically re-enables itself after each relaunch, even if we manually uncheck it.
We would like this checkbox to remain unchecked by default, even after restarting the software

Bug: UXP plugin panels become unusable when pressing Alt+F4 on Windows
InDesign 20.2 x64 on Windows 11
Steps to reproduce:
- Open any UXP based plugin panel on Windows OS (does not occur on Mac)
- Click inside the panel to "focus" it
- Press Alt+F4Expected result:
- InDesign window/app is closed (Alt+F4 is the default Windows shortcut for closing a window)Actual result:
- Plugin panel contents becomes blank.
- Situation is unrecoverable in InDesign. Closing the panel and reopening it has no effect. InDesign restart is required."Ironically" this issue also occurs for the built-in "Plugins" panel (likely also UXP based?)
